i am trying to install Oracle 10.10.2.0 on Windows Server 2003 standard x64 Edition Service Pack, but when i try to run the installer or open DVD it gives me below error.
"The image file D: is Valid, but is for a machine type other than the current machine."
I have to migrate production database version 10gR2 on windows 2003 server to oracle 11gR2 on windows 2008 server . So far i have just installed the oracle software on 64bit windows 2008 server. How to move the data or migrate from old server to new server .
I have a 11g database installed on a windows 2003 server. When I created the database I could not assign more than 2GB for SGA_TARGET where as I have 16GB of RAM available on the server. I created the database with SGA_TARGET as 1.5 GB and Memory_TARGET as 2GB. I could create the database successfully. Later when I again tried to increase SGA_TARGET to 6GB and MEMORY_TARGET to 8GB, I could not start the database. I got below error;
ORA-27102: out of memory
OSD-00022: additional error information
O/S-Error: (OS 8) Not enough storage is available to process this command
Quote:I added /pae in the boot.ini Added AWE_WINDOW_SIZE key to registry as 2000000000 Set use_indirect_data_buffers=true added db_block_buffer=131072 (ie. 2GB DB_BLOCK_SIZE=16kb) java_pool_size= 1000M large_pool_size=1000M shared_pool_size=2000M
I got again the same error
I could not use SGA_TARGET. So is AMM not allowed with AWE?

I am developing an 64bit And-In software. My OS is windows7 64bit Ultimate. Developer tool is Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 Ultimate 64bit any-CUP.Server is SUN server and Oracle database 10.2.0.5 64bit enterprise edition.I have installed instantclient-odbc-win64-10.2.0.5 on my computer.I am able to connect through the command line sqlplus user/pass@server.In date source(c:windowssystem32odbcad32.exe), ODBC Driver connection successful. But in VS2010 C#, use Tools -> Connect Database,I get an error 193 (Oracle in instantclient10_2,c:ora10_64SQORA32.dll) cann't be loaded.SQORA32.dll is 32bit ODBC Driver or 64bit ODBC Driver? How can I connect database with vs2010 64bit?
Oracle 9i instalation problems in Windows Storage Server 2003.
I got the error "ORA-12546- TNS:Permission denied" when trying to install ORacle 9i in Windows Storage Server 2003. This error occurs at the time of Creating database.
I have Oracle 9i DB in windows 2003 server, I want to access this DB from Linux desktop. Is there any 'client software' is available to connect Or procedure to connect the DB.
i installed oracle 10g dev suite do i still need to install the db 10g? i tried installing db10g first then the dev suite. On the db 10g i can connect via sqlplus. while i cannot connect on the dev suite, which has a 'sqlplus' too.
i am trying the hr:hr credentials, also tried sys as sysdba it gives me tns protocol adapter error (12560)
i tried to replace the tnsnames.ora of the devsuite with the tnsnames.ora of db10g still didn't work. i also set up the ORACLE_HOME to the db 10g's folder
D:ProgramsOracleproduct10.2.0db_1
why does the devsuite has its own tnsnames.ora. does it have some db server of its own? if it has do i still need to install db 10g?
I have HP server with Windows 2008 Server R2 64bit. I installed latest 64-bit version of Oracle Database 10.2.0.4 and everything works fine and later installed the patch 10.2.0.5 (64 bits) as the Oracle maintains that with the R2 version of the system it is necessary to correct work.
Now, after uploading the patch database starts and closes after about 15 minutes - an additional log file is changed to the binary version which do not see anything.
how to solve problem? The move to Oracle 11 drops.
This is the link to my alert log file (it's strange after 10.2.0.5 patch installation):
I installed Oracle 10g (10.1) in Windows Server 2003 and i am able to connect to oracle using using SQL net. But when I tried to connect this using SQL Net from Windows XP, I am getting ORA-12560: TNS:protocol adapter error. But when I tried to connect as SYSDBA user, I am able to login in SQL plus. But for a normal user, not able to log in.
I was trying to delete the database in the test server. When i was deleting listener was already stopped, i continued deleting using dbca, it shown me some alert that datafiles cant be deleted because system could't find database, since listner was stopped so only service was deleted(the one showing in the windows administrator toolsservicesOracleServiceTEST).
All the datafile parameter files are still there. How can i delete the datafiles and parameter files belongs to that database or how to create the deleted service, so that i will start the listener and do the complete deleting of the database.

