I want to read and write data from a file in | seprated mode. file READ and WRITE using Oracle Forms6i. I have a knowledge of file handling in C++ but not use it in Oracel Form before this.
How do I check for the data in the DMP file.
Actually I have done some search but with no result. I have to check the oracle DMP file which is being sent through the EXP utility from oracle and have to search for a pattern in the file. If the pattern in found then send a mail.
I have tried using the GREP on the DMP and SED but as the lines are longer than expected these are not providing desired results.
I have external file like (.csv or .txt) which contain million of record...i wnat to upload it in backend by using form 6i/10g.
by using package text_io.fopen i read it and by using for..loop conventional method insert record into table...but it will take time..
Is there any way like we use bulk collect and FORALL in backend for inserting data into table..
Is there any way to read external file at a time and insert it ...so minimize inserting time....process will become fast.

What i have done so far is to use utl_file to create a csv file on the oracle server and am now attempting to transfer this file.
I was going to use scp or rcp but am unable to get this to work(was looking at filezilla). Another option i can use is ftp as i have a UNIX script which i can run to do this. All this is done through an oracle package which is run hourly through dbms_scheduler. I have been using sp_host_command to run unix commands directly from pl/sql so can use this to run a unix script for last resort if i cant find an easier way to automate this.
I need a tutorial for using utl_file package to read and load in to oracle data.
Oracle is in Linux box.

I need to insert about 15000 rows into a table called STOCK_ADJUST What is needed for the insert it two columns:
STM_AUTO_KEY and COST_ADJ
These two values I have in a CSV-file. Now I want to import these rows into the database... How do I do this in the most easy way? If it was just one row I would do it like this Insert into
STOCK_ADJUST (COST_ADJ, STM_AUTO_KEY) VALUES(-500, 174500)
But with 15000 rows in a CSV file this isn't going to work...

I need to take a snapshot of a table before insert or update happens to that table.... in oracle 10g. I am reading the MV docs from oracle and below link..
[URL].......
how MV should be written for this and how to schedule it in dbms_jobs for auto refresh?
assuming that t1 is the table where DML operation are goin to happen so before any insert or update, snapshot has to be taken, and I am assuming that to do this it would look something like this?
create materialized view my_view refresh fast as select * from t1;
create materialized view log on my_view;
and then schedule in a dbms_jobs?
