View 4 Replies View RelatedI just upgraded our server to Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g with Forms and Reports and now I want to update the developers workstation too.
They have Oracle Developer Suite 10g R1 for the moment. The last version of Oracle Developer Suite is 10g R2 and I don't see anything for 11g. All I can find is that it's now in Fusion Middleware 11g and JDeveloper... But, from what I can see, JDeveloper is for Java development, not for Forms/Reports development.
So, do I need to use Oracle Developer Suite 10g R2 or is there a new version of it?

I am running an Oracle 9i DB with character set : FRENCH_FRANCE.WE8ISO8859P1.
The data inside the DB deals with two languages :
- French and Arabic.
I insert, delete, update data on the DB through one of these tools :
- SQL*PLUS
- Forms 6i
and everything works fine especially with Arabic : characters are interpreted correctly by these tools. Now, I want to use Dev Suite as a new tool.
My problem is with Arabic characters : they are not displayed correctly. On the web form (run by a JRE : JInitiator) the characters are not replaced by "?", they are wrongly interpreted.
Example :
The right interpretation of "Amine" in arabic is : أمين and not : Ããíä.
So, querying a table with Dev Suite returns me Ããíä and not ????.
It seems like the JRE "understands" the characters but doesn't know how to "interpret" the Arabic characters correctly. I've tried to play with the NLS_LANG parameter on the regedit but in vain.

i tried to replace the tnsnames.ora of the devsuite with the tnsnames.ora of db10g still didn't work. i also set up the ORACLE_HOME to the db 10g's folder

Is there an easy way to fix this domain name in the Oracle installation after the fact? I know about tnsnames.ora, pfile, system parameters, and I'm pretty sure I can do emagent -config. My concern is that the "Installed Products" would not like the fact that the domain name is now "abc.proj.org" when installation was done on "abcproj.org". The /etc/hosts file had "abcproj.org", and we want to fix it to "abc.proj.org".
I need to reinstall Oracle -- is there a better way?

I have installed Weblogic Server 10.3.6 in my PC .While in installation i have chosen 'Custom' option instead of 'Typical' and Unchecked software Components 'Database Evaluation' and 'Oracle Coherence' and Installed 'Node Manager Service' then continued with Weblogic server installation .Weblogic Server installed Succesfully.
(In weblogic server home folder nodemanager.domains file also not created after weblogic server installation)
Now i started installation of Forms and Reports 11g R2 . While Configuring Instance 'Domain Creation is Failed'.
I am on 11.2.0.3 Enterprise Edition. We are using the new feature "Composite Domain Index" for a Domain index on a very large table (>250.000.000 rows). It really works with mixed queries. We added two number columns using FILTER BY.We have lots of DML on this table. Therefore, we are executing synchronize and optimize once the week. The synch behaves pretty normal. But "optimize_index" takes a very very long time to complete. I have switsched on 'logging' for the optimize process. The $I table takes some time but is finished normally. But the optimization of the $S table (that is the table created for the CDI feature) is running over 12 hours now - and far from being finished. From the logfile, I can see that it optimizes 1000 rows every 20 minutes. Here is the output of the logfile:

I haven't found a recommendation from Oracle not to use "optimize_index" for Domain Indexes with CDI. But in my case, it would be much faster just to drop and recreate the Domain Index in question.

Business day=sould not include weekends and holidays.
In a table say ACTIVITY_XX I have all the month begin dates say 01-JAN-2010,01-FEB-2010,01-MAR-2010,01-APR-2010 and so on..and I have a HOLIDAY table where all the holidays are stored.
So using the above info I need to calculate the first business day for a given month. I guess this cannot be done by using a simple SQL query? I was wondering how could it be written using a PL/SQL function.
I'll be passing the month begin date as parameter..so the function should return the first business day for that month.
I have a field in Customers table called shipeddate....
I wnat to check the number of hours an item which has a shipeddate is in the store room to the current datetime...
But the business hrs of the store room are from 8am-5pm..
So when a shipped date is 4pm on MOnday

At present, if they log in through a GL responsibility they can see all GL folders, items and the returned data. If they then go to the AP business area, they can see the folders and items, but when they run a report they get an error message 'Query returned no data' - but if they run the same query using an AP responsibility they get the correct results. I have looked at their user set up, and it seems fine i.e. has access to all business areas and required priveledges.