Im trying to install Weblogic/Forms on a Windows 7 x86 machine. Its for the developers to use.But when I run the config.bat and is creating the domain and installing Forms builder and the other stuff the installation hangs at: step restaring admin server started.

I wanted to transfer my database from Oracle 11.1.0. on windows 2003 server 32 bit to Oracle 11.2.0. windows server 2008 64 bit
i have done following
1)On new server of 11.2.0 windows 2008 64 bit use rman backup from Oracle 11.1.0. on windows 2003 server 32 bit to restore the database and recover the database when i try to open the database Alter database open it gave me message that i should start my database as upgrade I start the database with upgrade
STARTUP UPGRADE and then run following
@?/rdbms/admin/utlirp.sql
and then run following
@?/rdbms/admin/utlu112i.sql
and then run
@?/rdbms/admin/catupgrd.sql
during run of catupgrd.sql after around 30 minutes of run, i got error ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel
but i reconnected myself with database again and shutdown the database and open it in normal mode and it has opened there were thousands of uncompiled objects and i recompiled them.
Only uncompiled objects left 60 are 'OLAPSYS' (Locked user) USER and 30 of PUBLIC user (all Synonyms)
Have i taken correct steps?
What should i do now to check that everything will be alright in future
We have a .NET application on windows server 2008 32bit using the stored procedures on an Oracle 10g environment. We are trying to deploy the .NET application onto a 64bit x86 Windows server 2008.
We face an error trying to install the x64 version of the Oracle 10g client on windows 2008. The error we get is Problem signature:
Problem Event Name: APPCRASH Application Name: javaw.exe
Is the x64 version of the Oracle 10g client certified for Windows 2008? Has anyone successfully installed the 64bit version of the oracle client on win2008?
We have a workaround in place with 32 bit version of the client running with the 32 bit version of the .NET application on x64 win2008. However to maximize the infrastructure we need to use the 64 bit version or we would have to turn to MSSQL Server .
I have oracle XE installed on my machine and it was working absolutely fine for the last year or so. Today there was an trojan intrusion which caused some issues with my windows xp OS like hiding some files, desktop etc. After everything was cleaned up and things back to normal. I am having issues with XE.
1. I can start and stop XE with out any issues 2. When I use the run sql command line, I can connect using - connect sys/sys as sydba. 3. I can also run a query to see all the users and see the HR user also.
However, 1. When I connect to my hr user using connect hr/password@xe, it just hangs 2. I tried the- go to Oracle XE admin page but it just hangs for a long time and returns page cannot be found. 3. I can tnsping the xe instance.
Is a fresh install the only option? or is there any way to correct this using the sys/sys user?
I am trying to find the unix process for one of my application in the database but I am unable to view the same. To simulate, I did the following.
1. My database runs on different server. 2. I invoked "sqlplus" from another unix box to login to the database. 3. I found that the process id (ps -ef |grep sqlplus). 4. When I execute the below mentioned query it does not display the process id that I am looking for. But the osuser, username, program and machine details are correct. How can I know the process details from the database?
SELECT SYS.GV_$SESSION.OSUSER, SYS.GV_$SESSION.USERNAME, SYS.GV_$PROCESS.SPID, SYS.GV_$SESSION.MACHINE, SYS.GV_$SESSION.PROGRAM, SYS.GV_$PROCESS.PROGRAM ,SYS.GV_$SESSION.SQL_ID FROM SYS.GV_$PROCESS, SYS.GV_$SESSION WHERE SYS.GV_$PROCESS.ADDR=SYS.GV_$SESSION.PADDR and SYS.GV_$SESSION.USERNAME='TEST' and SYS.GV_$SESSION.MACHINE like '%hostname%'
