What two Active Directory services are stopped when you install Active Directory before Oracle 10g? I know the error message for that and I know why it happened but I just need to know the two services so I can start them again. I think it happened because I installed Active Directory first so when I installed Oracle second it stopped two services and I just need to know them. The error message is:
Active Directory is missing binaries, please restart and try again
our DB machines time is one hour ahead of Active Directory, as we sync our time with AD, is there any contribution of Database in the wrong time of solaris machines ? and for the resolution of problem, what can be checked at DB side.
I've Googled several times but the result is 50% null ^_^
How can I use the Active Directory to route the clients request to the Oracle Database server so that I can do the basic operation on the Oracle DB remotely.
I'm checking the possibility to use Active Directory to log on the our Oracle databases. But only for dba's and developers, not application users. We use Oracle 10.2.0.4 (and soon 11g) As OS on the databaseserver we use AIX5L 5.3
Is it possible to implement Active Directory on databases running on AIX ? If it is possible, what must be done to get it to work, software ... etc ?
I have a table in Oracle with a column userid and i have a userid column in Active Directory. based on this i want to query the Network ID and update in one of the Group in the Active Directory. how to get the results?
I was trying to delete the database in the test server. When i was deleting listener was already stopped, i continued deleting using dbca, it shown me some alert that datafiles cant be deleted because system could't find database, since listner was stopped so only service was deleted(the one showing in the windows administrator toolsservicesOracleServiceTEST).
All the datafile parameter files are still there. How can i delete the datafiles and parameter files belongs to that database or how to create the deleted service, so that i will start the listener and do the complete deleting of the database.
I have oracle 10g up and running on Solaris 10, from windows I would like to connect to sql plus through windows authentication, for that I have already made sure that remote_auth = true and have created user in oracle with OPS$. But still I cannot connect.
I have the same setup but with oracle on windows server, the os authentication from windows clients works just fine.
does oracle 10g on solaris 10 supports windows os authentication?
My problem is when trying to use oradmin.exe. It doesn't exists apparently. I have Database Creation Assistant and Net Creation Assistant, I can open and run sqlplux.exe and run sql commands, but oradmin.exe seems to be missing.

I have download and installed the trial version of oracle 11g enterprise on windows 2008 r2 in vmware workstation. on 6th of August at 02:36 our following cluster services were down,i see the logs and found that ASM is down and disk group are not accessible and ASMb process is terminated and both instances was restarted, i checked the cluster services so five services were down and these are

I restarted the services and they were successfully up and application become available . What can be the reason of the service failure?

Restarting oracle services through services.msc is faster then manual (In command prompt).
Even If we have heavy transaction on the oracle database But we can restart the database within minutes by using services.msc But It will take more time in command prompt(sql>shu immediate). So shall we assume here that services.msc is using shut abort command while restarting the database?
My database is running in oracle 10g. I have more than 25 oracle directories which are being used for batch/reporting jobs. I found read and write privileges are missing for 7 Dirs. I checked the last ddl time, it shows Jan 26th.

We have Root disk on all the unix servers and is mirrored using SVM using the internal disks. Also VxVM 5.0 MP3 is used as the volume manager to manage the SAN space allocated to the servers. On some instances, SVM is also used for allocating filesystem for application and database

I want to use SSIS,when i use oracle 10g as a data source to SQL Server 2008 as Destination, it gives error ora-01017 invalid username/password logon denied, i did normal oracle installation and give full privileges(sysdba or sysoper) to the user(sys,system...),when i check connection it shows test connection succeeded but when click on next it gives above error.
I was trying to connect to SQL server from Oracle using Oracle heterogeneous services (HS).But I found that I do not have HS installed on my system. It was mentioned in Oracle website that we need to run 'caths.sql' script under the path $ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/admin.
But I do not have any such folder(rdbms) in my $ORACLE_HOME.What does it mean? And how can I install HS alone on my system(Since I already have oracle)
we have received an arror on 7 Mar 2012 which is is follows

the above error was reported in alert log at 1150 hrs and then a file was added by the local DBA at 1820 hrs i.e after 6 hours.Now my query is that is there any relation of this error with the BLOB missing from database or if not so what harmful effect there may be on Database as datafile was added after 6 hours
secondly when i see the DF_M12 tablespace usage at EM so its total size is 86 Gb and used is 76Gb but when i see its datafiles so it shows a different story which is opposite to the reported used space i.e only one datafile is showing 25g and rest are not showing any space which means that something is missing so i doubt it is this may be the reason of missing blob or not

howto to setup an oracle server and "import" my old databases just from the copied directory structure d:\oracle\product\... ("cold backup") to the new install.i was trying to setup an new server by shutting down the db and just copying back my data/control/log/*.ora files which doesnt seem to work.
i could see the old tables structures in the local sqlplus console, but the databases are not reachable over the net. also the enterprise manager is not able to startup the dbs, it show just an running listener.
I am new to Oracle DBA. m facing one problem. i imported and exported my data from one oracle DB to another by using exp/imp.....in both exp/imp log files, its shows the fallowing messages at the end.

but when i count there are some rows missing in some tables...
what could be the cause? is there any other way to cross check whether export/import was successful...
I am getting starting with rac environments. I need to configure a two nodes active/active with rac and I need to know if always using rac both nodes will be active or if I have to do that at some point when installing. I have reading some docs from oracle and others authors about rac and its configuration process but that is not understood for my yet.
