I need to figure out which Oracle Database packages are installed on a certain server.
First problem: no Enterprise Manager available. So I need some command line tools or SQL statements.
I've already found some with them I was able to spot RAC, partitioning and so on. But I'm still missing a option/command to spot

- tuning pack
- web logic

I am migrating an oracle 10g to 11gR2. i am a bit confused. The developers in my work place have a tablespace for storing table and a different tablespace for storing indexes.
For the migration i am using exp and imp. My question is how i am going to migrate the indexes from 10g to 11gR2?
OS; solaris sparc 10
Oracle 10g: 10.2.0.1.0
oracle 11g: 11.2.0.1.0
We have oracle 10gR2 RAC with ASM running on HP-UX. The archivelogs are located in a NFS filesystem and we want to move this into ASM.

When I write bangla in the "emp_name" field for employee name this can be save, But when I execute to see the data again then the data comes with a big change like some symbol for some character.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have installed Oracle 10gR2 database server recently in the Windows box. The database works fine. But I am unable to connect through the Internet Explorer. I found that the service for the isqlplus is not available. Do I need to run any script for creating the service?
View 12 Replies View RelatedJust now my database is hang due to the archivelog full. I try to use RMAN to delete the expired one and free space but encounter the error:
RMAN>crosscheck archivelog all;

[code].......
So I try to back it up first by using the below command:
RMAN> backup archivelog all;
Starting backup at 04-JUN-13
using channel ORA_DISK_1
channel ORA_DISK_1: starting archive log backupset
channel ORA_DISK_1: specifying archive log(s) in backup set

I know that I have to extend the db_recovery_file_dest directory for "limit exceed" error but how can I safely delete the archivelog in order to bring up the database?
I am new in oracle I have installed Oracle in work group, while i work group it is working fine. But latter I have change the server from work group to domain. At that time Oracle was not working , not able to connect.
After that I change the Domain to work group again. And same problem exist. But I found that lsnrctl is working fine. But OracleServiceXXX is not able to startup in services.msc
I have an update Oracle database 11g installed on ZFS Storage, and I need to make cloning for it. HCC feature is enabled.
How can I make this?
Using RMAN backup + ZFS Snapshot + ZFS Cloning ?
Why is knowing the backup policy important before starting any upgrade.

My boss has assigned me a task to check/audit a existing PROD + other databases which was configured (in a server or servers) by previous dba who have left with no documentation.I am just given the server ip and root password.
-How do you attack this kind of task?
-How do you know how many databases were installed in a given server/machine?
-How do you get all the oracle_home being defined or used?
Is /etc/oratab enough to start with?Is oraInventory enough to know all the databases installed? Is this keyword unique, and kind be search using "find / -name "oraInventory"?Do I need to find the existent of the "oracle" exec in all "bin" since this is the unique identifier of an OracleHome?
Here are the cards I've been dealt:
I've inherited a 10.2.0.1.0 instance running on a windows 2003 box; running fine, no problems other than system has been in production since 2005 and has gotten pretty old and tired. This old box has one tablespace on it... called "gateway".
I've installed 11.2.0.1 on a new (Windows 2008 R2 Enterprise 64-bit) server and created an empty database also called "gateway".
Now to move the data and views, objects, everything.
I've read up on a variety of migration techniques (oops, I mean "upgradation" LOL) and can follow the steps...
In short, I want to pull everything off of server a (10.2) and put it into production on server b (11.2). There seems to be quit a few options.
1. install 10.2 on my NEW server (server b), move the data over and get everything running, then install 11.2 and have it upgrade the database as part of the installation process.
2. drop the empty tablespace on server b, stop the database on server a, copy the files over from the old to the new home, run DBUA or set the compatibility attribute...
3. run some type of server a to server b utility that can bridge the two over the network. Some type of mirroring technique?
4. run file export scripts on server a, copy files to server b and run various import scripts
I tend to think that option 3 would be the best because both instances are in great health and are running right now. Is there a mechanism that allows the 11.2 instance to see and upgrade from a different server?
I want to create the .psp(pl/sql ser pages) reports in the oracle database 10gr2.but i am unable to do it why because it needs http server(knew by going through some of the oracle docs but not able to understand) where i find this first of all details configuration needed for the .psp files.

I have a database running on 10205 version. It is a RAC database with ASM storage.
I want to migrate this database to other server and upgrade this database to 11202 version .
I need to do the following:
(1) Move my 10gR2 database from 32-bit Linux to 11gR2 64-Bit Linux (using an RMAN backup from 10gR2 restored on the 64-bit machine) then
(2) Bring up the database on 64-bit hardware and then upgrade to 11.2.0.3 (64-Bit) [Without installing the 10.2.0.3 64-Bit software]
Haven't tried restoring to 11.2.0.3 from a RMAN 10.2.0.3 backup. I was trying not to have to install the Oracle 10.2.0.3 software for 64-bit on the 64-bit machine. Was hoping to go directly to 11.2.0.3 (64-bit).
At my current organization there are two instances are running one is at 8i and another one is 10g. I want to migrate all the data from 8i to 10g. I have already taken the export from 8i with the below command:-
exp file=<<PATH>> full=y logfile=<<PATH>> compress=y
Now I want to import it to 10g DB. Can I do the import with that below command?
imp file=<<PATH>> full=y logfile=<<PATH>> ignore=y compile=y
I am trying to setup my environment to prepare for hands on DBA exercises from an OCM handbook for 10g -OCM:Oracle Database 10g Administrator Certified Master Exam Guide
I need access to the following files
gc_10205_part1of2.zip, gc_10205_part2of2.zip for 32 bit linux
Apparently the above along with other Grid software was once attainable from the link below but sometime between this year and the last Oracle decided to remove this and other software from public access. URL.....
I doubt Oracle will hear my plea - educational purposes only - so given I want access to the software only.
I'm trying to download Oracle RDBMS 10.2.0.5 for Windows Server 2008 R2. But i don't see it on OTN or edelivery....i can't find any link...Have i to request a SR on metalink?
