I would like to know if it is possible to organizing both private and public saved reports into a sidebar (Tree view)....that would allow for the reports to be saved into Folders/Categories.
View 0 RepliesI am building an application to edit database data through interactive reports. I would like to add a button to open a pdf file of the report, where the user can save or print it. I tried going to Shared Components>Report Queries and then create. I went through the steps but when I get to the end where it says "Test Report" I get this error:
ORA-20001: The printing engine could not be reached because either the URL specified is incorrect or a proxy URL needs to be specified
What can i do to fix this, or is there an easier way to do this?
I am using APEX 4.0.2.00.09
This app will be distributed to other computers if that makes any difference.
As far as I know, in APEX 4.0 no other user other than the one who created a Public report can delete it. Can this behavior be changed somehow?

Those SQL reports are built with apex_items. Afterwards I'm updating them with a manual process (apex_application.g_fxx for ..loop). I'm using different IDs on both reports for the apex_items.
It's working fine for the first report displayed. But not for the second one. If I swap the two reports, it's always the first that will be updated.
Does it mean that we cannot use the apex_application to update more than one report and that I have to use a page per report?

I am using "Function Returning SQL Query" (as query is dynamic) to draw the bar chart (flash).
I am facing some issues while trying creating a BI report for this chart.
Issue is : In Shared Components -> Report Queries : Its only expecting an SQL Query.
Do we have any ways to define a "Function Returning SQL Query" over here ? Note that, If using a static SQL both charts / BI reports are working fine with out any issues.

I am using APEX 4.0 and have a task of implementing the old tabs (older versions of APEX) for the IRR when they are saved. My users are not a fan of the select list when the IRRs are saved. I have located a site [URL] .....
that has this implemented but the tabs are not displaying within my application on apex.oracle.com, only the saved report names with no spacing. getting the tabs to display and/or possibly adding a dash (-) between each saved report name?
I added a Report Region as a 'PL/SQL Dynamic Content' and added code below in the Source. Am I missing anything to get the tabs to display like the example?

I have 4 reports on the same page. I have added a checkbox column to each one. On clicking I want to populate a collection with the value of the id of the corresponding row and then have a button acting on the whole list.
My code to get the id of the item that contains the value I want is this

But there is an f02_0001 for each report, and the code just finds the first one, rather than the one in the context of the report being clicked.

They have different table ids but I don't know how to reference the correct ones in my code.
I have a number of reports subregions in a page . Each of reports sub-region has a HTML text and a cell (report with a single column ) having a count sql . Now , the problem is that the HTML text in some below sub-regions are not getting displayed .. Is there a limit on the no. of sub regions???? Can there be any alternative way to display all the HTML text and the corresponding count sql in a page .
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have been tasked to look at a technology / frameworks that will allow our company to develop tools that is quick and easy to learn and easily supported. We use Oracle architecture extensively in the organization and also have APEX 4.2 installed for development purposes. We have two basic requirements or functionality that we need to implement and I and now looking at a proof of concept to determine whether we should adopt APEX or not.
1. Forms Based Tools
We have many databases with static content and users would like to have access to the data via a form. The form will allow the user to enter parameters (eg date) and on hitting a "Submit" Button, the database will be queried and a report generated and presented.
2. Diagnostics Tools
This is a bit more involved and we require a view of our static data in real time. If a specific KPI threshold is violated (eg MOC < 85%) we would like to present an alarm on a dashboard showing the alarm. For example if there are 5 entities that MOC < 85% we would like to show a "red" indicator. If no entities violate a threshold and are above MOC > 85% we want to show a green indicator. We also want a drill down function, where if the indicator is "red", a drill down will show the details of all the entities that have violated the threshold.
I have described our basic requirements, but if it can easily be done in APEX we will definitely motivate for its use.
I'm creating Tool Tip definitions for the Operators in the Filter on the Interactive Reports. I was looking for a definition for the 'Contains' operator and from what I've found this operator is used to do a text search and it returns a relevance score for every row selected.
I've also read that in order for that score to be determined that the column(s) need to be indexed with a CONTEXT index. Non of the columns in the tables are indexed with a CONTEXT index, however, when I put a value in the Expression box for a column I get a record returned.
If I run the same query in PL/SQL Developer like:
SELECT <column>
FROM <table>
WHERE contains(<column>,<search text>,1) > 0;
I get an error that the column is not indexed, so how does it work in APEX?

