I have installed an oracle client in my machine and at the same time the machine is having an express edition database installed .
My question is how can i make both the clients working ? The one which is installed later sets the path variable. Despite changing the value of path variable , i am unable to connect through the client .
While login to the oracle db10g through client , i am getting following error.
ERROR: ORA-00604: error occurred at recursive SQL level 1 ORA-00922: missing or invalid option ORA-06512: at "SYS.DBMS_SESSION", line 153 ORA-06512: at line 2
I'm trying to setup ODBC connection for my Oracle client while installing BO. Following are the steps I followed.
1. Downloaded the Oracle Client from the link [URL] . From that downloaded two zip files. “Instant Client Package – Basic Lite" and “Instant Client Package – ODBC”. Extracted the Zip Files to the folder I created under C: as C:Oracleinstantclient_11_2.
2. Since I'm setting up in ODBC in windows 2008 64-bit R2. I was advised to install 32 bit . So in cmd prompt, from the location C:Oracleinstantclient_11_2, ran odbc_install.
3.Created the Environment variables as i) *TNS_ADMIN - C:Oracleinstantclient_11_2* ii) *Oracle_Home - C:Oracleinstantclient_11_2* iii) *Edited the PATH variable with ;C:Oracleinstantclient_11_2*
4. Created the tnsnames.ora file in C:Oracleinstantclient_11_2. Its content are as follows. clarity_dev = (DESCRIPTION = (ADDRESS_LIST = (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = claritydev.vip.its.ebay.com )(PORT = 1521)) ) (CONNECT_DATA = (SID = clarity) ) )
5. From the folder %windir%sysWOW64odbacd32.exe, Opens ODBC Data Source Adminsitartor. In that I found my Oracle in instantclient_11_2 and added following details.
Data Source Name : claritydev.vip.its.com TNS Service Name : clarity_dev User Id: clarity1
When I test connect it, I get error *ORA-12154:* * TNS:could not resolve the connect identifier specified*
I've seen FAQs for this error, but couldn't find anything which solves. Is there any steps I'm missing? I've checked in DB properties. It uses SID not the Service Name.
when i am trying to connect to the database using sqldeveloper i am not able to connect to database. its giving me an error "Unsupported Oracle database version" but with plsql developer I am able to connecting.
I have a Batch file(.bat) where I get the user name password ans schema name as a input . Based on that input I connect the sql and run some update query from bat file itself. Now I have issue ,when the user give wrong credintials it ask for the credintials again.
Is there any way to check the credintials of oracle and give the invalid credintial error via bat file. The sample of my Bat file is as follows.
@echo off for /f %%i in ('sqlplus -s usename/password@db @H: est_db_connection.sql') do @set count=%%i echo %count% IF %count% EQU 1 ECHO ("Database connection working fine") IF %count% NEQ 1 ECHO ("Not able to connect to database")
On Oracle 11gr2 DB Prod DB client error log gives error "Txxnx_AxSxNERGY service terminated unexpectedly" and it has done this 25 time(s) but from DB size in alert.log i can find only "ORA-1652: unable to extend temp segment by 128 in tablespace TIVOLIORTEMPTS" error.
After increasing table space size it starts working fine but i am not sure whether Table space was a reason for service termination or network issue i can not find any error in listener.log file .
I have facing problem while taking backup on Windows 7 client of Oracle 11g R2 database. I have installed oracle 11gR2 for windows on windows 7 machine. I have created a directory like below in database.
On Database Server
SQL> create directory win_expdp_dir as 'd:expimp';
Directory created.
SQL> grant read, write on directory win_expdp_dir to lab;
Grant succeeded.
On Windows 7 machine (client machine)
D:appproduct11.2.0client_1BIN>expdp lab/lab@wbdata.wbh-db11g DIRECTORY=win_expdp_dir DUMPFILE=lab.dmp LOGFILE=lab.log Export: Release 11.2.0.1.0 - Production on Mon May 2 12:51:44 2011 Copyright (c) 1982, 2009, Oracle and/or its affiliates. All rights reserved. Connected to: Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.2.0.1.0 - Production With the Partitioning, OLAP, Data Mining and Real Application Testing options ORA-39002: invalid operation ORA-39070: Unable to open the log file.
I have give all sharing rights on d:expimp directory. My main question is why i'm getting this error. Is there any thing missing in setup. how to take export on windows 7 client.
The problem is that this connection errors when I try to connect using my SQuirreL client. My developers want to connecting using the SID or the SERVICE_NAME and by using the "New Method" syntax, not the "Old Method" syntax. According to the documentation the "New Method" syntax works with the SERVICE_NAME or the SID. The "Old Method" only works with the SID.
