Oracle 9 Is Incompatible With Version Or Windows

Nov 9, 2010

I am trying to install Oracle 9i 32bit client on a windows 2008 server 64 bit OS. In the installation once I select the Oracle home directory and click on Next the whole pc just hangs. Nothing happens. When I checked the Application log I see an error with the following information.

the application (Oracle 9, from vendor Oracle) has the following problem. Oracle 9 is incompatible with this version or windows. For more information, contact Oracle.

Importing From A Dump File - Incompatible Version Number

Sep 3, 2012

import from dump (.dmp) file. I'm running Oracle database 11g Enterprise edition release 11.1.0.6.0.

the import statement I'm using is

impdp system/password@orcl full=Y DIRECTORY=data_pump_dir dumpfile=mydmpfile.dmp logfile=min.log

and the error I'm getting is "incompatible versionnumber 3.1 in the dumpfile mydmpfile.dmp"

The dump file was exported using oracle 11.2.0.2.0. I tried to download/unzip the client version of instantclient 11.2.0.2 and add it to the PATH variable in windows and then re-run the script, but it didn't work.

How I should go from here to import this dump file without reinstalling the whole database?

Windows :: Mismatched Oracle Drivers / Upgrade Version

Jun 26, 2012

We are running Oracle Enterprise software on various client and DB servers and we are experiencing a problem (outlined here [URL] .....) where the apparent mismatch between the oracle drivers are causing the errors.

Our db servers are using 10.2.0.4 and 10.2.0.5 drivers and the clients are using 10.2.0.1.

Firstly, are the drivers the same on the Express and Enterprise editions so that if I update a development server using Express version (I don't have the authority to upgrade the Enterprise version nor the time to commission that) and it is successful, can I reasonably expect an upgrade to the Enterprise client versions on other servers to be safe/error free, baring environmental factors of course ?

Secondly, can I upgrade to version 10.2.0.5 now or do I have to go to the 11g version only ?

PL/SQL :: Oracle Jobs Incompatible

Nov 20, 2012

I have a procedure that needs to be scheduled as a job. This procedure takes an average of 20-25 minutes to complete. The constraint is that these jobs are submitted using dbms_job.submit with an interval of 5 minutes.

For Example:

Job1 Procedure_B 20-Nov-12 21:05:00
Job2 Procedure_B 20-Nov-12 21:10:00
Job3 Procedure_B 20-Nov-12 21:15:00
Job4 Procedure_B 20-Nov-12 21:20:00

So, will Job2 execute only after Job1 completes [even though Job1 takes 25 minutes to complete] or is there any other mechanism for setting incompatibility for a job with itself.

Precompilers, OCI & OCCI :: PRO*C Compiler Version Versus Database Version

Oct 15, 2010

We are planning to upgrade a database from 9.2.0.8.0 to 10.2.0.4.0.We have a lot a PRO*C programs pre compiled using 9.2.0.8.0 (and most likely even 9.2.0.7.0) compiler.

if we could upgrade the database without having to re-compile all the programs.We have tested this approach against some of our programs. Most of them executed fine - but in 2 cases we are getting "ORA-01001 invalid cursor". I suspect, that the case is that Pre compiler version 9 is not supported against 10g databases - but I am not sure.

Would it be a better option to upgrade Pre compiler/client as the first step and the db as the second step (and would that be supported) ? We definitely don't want to upgrade both Pre compiler/Client and the Database in one goal - that would be too risky.

Data Guard :: Configuration - Incompatible Media Recovery Is Active

Dec 1, 2011

I have created dataguard between two instances hosted in two different servers. I have done switchover from primary to standby & then again standby to primary with DGMGRL utility.

1- When I done switchover to primary & trying to open standby database in readonly mode it was giving below error-

ORA-01154: database busy. Open, close, mount, and dismount not allowed now

Why this error was coming ?

2- As I was not able to open standby database in read only mode, I have executed below command-

alter database recover managed standby database disconnect from session;

which return an error as-

ORA-01153: an incompatible media recovery is active

After this I have executed-

alter database recover managed standby database cancel;

which executed successfully.

& then after standby database open in read only mode.

Why above error was coming ?

3- After this I had tried to check the checkpoint_change# & controlfile_change# from primary database and result shows both number were different.

Why they are not matching ?

Windows :: Unable To Install Oracle 10g Client On 64bit Windows 2008

Jul 16, 2008

We have a .NET application on windows server 2008 32bit using the stored procedures on an Oracle 10g environment. We are trying to deploy the .NET application onto a 64bit x86 Windows server 2008.

We face an error trying to install the x64 version of the Oracle 10g client on windows 2008. The error we get is Problem signature:

Problem Event Name: APPCRASH
Application Name: javaw.exe

Is the x64 version of the Oracle 10g client certified for Windows 2008? Has anyone successfully installed the 64bit version of the oracle client on win2008?

We have a workaround in place with 32 bit version of the client running with the 32 bit version of the .NET application on x64 win2008. However to maximize the infrastructure we need to use the 64 bit version or we would have to turn to MSSQL Server .

PL/SQL :: Oracle Version Is 10g - Bulk Update?

Apr 18, 2013

My oracle version is 10g.I want to update a table which has 2 million rows and 20 columns. I want to update 3 columns in my table based on a query output.

Say:-
select decode(col1,'a',col2,col3) up_col1, decode(col5,'Y',20,30)* col6 up_col2, col7 up_col3 from base_tab a, update_tab b where a.key = b.key

I tried the simple update SQL, it hangs and never comeback even after 2 hrs.So I resort to PLSQL to complete my job using bulk collect with limits. Now I am stumbled upon with the Bulk update step.I referred to the BULK Update example given in [URL]...

I gone by 9i approach, I got invalid rowid error. Since the example doesn't uses a join.

I am little bit worried to go by 10g approach given in the example. I have to fetch entire row from my update table. My update table has 5 varchar(1000) fields. Anyway I am not going to affect them in my update. Whether it will occupy memory and again leads to hanging of my procedure.