I have configured my Apex4.1 env with BI Publisher 11. This report is working fine for hardecode ID ( like REQUEST_ID=10 ). to make report dynamic i have made following additions in the report
I have added where clause in report query as WHERE REQUEST_ID = :REQUEST_ID (:REQUEST_ID is the text field in my page).
Added a text field names :REQUEST_ID to get user input at run time.
Create a button and add Repot Query URL in its properties. When i run the report with some valid value in :REQUEST_ID text field i did not get expected result infect there is no record getting displayed in the PDF file. i think this is not the write way to do this but interestingly im not getting any error. how can i get this functionality in apex this way or the other ?
We have integrated Oracle Access Manager 11gR1 with Oracle Apex 4.1. The OAM-Apex integration is working fine. Now we want an additional header variable to be passed from OAM to the Apex application. This new header variable will be user's sAMAccountName in Active Directory. OAM is integrated with AD and the AD users are successfully able to access the Apex applications.
The three header variables which are configure in OAM right now are:
Header variable name Value
1. OAM_REMOTE_USER $user.userid
2. OAM_REMOTE_USER_EMAIL $user.attr.mail
3. OAM_REMOTE_USER_GROUPS $user.groups
We need an additional header variable as mentioned below:
Header variable name: OAM_SAMACCOUNTNAME
Value: $user.attr.samaccountname
The new header variable was added in the OHS server's dads.conf file like shown below:

But we are not able to read the value of this attribute in the Apex application.On the Apex application, we have a text box which shows the value of this header variable. This textbox is attached with the following stored procedure call to fetch the header variable:

The textbox shows the correct value if HTTP_OAM_REMOTE_USER is passed to the get_cgi_env method but does not shows anything when HTTP_OAM_SAMACCOUNTNAME is passed to the same method. if I am missing some configuration to pass the HTTP_OAM_SAMACCOUNTNAME haeder variable from OAM to Apex.
I have multiple application set-up using session sharing within the workspace.Technically all works fine, however it does not play nice with user behaviour.
Example:
Users logs into APP_ID:100. Since he isn't authenticated yet, he provides user/pass and the APP_SESSION is authenticated.
Now if the user switches using to another application (using a link provided in application 100) he gets redirect to APP_ID:101:APP_SESSION all is fine.
The session is already authenticated, the application shares the session and the user gains access to app 101 without having to authenticate again. All's fine!
However users don't behave they way. Instead of using an easy link in the application. They will use their own bookmark or type in the url for app 101 manually. That way the next application is either called with f?p=101:1:[SOME OLD SESSIONID FROM BOOMARK] or f?p=101 (with no further page or session info) In both cases instead of using the already authenticated session apex spawns a new session, which of course isn't authenticated yet thus forcing the user to authenticate and come complaining they have to login again.
Similar behaviour problems exists when the user opens a browser and tries to open both applications in each in a tab next to each other.Both tabs fetch there own initial session id and start writing it to the same cookie each in turn invalidating the other tab's session.These can lead to some fanatic ping pong actions. Thus it's impossible to open 2 applications sharing session in the same browser.
Is there any remedy for these situations?Can apex be as smart as for instance first trying to resume the session stored in the cookie and only if that session is invalid, start a new session?

When I was looking through various threads and guides, I've encountered checkbox corresponding array names like "g_f01" - "g_f50". And so far i saw that these names are derived from item name in generated HTML code, for example:
<input type="checkbox" name="*f10*" value="3" />
And this one stands for array name "g_*f10*".However, when I tried to do the same thing - i receive item name which looks like "*p_v04*", and therefore, I can't figure out, which array name should I choose to adress it properly.

ErrorERR-7621 Could not determine workspace for application (:) on application accept. I found some threads related to this but in different way not exactly when I am getting this error.
After 2 or 3 times, this error will not come and I can able to logging into workspace What is the cause for this issue??
Each time when I import an application into my workspace in local 10g XE using the APEX 4.2 Application Builder, I get the "ORA-02291, constraint wwv_flows_fk violated..". The application I whant to import was originally exported from [URL]. I found out, that it has to to with wwv_flow_application_install.get_workspace_id in the installation script, which obviously returns NULL and not my current workspace id as I suppose it should. I replaced wwv_flow_application_install.get_workspace_id by '<my worskspace id>' and then the import does work.

I had an error importing an application into Production that was exported from Development. The application exists and I was trying to replace it.
The error I received was:

Unless I'm not understanding this error it means that it can find the ACTION part that is attached to the WHAT part of this Dynamic Action? The Dynamic Action does work when the application is run (in Development)also, there are 3 others that are similar to this one. The export was created by the export utility in the Application Builder.
If I export only the page and import that into Production the import is successful and the page runs correctly. This is error is happening only when I try to import the entire Application.There are many other changes made which is why I was trying to do an Application export/import instead of individual pages.
I have to modify the Form layout of an existing application (Application Express 4.0.2.) where the data for each field is retrieved using SQL statements
Presently the form looks something like this and the Data for each field is rendered properly in this layout:

What I'm trying to do is to move "FIRST NAME" underneath "LAST NAME" and "UNIT #" next to "LAST NAME" This part is very simple. However, the issue I'm having is as soon as the "UNIT #" is moved next to "FIRST NAME", the data for "FIRST NAME" and "LAST NAME" simply disappear
