View 4 RepliesI am trying to install Oracle 10g RAC clusterware on RHEL-ES-4 using vmware. everything works properly till the time root.sh on second node.
I am getting the below error.
Adding daemons to inittab
Expecting the CRS daemons to be up within 600 seconds.
Failure at final check of Oracle CRS stack.
10
After googling this topic, I found I have to check this first below
This particular case is caused by the OS init system does not working.
" Failure at final check of Oracle CRS stack.10" means CRS daemon did not startup during 600 seconds period. In the root.sh script, it adds CRS related entry in /etc/inittab, run "init q" and expect 3 CRS related daemon processes to start, eg:
init.cssd
init.crsd
init.evmd
With init system problem, none of these daemon processes are spawned, this causes CRS process startup failure as they rely on the CRS daemon processes to start first.
This can be verified by adding a simple entry in /etc/inittab:
test:2:once:/usr/bin/echo "HELLO TEST" > /tmp/test.log
run "init q" as root user. If the init is working, then there should be a file /tmp/test.log generated.
According to above I am not able to generate this file.
RAC installation on vmware is failing with following errors. I followed below link for installation. URL..... Found the following errors:

During installation of Oracle RAC 11g r1 on Linux using VMware server for Two Nodes, all the pre cluster installation test was successful, and execution of root.sh on node 1 was successful too, but whenever I run the root.sh script on the second node I get error message "Failure at final check of oracle CRS stack. 10"

View 2 Replies View RelatedWe are having major differences in performance when accessing an Oracle 11gR2 database from two different environments.
I won't sadden you with the gory details of the full application but I will use an indicative example of our problem.
We have SQL Developer in both environments. In each of these SQL Developer instances is a defined a connection to the same database on another machine. So there is the PC looking at a database and a virtual instance looking at the same database.
Selecting the '+' sign next to 'tables' for that connection, on the PC the list of four tables comes back in 4 seconds but on the virtual instance the list of the same four tables comes back in 1 minute and 50 seconds.
This sort of timing issue is repeatable for all accesses to the Oracle database on the third machine.
what version of java is supported by Oracle Database 10g and 11g. Actually i am writing a User Defined Function in Java and was asking this question to know which version of java i need to compile the source file before uploading the jar.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've looked in several places, OTN, Google, various DBA forums to figure out if the way we have a client installed on a network drive is supported by Oracle - short of asking them if it's supported.
The configuration we have is a full 10g R2 client installed on a network drive, and the various environment variables (Oracle_Home, TNS_ADMIN, etc.) point to that network location for use by client machines (I'm also trying to see if the Instant client is supported on a network location as well.) We've had this set up for years which has served us well.
A co-worker remembers years ago that this set up wasn't supported, Oracle 8 or so was his thought as to what version was used then. Another coworker at an Oracle conference asked this same question and was told that it was supported, however we can't find any documentation to that effect.
Now the question arises as to whether or not using a client installed on a networked drive is a supported configuration for 10g R2 or higher, and if so, where it would be documented.
We are in the process of changing network topology and are reviewing whether this configuration is still the right thing for us or if clients should be installed locally to where they are used.
I decided to use Oracle 11g XE on Linux Mint. I read this tutorial Oracle 11gR2 Express Edition on Linux Ubuntu 11.10 howto included the seventh part. However, I did a minor change in the script given. Indeed, since Ubuntu 12.04, a bug appeared. So I use the following script :
cat > /etc/init.d/oracle-shm <<-EOF
#! /bin/sh
# /etc/init.d/oracle-shm

I already uninstalled and reinstalled Oracle 3-4 times, but nothing else happened. When I want to configure oracle-xe, I have a such message :

Yesterday I was installing 11.2.0.2 patch to our Oracle 11gR2(11.2.0.1.0) Two node RAC cluster on OEL 5.4 x86 Linux. Before installing I have read [URL] support note which says "Note: All Oracle Grid Infrastructure patch set upgrades must be out-of-place upgrades, in which you install the patch set into a new Grid home. In-place patch set upgrades are not supported. "
During Installation I found following Installation Option :
1) Install and configure Oracle grid Infrastructure for a cluster
2) Configure Oracle Grid Infrastructure for a Standalone Server
3) Upgrade Oracle Grid Infrastructure or Oracle Automatic Storage Management
4) Install Oracle Grid Infrastructure Software Only
Which option should I have to choose here ?
