I have a windows server 2008 machine and I have installed the oracle client win64_11gR2_client and I need to uninstall it. It does not appear in the program list and there is no uninstall in the Oracle menu items. I need to uninstall this client. How do I do that?

I need to uninstall this option, how to uninstall oracle advanced security ?
I have a Oracle 11g R2 XE installed in my PC. I also have a licensed VB2010 Ultimate(free from class). I have made three systems using this database, 1 using php and 2 using .net.
My question is, if I uninstalled my database and then reinstall it, will it affect my the systems I made(I already backed-up my tables etc.)?
for example, the components for my oracle-vb connection.Why I need to uninstall? Because I got locked out of the System account:, I can't change my password.

My developers want to connecting using the SID or the SERVICE_NAME and by using the "New Method" syntax, not the "Old Method" syntax. According to the documentation the "New Method" syntax works with the SERVICE_NAME or the SID. The "Old Method" only works with the SID.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have new virtual UNIX machine and I installed oracle client on /usr/lib/oracle. Also I have a oracle database and I am able to connect to this database from my desktop sql developer.
So now I am trying to connect from new UNIX machine. Where I created tnsnames.ora file under /usr/lib/oracle/network/admin and before connecting did export the following

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am trying to install oracle 8i client onto a win7 x64 box. The client installs no problem. I can add the DSN entry into the 32bit odbc admin no problem (no test button on 8i version of the ODBC driver unfortunately).
However when I try to create a new report in crystal reports XI (32 bit app) and try to make a new database connection, I can see the DSN entry that I put into ODBC earlier but after i put in the username and password then press ok it just hangs. Crystal reports goes into a state of "not responding" but never comes back with an error.
I have a VB application which uses oo4o to connect to Oracle database (10g) using Oracle client v 8.1.7. All was working well till we migrated to windows 7. On windows 7 (64 bit), we have oracle client 11g (64 bit). but the Vb application cannot make connection with the database although i can query the database using SQL Plus.

Installation was successful and I was able to create the required service names and test them to the Oracle database server. Now when I try to create an ODBC connection with Oracle in OraClient10g_home1, I get the following error: SQORAS32

If I install Oracle client 10.2.0.1.0, I don't get this error. It happens with the latest client. Is there any was to solve this error?

Install 10gR2 and 11gR1(for x64) after downloading from Oracle. In each case, I ran the setup file from the zip file and tried again by unzipping and running the setup.exe as the administrator. In most cases, I got the error from the compatibility check that the Oracle install would not work with 6.1 (NT6.1, I think).
I tried one suggestion of modifying the refhost.xml file to list 6.1 as an acceptable OS, but then my install failed when oui.exe quit running.

Pinging between the client/server works fine. I have turned off the firewall on both the client (Windows firewall) the Server (IPtables) but got the same problem!
I have also set the ORACLE_HOME, TNS_ADMIN and PATH in the Windows environment variables.
I have installed an oracle client in my machine and at the same time the machine is having an express edition database installed .
My question is how can i make both the clients working ? The one which is installed later sets the path variable. Despite changing the value of path variable , i am unable to connect through the client .

I have a Oracle client installed in a UNIX platform, whose key code is ASCII. When I fire any Oracle query which has a ORDER BY clause at the client side, the ordering is done as per EBCDIC.
My question is: Does the client side locale settings ever come into picture? Or in other words when does the client side settings influence the result of a query?

View 2 Replies View RelatedWe currently have a windows 2008 server running our virtualization administration application (VCenter server 4.0) which uses a 10g client 32bit ODBC driver to connect to our 10g database server. This is the emulated 32bit driver in sysWOW64 folder.
I need to upgrade VCenter, which needs to use the 64bit 10g ODBC driver. Have installed the 102010_win64_x64_client on a test server which gives me the correct 64 bit driver.
My question is can i install two clients onto the same windows 2008 server without causing operational issues while i run pre upgrade checks?
I rarely do client installs. I have not downloaded upgrades on a couple of years. I have been doing other stuff and oracle supports patching page has changed.
Need to install 11.2 on HP Itanium 64 bit. I can get 11.2.0.1 from otn.oracle.com.
1. I downloaded the 11.2.0.1 client from otn. I want to see if there is an 11.2.0.2 or 11.2.0.3 patch on Oracle support. I can only find upgrades that are specifically for the databsae server. Do I use this? See below for the notes I used so far. Note: Oracle Database Upgrade Path Reference List [ID 730365.1]
Which leads me to the following patch below. However, this download is much larger than the client download on otn. It also says 'database server' and does not break out to 'database client'.So not sure if this is what I use to patch the client or not. This upgrade is also much larger than the straight client download. So not sure if this is what I use to just upgrade the client.

2. Do you apply PSU's to the client? I see them listed for the 'database'. Not sure if you apply to a separate client install.
3. We use the proC pre-compiler. When I look in the instant client download section, I see a seperate section for the proC pre-compiler download. I don't see that for the full blown client. Does the regular client download include the proC pre-compiler?
