I have installed Oracle 11g XE with Apex 4.2 and I want to upgrade it to the apex 4.2.2. However, I do not have access to My Oracle connect. How do I uninstall apex 4.2 and install apex 4.2.2 full version from OTN?
View 1 RepliesWe use Apex 4.0.1 and (to simplify) say we have 2 environments: DEV and PROD (both with same workspace ID.)Application 10 is in production, and currently being modified in DEV as part of an improvement project.However a bug is found in PROD and needs to be fixed as soon as possible. The steps we take are:
- Get the version currently in PROD from CVS
- Import it under a different application ID in the DEV environment, say application 11.
- Fix the bug
Now the problem starts. We always deploy whole applications to other environments (rather than individual components) and we want to keep the same application ID when we deploy this fix to PROD. But we only have the run-time environment in PROD, so it is not possible to override the application ID during deployment. So what we do is:
- Export DEV application 10 (the one being modified)
- Export DEV application 11 (the one with the bug fix)
- Import DEV application 11 over application 10
- Export DEV application 10 (the one with the bug fix)
- Import DEV applicaton 10 back (the one being modified)
- Deploy DEV application 10 to PROD (the one with the bug fix)
Is there a way to improve this (other than manually modifying the application ID in the export file)?
Another problem we have is that, once application 10 is imported into application 11, all the internal IDs change (hence the title of this post. :) ) This makes comparing versions in CVS a nightmare. Any way to prevent it? The only way seems to be import the application from PROD into the same application number in DEV, but this has an impact in the development process as no new development can be done until the bug is fixed.
I'm trying to find a way to recover my APEX application that I built during 10 months. In the first time, I tried to recover, repair, restore...etc. my corrupted database 11g1 without success, in the end with nerves, I delete everything and reinstalled 11g2. Before to delete, I copied all db files including the corrupted one (system01.dbf).
I had wrote a script in order to export after any big change in my DB, a full database (using exp tool).
So now, What I have is :
1 - New and clean database.
2 - Last full export from the older one.
3 - All db files of the old database (noarchivelog).
I can import my schema that I used in my APEX app to contain data and objects (tables, sequences, triggers, views, packages, functions and procedures). But, I can't restore the APEX app.
Is there any way to recover my app from the export or from dbfiles ?
I notice that version 4.3.0 of AnyGantt was released in Aug/Sep 2012.
Will this version be included in Apex 4.2? If not, would I still be licenced to use AnyGantt 4.3.0 with my Apex apps? If so where can I download it from?

View 11 Replies View Related if it is possible to install APEX version 3.0.1 on oracle database version 11.2.0.3? We currently have a 10g database with APEX 3.0.1 installed. Now for an upgrade project we need install the latest database version. Unfortunately we do not have enought time to migrate the APEX application. Therefore the APEX version should stay the same.
So any experiences with APEX 3.0.1 and RDBMS 11.2?(I searched for oracle documentation but couldn't find anything useful.)
I read the manual, searched the Forum and Googled, but I can't get websheets demo app to install. No matter what I try, I get "The database objects required to create Websheet applications are either invalid or do not exist." I tried: Create Application -> Websheet. Get message "Invalid Websheet Objects". I then click in that window ate bottom "install sample applications". Chose AnyCo IT Department -> install application -> Get message "Invalid Websheet Objects"
And round and round we go.
I checked in the instance that "Feature Configuration" is set to "Yes"
Note: I have created a new workspace and that one works ok. I can load websheet applications.
How can I determine version of oracle database from APEX. Is there any built in table or view is available in APEX? Is it possible from Shared Component?

We are using the latest Apex Listener as well.The install seemed to go well (no errors during the DBA install) and we configured the Listener to connect to the database using the basic connection settings.I was able to login to the Admin console and create my workspace and users, but I cannot even get the workspace login screen to appear.All we get it is:
Error Error processing request.
ORA-01403: no data found
This is the only thing that shows up when going to the default Apex URL....
i'm trying to install a development-environment. The production- and testing-environmens are working, but i have problems with the development.
I installed Oracle 10g XE 10.2.0.1.0 and Apex 4.1.1.00.23 on my Oracle VM Virtual Box (Windows 7 Professional 64 bit).
127.0.0.1:8080/apex works from the Virtual Box.
192.168.11.42:8080/apex (the IP in my network) and 192.168.11.42:8080 work either from the Virtual Box.
But it doesn't work from other clients in my network. So far i tried exec dbms_xdb.setlistenerlocalaccess(false).
if on an interactive report, you try and filter on a date column, then the "=" operator disappears.You get other (not so useful) operators like "in the next", "not in the next" ">", ">=" etc. - but no "=" to be found.

I started restoring and testing all the backups. So far I did good and I wanted to restore and test in different host. I couldn't find any online documentation regarding restore full back up in a new different server (With same OS and same version of Oracle) without RMAN catalog database.

My question is, if I uninstalled my database and then reinstall it, will it affect my the systems I made(I already backed-up my tables etc.)?
for example, the components for my oracle-vb connection.Why I need to uninstall? Because I got locked out of the System account:, I can't change my password.

For removing of XML DB I have found: XML DB FAQ. Is it still actual? But I found nothing for uninstalling of VPD and XStreams.
We are planning to upgrade a database from 9.2.0.8.0 to 10.2.0.4.0.We have a lot a PRO*C programs pre compiled using 9.2.0.8.0 (and most likely even 9.2.0.7.0) compiler.
if we could upgrade the database without having to re-compile all the programs.We have tested this approach against some of our programs. Most of them executed fine - but in 2 cases we are getting "ORA-01001 invalid cursor". I suspect, that the case is that Pre compiler version 9 is not supported against 10g databases - but I am not sure.
Would it be a better option to upgrade Pre compiler/client as the first step and the db as the second step (and would that be supported) ? We definitely don't want to upgrade both Pre compiler/Client and the Database in one goal - that would be too risky.

For one of our Java applications, the Oracle Client installed in the apps server was 10.2 . One of the SCAN LISTENERs were down in the cluster. When DNS resolves the scan name to that particular SCAN IP where the listener is down, the connection will fail. But , after they upgraded the oracle client to 11.2 , the issue seems to be resolved. It seems that the client is skipping the faulty SCAN IP which doesn't have scan listener running. Are 11.2 and higher Oracle clients intelligent enough to check this ?
I am using Oracle 11g version, I wanted to check if a particular function is available in the earlier version of Oracle (Say 9i). Oracle optimizer to run the query only using the features available in the 9i version?
