View 1 RepliesI'm trying to connect a oracle client application on the client machine to a remote oracle server on the server machine but i get a connection fail.
On the server machine I configured oracle server in the following way:
Installed oracle server. Created a database "DB_Test" with the database configuration assistant Created a LISTNER with the Oracle NET Manager with the following parameter:
Protocol: TCP/IP HOST: server pc hostname (ENZOVAIO) or server machine address ip (192.168.0.71) in the network lan Port Number: 1521 Created "dbtest" service with the Oracle NET Manager with with the following parameter:
Service Name: "dbtest" Protocol: TCP/IP HOST: server pc hostname (ENZOVAIO) or server machine address ip (192.168.0.71) in the network lan Port Number: 1521
All services on the server machine are running and I opened port number (1521) in the router. On the client machine I installed SQL PLUS and SQL Developer.
With SQL Plus as by the official documentation I have entered the following command:
CONNECT username/password@[//]host[:port][/service_name]. In my case is:
CONNECT SYSTEM/oracledb@//ENZOVAIO:1521/testdb.
With SQL Developer I have entered the same parameter.
But with both SQLPlus and SQL Developer the connection fails.
we have oracle server. we have to connect 500+ client machine to oracle server.
is it i need to install client version to all 500+ or any other shortcut way?
all of the client cann't connect the db,and using sqlplus / as sysdba also cann't login there are many error of TNS-12535 and in the listener.log

I have installed oracle developer 6i. in sqlplus i want to put my username and password but nothing in the connect string field.
View 1 Replies View RelatedThe problem is that this connection errors when I try to connect using my SQuirreL client. My developers want to connecting using the SID or the SERVICE_NAME and by using the "New Method" syntax, not the "Old Method" syntax. According to the documentation the "New Method" syntax works with the SERVICE_NAME or the SID. The "Old Method" only works with the SID.
# Host name is vmwwin7634.na.SAS.com
# SID is sting2
# SERVICE_NAME is sting2.na.sas.com
PROBLEM using SID errors ==> jdbc:oracle:thin:@vmwwin7634.na.SAS.com:1521/sting2
THIS WORKS using SERVICE_NAME ==> jdbc:oracle:thin:@vmwwin7634.na.SAS.com:1521/sting2.na.sas.com

I have new virtual UNIX machine and I installed oracle client on /usr/lib/oracle. Also I have a oracle database and I am able to connect to this database from my desktop sql developer.
So now I am trying to connect from new UNIX machine. Where I created tnsnames.ora file under /usr/lib/oracle/network/admin and before connecting did export the following
export TNS_ADMIN=/usr/lib/oracle/network/admin
export ORACLE_HOME=/usr/lib/oracle/
export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$ORACLE_HOME/lib
export PATH=$PATH:$HOME/bin:/sbin:$ORACLE_HOME/bin
export ORACLE_SID=VFIODSD1
when I try
# sqlplus
username :xxxxxxx
password : xxxxxxx
ORA-12545: Connect failed because target host or object does not exist. Not sure what I missed here. using same tns file I am able to connect from sql developer on windows.
I have Oracle 7 database on Server1. I need to connect this using Oracle client from windows XP.
I have downloaded Oracle client 3.0 and when I am trying to connect it saying "Unable to connect: Unsupported Oracle version".
can connect a 64 bit Oracle 11g Release 2 on a Windows 7 client with a 32 bit Oracle 11g Release 2 on a Windows 2008 server?
View 5 Replies View RelatedJust wanted to know if 11XE (R2,32bit) will install and work correctly on Windows Server 2008 R2 x64?
I would like to install either the Oracle 11g Client and/or ODP.NET(x86 and x64) on the same machine, would this work? I cannot find any documentation regarding this and so far I am having some issues. At this point in time I have 11XE and ODP.Net (both x86) on this x64 machine under separate Oracle_homes and I cannot connect to the XE database from either SQLPlus client installed with the respective Oracle_Home..
Can I use a 32bit client to connect to a 64bit server?
I am trying to connect to database remotely. I have installed Oracle client on my local machine(Windows 7) and trying to connect to db.

