Installing Oracle 10g Developer Suite And Database Server

i installed oracle 10g dev suite do i still need to install the db 10g? i tried installing db10g first then the dev suite. On the db 10g i can connect via sqlplus. while i cannot connect on the dev suite, which has a 'sqlplus' too.
i am trying the hr:hr credentials, also tried sys as sysdba it gives me tns protocol adapter error (12560)
i tried to replace the tnsnames.ora of the devsuite with the tnsnames.ora of db10g still didn't work. i also set up the ORACLE_HOME to the db 10g's folder
D:ProgramsOracleproduct10.2.0db_1
why does the devsuite has its own tnsnames.ora. does it have some db server of its own? if it has do i still need to install db 10g?

When I try to install "Oracle Developer Suite 10g 10.1.2.0.2" on Windows 7, I'm getting error , " Install has encountered an error while attempting to verify your virtual memory settings. verify that the sum of the initial sizes of the paging files is atleast 256 MB."

I just upgraded our server to Oracle Fusion Middleware 11g with Forms and Reports and now I want to update the developers workstation too.
They have Oracle Developer Suite 10g R1 for the moment. The last version of Oracle Developer Suite is 10g R2 and I don't see anything for 11g. All I can find is that it's now in Fusion Middleware 11g and JDeveloper... But, from what I can see, JDeveloper is for Java development, not for Forms/Reports development.
So, do I need to use Oracle Developer Suite 10g R2 or is there a new version of it?

I am running an Oracle 9i DB with character set : FRENCH_FRANCE.WE8ISO8859P1.
The data inside the DB deals with two languages :
- French and Arabic.
I insert, delete, update data on the DB through one of these tools :
- SQL*PLUS
- Forms 6i
and everything works fine especially with Arabic : characters are interpreted correctly by these tools. Now, I want to use Dev Suite as a new tool.
My problem is with Arabic characters : they are not displayed correctly. On the web form (run by a JRE : JInitiator) the characters are not replaced by "?", they are wrongly interpreted.
Example :
The right interpretation of "Amine" in arabic is : أمين and not : Ããíä.
So, querying a table with Dev Suite returns me Ããíä and not ????.
It seems like the JRE "understands" the characters but doesn't know how to "interpret" the Arabic characters correctly. I've tried to play with the NLS_LANG parameter on the regedit but in vain.

I am trying to install Oracle 10g Developer suite.i am trying to install oracle forms & reports.have downloaded two zip files
ds_windows_x86_101202_disk1,
ds_windows_x86_101202_disk2.
i am in middle of the installation process. installor is not recognising the second one.
i gave the path to the second file. I tried from the disk by writing the file to the disk. but of no use.how do i complete this installation process.
Unable to find the product files specified by the disk labled 'OracleDEVsuite'. Unable to continue installation , please check the value specified in variable FROM_CD_LABEL matches with the value in file disk.label or check if the disk is accessable.
i havn't find any location or relevent info in ht edisk.label file.

So as luck would have it my Win XP OS crashed. Yes, its the office laptop and I cannot upgrade the OS for now. Anyhow, I got the whole machine re-imaged and installed 10g which had version 2.1 and everything was okay. I was earlier running apex 4.1.1. I could not find that setup on the oracle site so I downloaded apex 4.2 and ran the installation as per page

Everything went through properly except for step
5. Log back into SQL*Plus (as above) and load images:
SQL> @apxldimg.sql APEX_HOME
[Note: APEX_HOME is the directory you specified when unzipping the file. For example, with Windows 'C:'.]
where it asked me to enter the directory and I entered C:

I see a backslash and forward slash so I did a ctrl c . When I tried running the command again - @apxldimg.sql
it just would open the .sql file.
Not sure if this is the issue, but anyhow, after this, when I tried the "go to database page. It just shows a blank page. I was happy with 4.1.1. Is that available anywhere? Maybe I can remove XE and do a fresh install with that.

But i do a lot of work-arounds to make sure the installation does not make corrupt my OracleAgent,OracleService and OracleDataGatherer. If i just let the installation do its thing i have problems with my libraries, and can't start anything.
The errors are : Procedure entry point 'BlaBla' could not be located in the Dynamic Link library 'AnyName'.
I notice that i have 2 versions of the libraries in OracleHomeBIN (one version 8, one version 11). The programs that start the OracleAgent,Service and DataGatherer call the old libraries but expect to find values that can be found only in new libraries.

I instaledl Oracle Database 11g in my PC and try to login to it. I am able to log to it via SQLDeveloper but I can not login via SQLPLUS and I got ORA-12154. Here is my TNSname.ora and SQLplus.ora

Using SQL Developer I am able to login using oracle credentials but I dont see any option for SQL Server. I see both Oracle and Access. I am setting up a conversion server for upgrading an application database to a later version - the database is hosted on 11g but the vendor provided ETL tool only supports the Oracle 10g client. Is there a specific order so the install will work on the initial install. I'm installing Oracle 11g R1 (11.1 no patches) and 10g (10.1.0.4 after patching) 32Bit on a WIN2K3 SP2 Server. I've done this install before but have had to play with the path order to get it to work.