# Host name is vmwwin7634.na.SAS.com # SID is sting2 # SERVICE_NAME is sting2.na.sas.com
PROBLEM using SID errors ==> jdbc:oracle:thin:@vmwwin7634.na.SAS.com:1521/sting2 THIS WORKS using SERVICE_NAME ==> jdbc:oracle:thin:@vmwwin7634.na.SAS.com:1521/sting2.na.sas.com
I am using SQuirreL Client version 3.4.0
# Here is the tnsnames.ora entry on the server. STING2 = (DESCRIPTION =
[code]...
# In this documentation it says, "On new syntax SERVICE may be a oracle service name or a SID."You can find this on the orafax wiki under JDBC#Thin_driver.
# I was able to connect with the "old method" using the SID only, SERVICE_NAME errors jdbc:oracle:thin:@vmwwin7634.na.SAS.com:1521:sting2.na.sas.com (SQuirreL client error, "Unexpected Error occurred attempting to open an SQL connection.") jdbc:oracle:thin:@vmwwin7634.na.SAS.com:1521:sting2 (this works)
# "New Method" jdbc:oracle:thin:@vmwwin7634.na.SAS.com:1521/sting2.na.sas.com (this works) jdbc:oracle:thin:@vmwwin7634.na.SAS.com:1521/sting2 (this errors) (SQuirreL client error, "Unexpected Error occurred attempting to open an SQL connection.")
I have new virtual UNIX machine and I installed oracle client on /usr/lib/oracle. Also I have a oracle database and I am able to connect to this database from my desktop sql developer.
So now I am trying to connect from new UNIX machine. Where I created tnsnames.ora file under /usr/lib/oracle/network/admin and before connecting did export the following
ORA-12545: Connect failed because target host or object does not exist. Not sure what I missed here. using same tns file I am able to connect from sql developer on windows.
I need to install Oracle client to get latest sql plus working on client pc as the problem is, i am not able to find out where i can download this , i just need the sql plus as i am not able use many commands because when i installed oracle forms 6i client tool , sql plus 8.0 got installed.
The version is Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.4.0 - 64bi. for Unix AIX 5
I install the ODBC Driver Manager, Basic Instant Client, ODBC Instant Client packages (libsqora.so, odbc_update_ini.sh).
The error:
[oracle@d4 oracle] $ isql OracleODBC-10g user passtemp -v [01000][unixODBC][Driver Manager]Can't open lib '/home/oracle/instantclient_10_2/libsqora.so' : file not found [ISQL]ERROR: Could not SQLConnect
I have created oracle 11 XE..Once it is created it was running fine.I have worked on that 2 days.
Problem is occured when I restart my machine.I m getting below error:
Error 6 initializing SQL*Plus Message file sp1<lang>.msb not found SP2-0750: You may need to set ORACLE_HOME to your Oracle software directory
I have checked the forum in which it is mentioned that ORACLE_HOME is not properly set.I tried that one alot of time.Even now environment variable shows proper value.
After restarting the listener, we could connect using the connect identifier from the local server. However, when trying to connect from a remote client we received the error of "no listener". In the remote client the identifier is defined with host=ip_address. TNSping from the client to the host was successful.
When we changed listener.ora to host=up_address we could connect ONLY from the remote computer. Only after changing the host in tnsnames.ora file to the IP as well - we could connect from both the local server and the remote client.
I usually use host=localhost in the listener file (and the local tnsnames file) and never had this problem before.
I have a .sql file that is used as a wrapper file that when executes within sqlplus (9.2.0.1.0), executes a bunch of .sql files within it. Example below:
Each of the .sql file (A,B,C,D,E) Spools individual output of sql statment within them. Each of the indv .sql file queries different tables with different filters(where) clause.
I would like to capture any error (OS,SQL,DB) into indv error file (A_ERROR.log). The reason being is because later in the process we need to validate if there were any errors before processing and loading the data into our SQL database
What i have to do to overcome the following error..whenever im using toad im getting this error since start writing and executing procedures and functions.
access violation at address 006b5b1b in module 'toad.exe' read of address 0000011d
An Unexpected error window like popup is raised when starting Oracle SQL developer. Here I have attached the screenshot of the error. What does the error mean. How to resolve.Below is the error message shown if I click the REPORT button
FeedbackAn unexpected error has occured provide some information that would allow the developer to reproduce the problem
I am using Oracle 11g version, and i am using plsql developer 7.1.I am able to connect Oracle through sql*plus, But i am not able to connect Oracle through plsql developer from past few days, it is giving me error like: ora-12545 connect failed because target host does not exist...I recently installed oracle dev_suite 10g client first and then i installed oracle 11g server in windows 7. Both tns files are having identical entries.
