During installation of Oracle RAC 11g r1 on Linux using VMware server for Two Nodes, all the pre cluster installation test was successful, and execution of root.sh on node 1 was successful too, but whenever I run the root.sh script on the second node I get error message "Failure at final check of oracle CRS stack. 10"

but as in the first step VMware Server Installation:First, install the VMware Server software. On Linux you do this with the following command as the root user.
My Agent Connection to Instance is down . I am trying to start it up using EM when i enter my user name and password on host credentials connection fails (am using a suer that installed my oracle software).
It isn't possible to use one EC2 machine for each RAC node because EC2 can't handle the virtual IPs, but I had thought that I could use one EC2 machine to host several Linux VMs using Virtual Box (the same way that I use Virtual Box on a Windows host). But I can't get Virtual Box working on EC2. The only relevant advice I can find on this is comments to the effect that running any virtualization product with a Xen machine as host is not a good idea.
I do realize that this isn't a 100% Oracle question, but if set up a RAC on an Amazon Cloud machine,
Every time interconnect IP ping failed between RAC servers,CRS causing reboot to the server. As documented,it is of 3 sec. Can we alter this setting to increase the ping failed (private IP) by more than 3secs.

When I was installing the oracle DB and instance in my linux server, I chose not to use oracle EM to administer it. I want to add the EM now, may I know what is the procedure?
If I want to use oracle EM installed in another server (for example oracle windows server) to administer it. May I know how to install just the EM remote agent in the local linux server ? what is the procedure?
If you want to upgrade these components, you must first install them, using the OUI, and then re-run the Upgrade Assistant. Do you want to continue with upgrade? Note: If you continue, the above components will not be considered as part of the upgrade process.*
Following is the status of the specified components from 11.1.0.6
COMP_ID COMP_NAME VERSION STATUS AMD OLAP Catalog 11.1.0.6.0 VALID SDO Spatial 11.1.0.6.0 VALID APS OLAP Analytic Workspace 11.1.0.6.0 VALID
Should I install these components while installing 11.2.0.2 patchset prior upgrading? I was unable to find any component installation on OUI.
Also DBUA pre-upgrade asked to remove existing UltraSearch from 11.1.0.6 prior upgrading. Though I removed it, but not sure is that going to hamper the upgraded DB, as I'm not sure of the usage of this component as well.
I have installed Oracle virtual box on windows host and have created Oracle Linux virtual machine as guest. I have installed the database server on my host machine but rest of the things(Peoplesoft peopletools etc....) on Oracle Linux guest. Now, I am trying to installed database client on guest machine which is Linux so that I can connect to DB server running on host, but having difficulties in doing so.
, I am following the installation instruction given in the doc docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/install.112/e24322.pdf, but when I finally run command runInstaller.sh doesn't happen anything.Actually, to install other software's I just double clicked the .sh file and it automatically started the installation process on a terminal window but when I clicked runInstaller.sh to install DB client, it didn't do anything.
Also, when I run the same command runInstaller.sh from command line after navigating to the directory where this file is present, It throws me error saying "no command found".By the way, why the steps given in doc are so complex, I wish If I could just double click runInstaller.sh just like others and it start the installation process.
I am trying to install Oracle client 11G software in AIX box. In /home/oracle, I find 7 profile files. I am not sure which profile file I am supposed to consider.
Using OUI i have removed the Enterprise Manager DBConsole component and now i need to reinstall them. After starting runinstaller i choose Advance and then Custom and i check the Enterprise Manager DBConsole and after i click on next it says cannot install on the same ORACLE_HOME. How can i reinstall the removed components using OUI. This is not Grid Control
With just the ip address available, how to install the oracle 11g software on windows 7? What are the access I will need in order to Install the oracle 11g software and create the oracle 11g database on windows 7?
I need to configure a watchdog (or any other) utility which will constantly monitor database health. And if something goes wrong with the database, the utility should restart the DB instance.
I want to install oracle 11.2.0.2 single instance database on AIX 6.1, does oracle recommend separate OS user for grid infrastructure and for oracle install? how many groups I need to have for these users like oinstall, dba etc?
I need to install Oracle 10g in windows 7 home premium which version of oracle 10g will work better with Windows 7 home premium. I need to download «& install.
I've been following Metalink note 602952.1, 309815.1 and 605828.1
metalink note 602952.1 states Quote:Note: Keep in mind for ASMLIB disks you will need to use the /dev/dm-* disks instead of the /dev/mapper/mpath* devices since they are present in the partition table ==)> /proc/partitions and ASMLIB will look at that file during the disk discovering phase. If you do not use the disks located at /dev/dm-* then ASM will not be able to discover them. and to create ASM disks with Quote:/etc/init.d/oracleasm createdisk DISK1 /dev/dm-<disk><partition> Also further stating Quote:NOTE: When scanning, only the device names known by the kernel are scanned. With device-mapper, the kernel sees the devices as /dev/dm-XX. The /dev/mapper/XXX names are created by udev for human readability. Any configuration of ORACLEASM_SCANORDER or ORACLEASM_SCANEXCLUDE must use the dm prefix. My environment is RHEL5 and towards the end of the note it says Quote:Note: On release RH 5 the /dev/dm-N devices are not persistent, starting, these devices are no longer created by udev. So release RedHat 5 you can create the ASMLIB disks on the /dev/mpath/<partition> or /dev/mapper/<partition>
Therefore I created a ASM disk using /dev/mapper path and it is only visible on the node it was created. Even after scandisks on other node it is still not visible when listdisks/oracleasm-discover
I've also tried creating the asm disks with dm-12 option and the same, disk get created but not visible on the other node.
Moreover if I restart the oracleasm restart the disk disappears from the node that it was visible Quote:
[root@db2 ~]# /etc/init.d/oracleasm createdisk vol1 /dev/mapper/mpath6p1 Marking disk "vol1" as an ASM disk: [ OK ] [root@db2 ~]# ls -l /dev/oracleasm/disks/* brw-rw---- 1 oracle dba 253, 12 Nov 8 10:22 /dev/oracleasm/disks/VOL1 [root@db2 ~]# /etc/init.d/oracleasm scandisks Scanning the system for Oracle ASMLib disks: [ OK ]
[code]....
But disk lable is there and could be seen from both nodes on the same partition Quote:
head /dev/mapper/mpath6p1 VOL1ORCLDISKVOL1
My suspicion is on multipath configuration. I've tried both (not at the same time) combinations given below.
