Windows :: Detect Oracle Version And Platform Installed?
Mar 14, 2012
Is there a way to check which versions or oracle installed on the machine from command line?
The thing is I don't want to login to the database so I can't use SQL Plus also, till now I ran tnsping and checked the output but in case there are several versions of different platform I got only one version that was first on the path env.
Migration of oracle forms 10g 32 bit windows platform to 11g 64bit Linux platform . I have about 500 fmb on my 10g environment which are currently working fine but when i go to compile it on 11g an error file is generated. All my path is set in proper manner .
I have a object library which has multiple tabs and every tab has its own object. While compiling, the forms are not inheriting the object values only few values from the object are considered.
Can I directly upgrade Oracle 9.2.0.1.0 From RHEL-4 platform to Oracle 11g Rel 2 on RHEL -5 platform?I have the export dump and cold backup of Oracle 9.2.0.1.0 database.
I am trying to install Oracle 9i 32bit client on a windows 2008 server 64 bit OS. In the installation once I select the Oracle home directory and click on Next the whole pc just hangs. Nothing happens. When I checked the Application log I see an error with the following information.
the application (Oracle 9, from vendor Oracle) has the following problem. Oracle 9 is incompatible with this version or windows. For more information, contact Oracle.
Need some input from you on ASM Configuration for Windows XP platform.
1)First I executed the script as below: <orahome>inlocalconfig add
2) And I had created folder like below manually. c:asmdisksasmdisk1
3) And now I am firing the below command: ASMTOOL -create c:asmdisksasmdisk1 250
At this stage I am getting the below error. ====================================== O/S-Error: <OS 5> Access is Denied ======================================
We are running Oracle Enterprise software on various client and DB servers and we are experiencing a problem (outlined here [URL] .....) where the apparent mismatch between the oracle drivers are causing the errors.
Our db servers are using 10.2.0.4 and 10.2.0.5 drivers and the clients are using 10.2.0.1.
Firstly, are the drivers the same on the Express and Enterprise editions so that if I update a development server using Express version (I don't have the authority to upgrade the Enterprise version nor the time to commission that) and it is successful, can I reasonably expect an upgrade to the Enterprise client versions on other servers to be safe/error free, baring environmental factors of course ?
Secondly, can I upgrade to version 10.2.0.5 now or do I have to go to the 11g version only ?
I'm trying to migrate our forms application from a Linux platform to Windows 7. We have a common pll which is attached to all forms and unfortunately relies heavily on globals.
Attempting to run the application with the standard library attached to the login form has the effect that the globals are lost between the login form and subsequent forms. If I incorporate the library code directly into the login form, it functions correctly. If I use the debugger to track where the clearing occurs, it functions correctly.
I have recently downloaded (the zip file for) OScanner (1.0.6) and have Java JRE installed on my machine. However, I am experiencing some difficulty in running the scanner. how I should start to use this tool, once I have downloaded the zip file.
We are using Oracle Applications hosed on UNIX servers. There is a custom form in XXX_TOP/forms/US folder that I need to modify.
My Windows desktop has Forms Builder 10g installed. I ft pied fmb file over from UNIX server to my Windows desktop and tried opening it. I get an error FRM-18108:
Failed to load the following objects: APPSTAND, etc etc.
Obviously I am not doing it right. What is the correct way of modifying a form file sitting on UNIX server, using Forms Builder installed on Windows desktop? Do I need to copy all dependent objects to Windows desktop along with fmb file?
When I use JDBC to retrieve the data and convert it to mill seconds, and it also shows as negative time. My question is the retrieved time doesn't show the negative date, but obvious it is a BC date and earlier than 0001-01-01.
1. How can we detect/show the date to show correctly for the BC date without checking c.time < to_date('0001-01-01','YYYY-MM-DD')? (I am wondering if there is format configuration to show the time like 17-JUN-08 04.06.22.893 PM BC, or something to show the time is negative )
I am using Oracle 11g version, I wanted to check if a particular function is available in the earlier version of Oracle (Say 9i). Oracle optimizer to run the query only using the features available in the 9i version?
when migrating from 32 bit Linux to 64 bit Windows version on database standard edition, is there a server media needed?if yes, can you give me more details on what it consists of?
I have new PC going to be used for Oracle 9, 10 & 11. It has Windows 2008, system processor - Intel® Xeon® CPU, Installed memory 2.00 GB and it is 64-bit operating system. My question is if it is possible to have 3 different versions of Oracle on the same box. I want to make sure that they are not going to create any problem! If it is ok to install all three on the same box then should i start installing from the lowest version (9)?

We are planning to upgrade a database from 9.2.0.8.0 to 10.2.0.4.0.We have a lot a PRO*C programs pre compiled using 9.2.0.8.0 (and most likely even 9.2.0.7.0) compiler.
if we could upgrade the database without having to re-compile all the programs. We have tested this approach against some of our programs. Most of them executed fine - but in 2 cases we are getting "ORA-01001 invalid cursor". I suspect, that the case is that Pre compiler version 9 is not supported against 10g databases - but I am not sure.
Would it be a better option to upgrade Pre compiler/client as the first step and the db as the second step (and would that be supported) ? We definitely don't want to upgrade both Pre compiler/Client and the Database in one goal - that would be too risky.
