for example, the components for my oracle-vb connection. Why I need to uninstall? Because I got locked out of the System account:, I can't change my password.

RAC & Failsafe :: ASM Candidate Disks Not Found On Grid Reinstall

I am trying to install 2-node 11gR2 RAC on CentOS 5.6 using VMWare Fusion. I'm in the middle of Grid Infrastructure installation and while choosing the ASM diskgroups I don't see any candidate disks but when I click on all disks i can see them but can't select them.

I tried installing the grid before and ended up with and issue running the root.sh on all the nodes so had to deconfigure the grid binaries using the rootcrs.pl and then deinstalled the grid software using the ./desintall utility.

when tried installing again ...I ran the cluvfy utility ..it doesn't show any errors.

Data Guard :: Setting Up Physical Standby On Server With Different Structure

Jun 28, 2012

I am having a few issues trying to set up a physical standby database.

The primary database has a different naming structure than the standby and they are at different sites.

Physical is /var/hpsrp/ctrorp03/oradata/u0x/<DB_NAME>/<DB_UNIQUE_NAME> and standby is /var/hpsrp/drforp03/oradata/u0x/<DB_NAME>/<DB_UNIQUE_NAME>.

I have set db_file_name_convert to '<PRIMARY PATH>', '<STANDBY PATH>' times the number of paths as pairs. I have created a blank database for standby and having taken a full backup of primary with control file and standby control file.

Now I hit the issues:

The DB incarnation numbers are different. When I try and do a normal restore e.g. set dbid, restore controlfile; mount; it fails as it is trying to find files in the primary structure and not standby structure. When I try renaming via set newname or auxname it can't find files to restore I guess due to the incarnation id's. If I set the incarnation id and try to restore backup it fails as the incarnation id's don't match.

I have tried looking through various forums and the documentation but can't find a solution, probably can't see the wood for the trees though as there is so much.

Precompilers, OCI & OCCI :: Passing Array Of Structure To Oracle Procedure And Returning Back?

Apr 29, 2010

SQL> create table test_proc

test_name varchar2(10),

Table created.

TEST_NAME TEST_VER ACTIVE_FLAG

AFP 1.5 2
PSA 11.89 0
EHIV 99.5 3
aHAVM 1.45 9

Installation :: OS Backup Will Be Taken From Existing Server

Sep 28, 2012

Oracle Database version: 11.2.0.2 / sparc / 64bit.
Os Version: Solaris 10 with update 6(or more).

Requirement:
OS backup (without Oracle binary/software and database) will be taken from existing server. The server will be "zoned"(container or may call virtual machine). The backup will be restored on the vm; all database related mount point will be there. Installation of same Oracle software and creation of test database.

Scenario:
Before starting oracle installation i am on an OS in which the oracle software was previously installed. But the software files/binaries are not present. I am just putting the software again through installation. Now all the prerequisites are met and oracle project/user/group is already there as os is backed up from previous working setup.

Question:
What should i take care for this installation? Is it will be a simple installation just running the runinstaller?
