Adding Hundreds Of New Rows To Table Quickly

Jul 13, 2007

Ive got loads of new entries that need to be entered into a table if they're not in there already.

Is there a quick way of doing this rather than having to add the entries manually using some kind of tool rather than using manual sql statements(would take a very long time since theres 800 new entries).?

SQL & PL/SQL :: Adding High And Low To Zip Plus Four Values?

Jan 19, 2011

I have a table with zip codes and their plus four values. For ex: zip code of 10000, which has corresponding plus four values of 001, 002, 003, and 008, 009, 010. The issue is just that--a zip code can have sequential plus four values, and then it will skip several potential plus four values, and then start again. I would like to assign a low plus 4 value and high plus four value to a zip code, keeping in mind that the plus four values are not always sequential. So, it would be similar to this:

zip plus4 low plus4 high
10000 001 003
10000 008 010

Triggers weren't covered in my course so only know a few basic statements.

Adding A New Node In Oracle RAC

CODEaddNode -silent

"CLUSTER_NEW_VIRTUAL_HOSTNAMES={node3-vip}"

the output was "The cluster node addition <path> was successful".

But when I tried the following command,

CODEcluvfy stage -post nodeadd -node3

I got an error stating

PL/SQL :: Adding Columns To Count Contents Of Other?

how to incorporate counts into my current SQL code  that would count food items, and then car items for each person. Once I understand this concept I hope to apply it to my real database (in Oracle) where I am counting medications and problems for each patient. For example using my test data below, the my goal would be to have count columns show that Cathy had 3 food count and a 1 cars item (the count would need to ignore the null values in these  columns). I don't really care if the count value repeats in every row for that person.

 Select data1.Name, data1.Category,Data1.Results,Case When data1.Category IN ('food') then data1.results end FOOD,Case When data1.Category IN ('Cars')then data1.Results end CARSFROM(Select T1.name Name, null Category, null Results from a_Main T1, a_Food T2 Where T1.cpi_seq = T2.CPI_SEQUNION Select T1.name, 'food', T2.Food  from a_Main T1, a_Food T2 Where T1.cpi_seq = T2.CPI_SEQUNIONSelect T1.name, 'cars',  T3.Cars  from a_Main T1, a_Cars T3 Where T1.cpi_seq = T3.CPI_SEQ)data1where data1.Category is not nullorder by Name,

Adding New Node Back To Cluster Via Documentation

Apr 10, 2012

I have a 3 node RAC server on Windows Server 2008. Last week the hard drive went out on one of the nodes and I have had to rebuild as I could not recover anything.

I went through and deleted the old node and now I have just finished adding the new node back to my cluster via documentation. Once I created the new instance on that server DBCA attempted to start and it failed gaving me a crs error. I found out later that the other 2 nodes went down and the new one that did not start correctly was the only one up!! I went and stopped the new instance and restarted the first 2. The associated services did not start with the instance so I had to start each manually. The trace files show an ORA-29702 error with cluster group service and the instance being stopped on both of the existing nodes. No other error messages stood out.

Now I cannot get any crs services to start on that 3rd node even if I attempt to start manually. I have also tried stopping all and restarting and that does not work. I found another post on this forum from you and followed it. The ASM service was fine the entire time through all the logs and I don't know how to verify LMON in Windows but I didn't see any LMON errors in the alert log. Also, the voting disks are online. Each node has their own and they are mirrored. Where else to look?

Forms :: Adding A Save (Update) Button

Nov 28, 2012

I have one form where I have let's say 2 items that I want to manage. One is a List Item and the other Text Item. Both are based on one table. The List Item is not updatable (Update Allowed is set to NO) and there I have some types of houses for example (T -> tall house, B -> Big house, S -> Small house it's not important so much) and the Text Item is for counting the types for example we have 4 houses of type T and if we add another one in the textItem we will see 5, so it's not counter for all houses but it counts types of houses and that item is not updatable nor insertable (Update allowed and Insert allowed are set to NO) so it's only purpose is just to show how many hauses we have of particular type and automatically increases the number if we insert new house. Beside this two items I have another Items that conatin some informations about the house (How many flats, doors, windows, and so on..). you've got the picture of my form and table.

Now I want to add one button with trigger WHEN-BUTTON-PRESSED that will do this. If I want to change the type of the house after I inserted it and save it in the table, I have to just change the type in the List Item (choose another type) and press the button to save the same house with the same properties I would say (How many flats, doors, windows, and so on..) but with another type. First when I press the button it must ask me if I am sure that I want to make that change (I'll make an allert fot that) and if I press OK or Yes my house will be saved just with the different type and the previous house with the previous type must be erased. And in the textItem 'the counter', the number of the new type must encrease for one and the previous type must decrease for one.

I hope you understand what I want to do and all I need is that trigger to manage this problem of mine. I know it's possible to do but I am quite new in DB programming and I am not very good with programming in PL/SQL.