View 12 Replies View RelatedI have TOAD 8.6 installed and hoping to use with Oracle 10g databases. I have SQL Navigator also - it works fine. However TOAD does not. Open up TOAD and see the TNS dropdown, select a database and try to log in - click on Connect and the little SQL hour glass comes on, goes off - there is no error, no message and no connection. I have tried several databases and again, SQLPlus, SQL Navigator are both working fine.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWe have a Oracle 10g database in the server. We are trying to connect to the server using oracle6 client and we are able to do so. How ever when retrieving the "time stamps" field , getting an error "ORA-03115: unsupported network datatype or representation". I understood from the error that, the client version need an upgrade.
How ever , We have another server which is having Oracle6 installed in the server and hence If i install/upgrade the client in my local system , I will be having trouble.
My question is , is there any way to get the timestamps from oracle6 client with out any issue.
I installed Oracle 10g XE and Toad 10.5 in my home system.I am able to connect to Oracle from Oracle XE homepage and XE SQL command line but when I try to connect to Oracle from toad 10.5 I am getting the error 'TNS: could not resolve the connect identifier specified (XE)'.From toad I tried direct and TNS options but it did not work. My tns ora file looks like below.
XE =

TNS_ADMIN variable has correct parameter and Toad is directing the correct TNS file. I tried changing hostname with my system's ip but still I am unable to connect to Oracle from Toad.
I have been troubling with this issue for the last two weeks...tried so much, but could not able to resolve....
sqlplus username/password@IPAddress:port/ServiceName
I am able to connect to DATABASE from SQLAssistant only when I provide string like ABOVE........If I dont mention the SERVICE, m unable to connect to DB.Now the biggest issue is with SQL Developer.....m not at all able to connect to DB using SQL Developer.
I am creating a cross platform database application using Mono. It uses oracle database as back end. I used ODBC drive to connecting database. I can connect to database using this following connection string in my windows machine
Driver={Oracle in OraDb11g_home1};Server=localhost;Uid=system;Pwd=manager
For Linux I uses Linux Oracle OS for Database server. I installed oracle client in my fedora OS. and cofigure the client using net cofiguration assistant tool with oracle client. client connection working OK. Then I try to connect with my mono application using the following connection string
Driver={Oracle ODBD Drive};Server=orcl;Uid=system;Pwd=manager
but the above connection string not worked.I am using Oracle 11g version. Do I need to install any other ODBC driver to access oracle database
when i try to connect with sqlplus or toad then i get an error

We have a scenairo in which we have two servers one is a Oracle server and the other is SQL server and we need to enable automated Emails from the oracle DB server. As the Oracle server is not whitelisted and we have a SQL server which is already whitelisted so is it possible to connect from Oracle server to Sql server so that the automated emails will be generated from the sql server (as it is whitelisted) and we do not want to whitelist the oracle server.
The following error message occured when i connected from a client 11.2.0 (64 bits) to a database installing with a 10g 64 bits.

Is there any requirement like the client has to be installed with a 32 bits version of oracle because Windows restrictions?
The current config:
The server: Windows 2008 (64 bits) with Oracle 10g (64 bits).
The client: Windiws 2003 (64 bits) with Oracle 11.2.0 (64 bits).

I just want to know whether Oracle forms 11g supports other databases like DB2, SQL Server etc.
Also does Oracle forms 11g supports Oracle database 9i or 10g apart from 11g?
I am trying to connect to Oracle from another server that does not have any Oracle applications on it.
I tried Perl, PHP, Java but each require parts of Oracle installed.
We are unable to connect to Oracle 11.1.0.7.0 from Oracle Forms 4.5..However we are able to connect using Oracle forms 6i
Now Forms 4.5 is old and not supported, however apart from Tests I will need prove it to the higher ups...Do we have any link, document which will cover such compatibility issue?

But I do not have any such folder(rdbms) in my $ORACLE_HOME.What does it mean? And how can I install HS alone on my system(Since I already have oracle)
