I have facing problem while taking backup on Windows 7 client of Oracle 11g R2 database. I have installed oracle 11gR2 for windows on windows 7 machine. I have created a directory like below in database.
On Database Server
SQL> create directory win_expdp_dir as 'd:expimp';
Directory created.
SQL> grant read, write on directory win_expdp_dir to lab;
Grant succeeded.
On Windows 7 machine (client machine)
D:appproduct11.2.0client_1BIN>expdp lab/lab@wbdata.wbh-db11g DIRECTORY=win_expdp_dir DUMPFILE=lab.dmp LOGFILE=lab.log Export: Release 11.2.0.1.0 - Production on Mon May 2 12:51:44 2011 Copyright (c) 1982, 2009, Oracle and/or its affiliates. All rights reserved. Connected to: Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.2.0.1.0 - Production With the Partitioning, OLAP, Data Mining and Real Application Testing options ORA-39002: invalid operation ORA-39070: Unable to open the log file.

We have a .NET application on windows server 2008 32bit using the stored procedures on an Oracle 10g environment. We are trying to deploy the .NET application onto a 64bit x86 Windows server 2008.
We face an error trying to install the x64 version of the Oracle 10g client on windows 2008. The error we get is Problem signature:
Problem Event Name: APPCRASH Application Name: javaw.exe
Is the x64 version of the Oracle 10g client certified for Windows 2008? Has anyone successfully installed the 64bit version of the oracle client on win2008?
We have a workaround in place with 32 bit version of the client running with the 32 bit version of the .NET application on x64 win2008. However to maximize the infrastructure we need to use the 64 bit version or we would have to turn to MSSQL Server .
i have a question about oracle database 9i in windows server 2003 R1 X86 . I set the parameter of pga_aggregate_target=1000M and 500M sometimes i found after few days that error message appear to client
ORA-12500 TNS:listener failed to start a dedicated server process
when i try to connect from the server sometimes logon and sometimes another message appear
We have been upgrading our servers to Server2008 and are getting..
[ORA-3134: Connections to this server version are no longer supported.]
..using the drivers we used to use in XP and Server2003 to access a legacy Oracle7 db. Connections to this db are needed for typical CRUD functionality by multiple applications, some written in Classic ASP and some in C# .NET 3.5 & 4.0. I have tried ODBC drivers (System.Data.Odbc) and also ODP (Oracle.DataAccess.Client) to no avail.
Any existing driver solution to make this connection without have to resort to a custom HLI interface?
I would think we aren't the only ones needing to access Oracle7 from Server2008.
I want to apply patch 13 to 11.2.0.3 database for windows server 2008 R2. I saw the pre requisites and found that opatch should be 11.2.0.1.9 or later. My optach is 11.2.0.1.7. I downloaded the patch # 11846294 and unzipped under the opatch directory. In one of the step it asked me to run the following command
but then it says oplan is not recognized. I have set the Oracle_home and path variable
my path is C:Oraclegrid_homein;C:Oracledbhome_1in;C:Oraclegridin;%SystemRoot%system32;%SystemRoot%;%SystemRoot%System32Wbem;%SYSTEMROOT%System32WindowsPowerShellv1.0;C:Program FilesArcGISArcSDEora11gexein;C:Program FilesXIVhost_attachin;C:Oracledbhome_1oplan
Note that my database version is 11.2.0.3 with ASM
I am trying to setup incremental backup on my windows OS based server using RMAN command in batch file. When I use batch file in OS scheduler it is working fine, when I am calling same batch file from my LOCAL desktop PC it throws errors as below.

i am trying to install Oracle 10.10.2.0 on Windows Server 2003 standard x64 Edition Service Pack, but when i try to run the installer or open DVD it gives me below error.

I'm trying to write a bat file for the rman backups that can be used for any of our databases. I'm passing variables into the bat file and that is working fine (i.e. oracle_sid, drive letter, oracle_home), my problem is when the rman actually runs and calls the ctl file, the variables aren't being passed thru to that file.

I have a 11g database installed on a windows 2003 server. When I created the database I could not assign more than 2GB for SGA_TARGET where as I have 16GB of RAM available on the server. I created the database with SGA_TARGET as 1.5 GB and Memory_TARGET as 2GB. I could create the database successfully. Later when I again tried to increase SGA_TARGET to 6GB and MEMORY_TARGET to 8GB, I could not start the database. I got below error;
ORA-27102: out of memory
OSD-00022: additional error information
O/S-Error: (OS 8) Not enough storage is available to process this command
Quote:I added /pae in the boot.ini Added AWE_WINDOW_SIZE key to registry as 2000000000 Set use_indirect_data_buffers=true added db_block_buffer=131072 (ie. 2GB DB_BLOCK_SIZE=16kb) java_pool_size= 1000M large_pool_size=1000M shared_pool_size=2000M
I got again the same error
I could not use SGA_TARGET. So is AMM not allowed with AWE?
I have Oracle 9i DB in windows 2003 server, I want to access this DB from Linux desktop. Is there any 'client software' is available to connect Or procedure to connect the DB.
I am trying to return a value of an oracle stored procedure using Excel VBA.
OS: Win XP SP3 Excel 2003 Ora Client: 11g
By trying different things I have noticed, that I could have troubles with the ODBC-connection. Maybe I am not using the right one. To store data returned from select statements I have an ODBC-Connection (Driver: Oracle in XE), which works perfectly, e.g.:
'----------------------- Sub Extract_Data() Dim cn As ADODB.Connection Dim rs As ADODB.Recordset Dim db_name, UserName, Password As String cn.Open db_name, USerName, Password
[code]....
When debugging the connection string, I find the Provider=MSDASQL5.1.
