User got following error ? ORA-01555 'UNABLE TO EXTEND ROLLBACK SEGMENT RBS_O4'
After that I try like this :
prd176> ALTER ROLLBACK SEGMENT RBS_04 STORAGE (MAXEXTENTS 65530);
ALTER ROLLBACK SEGMENT RBS_04 STORAGE (MAXEXTENTS 65530)
ERROR at line 1:
ORA-02221: invalid MAXEXTENTS storage option value
What I have to do? means complete command ?
here I am pasting my db information;
prd176> SELECT SEGMENT_NAME,TABLESPACE_NAME,FILE_ID,MAX_EXTENTS,MIN_EXTENTS

I have a active rollback segments. I am not able to drop the undo tablespace of this segment and archive logs are getting created.
View 2 Replies View Relatedshare what can we do to over come this issue?We are running 11.2.0.2 on IBM Aix. I am trying to do an redef and this is what i see:
Received an ORA-1555 error on a table redefinition with LOB segments.
ERROR at line 1:
ORA-12008: error in materialized view refresh path
ORA-01555: snapshot too old: rollback segment number with name "" too small
[code]...
As the ORA-01555 error does have a name we know that this is LOB related.We are using Automatic Undo mode and have RETENTION specifed on the LOB segments in both the source and target tables for the redefinion.The LOB segments in the source table are stored out-of-line (DISABLE STORAGE IN ROW) while the LOB segements in the target table are stored in-line (ENABLE STORAGE in row).There are a very large number of updates occuring on the source table. The table is quite large and the redefintion failed after 36 hours.
In oracle documentation we're finding conflicting information as to whether the UNDO_RETENTION database parameter affects the LOB storage RETENTION parameter, and therefore whether increasing our UNDO_RETENTION will be useful in this issue. The SQL manual indicates that it does affect this saying 'Oracle Database uses the value of the UNDO_RETENTION initialization parameter to determine the amount of committed undo data to retain in the database.'
Our current undo_retention is set to 21600.
How can we resolve this ORA-1555 error?
I have created 3 tables and some indexes, but these objects do not show up in dba_segments view. Is this a normal behaviour? Previously, with dictionary managed tablespace, I can specify the minimum extent to create, when the table/index is created. But I'm not sure how the locally managed tablespace work.
I'm using Oracle 11g R2 (11.2.0.1.0) for Microsoft Windows (x64), running on Windows 7.For the purpose of reproducing this issue, I have created the tablespaces as follow:
CREATE TABLESPACE CUST_DATA
DATAFILE 'd:appasusoradataorcl11gr2CUST_DATA01.DBF' SIZE 512K
AUTOEXTEND ON NEXT 256K MAXSIZE 2000K
EXTENT MANAGEMENT LOCAL UNIFORM SIZE 256K
SEGMENT SPACE MANAGEMENT AUTO;

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have found one interview question no.7 @ [URL] According to that it can be rollbackQuote:The truncate command is a DDL operation and just moves the high water mark and produces few rollback data.
But, I read That is not true in the case of oracle but it is true in the case of SQL Server.
On a huge transaction the buffer cache gets fulled and on that case oracle automatically writes to the data files. And as such when we issue commit statement it does not take more time. It only writes the dirty buffers to the dirty buffers to the datafiles.
When we rollback does the data gets erased from the datafile. What is the mechanism of rolling back ? It should be clearing the dirty buffers for sure.

I have applied offline patch *10417948* on my database. How can see that patch applied on database/OH or not? I have applied one online patch few months ago....in that i have applied that patch on each database after installing it...using command :
opatch util enableonlinepatch -connectString SID:sys:manager: -id <opacth-id>
when i execute a command opatch lsinventory -details i got the following output :

For offline patch is it required to enable patch on every database?
I want to create offline database. there is one custom application i designed but for that need to use internet.
some time there is internet fluctuation. so i want offline db concept to implement . In a day once inter net connect data will get upload and centralize. is it possible by using OAF or ADF..?
While taking backup of schema using Expdp, I got the following error on one of the tables in the schema due to which export for this table could not be done.
Re: ORA-01555: snapshot too old: rollback segment number 2 with name "_SYSSMU2$" too small.
Undo retention time is 14400 sec and Undo Tablespace is Auto Extensible. Table to be exported contains 100 crore rows.
I need to do the following via the sql plus command prompt :
1. Execute a large ".pls" script file which does various inserts and updates to a table.
2. Spool the output of "select * from updatedtable;" to a text file to see the changes made.
3. Rollback all the updates and inserts in the script.
I started database in mount state;startup mount; alter tablespace users offline;

I have a partitioned table - 128 partitions.
If I am not using data of many partitions in any way, will it affect my performance if I am firing select query that uses other/active partitions data.
How can I check when that partitioned was last accessed, also can I brought those inactive partitions offlie? If we can, what will be the advantages or disadvantages of that?
I have implemented Rac One node with two machine(dbtest01,dbtest02) in 11.2.0.3 Redhat 5.3 one for online another one for offline. i have created TAF also.
dbtest01 is online and create one query
DECLARE
i number(36):=1;
begin
while(i<10000000)
loop
dbms_output.put_line(i);
i:=i+1;
end loop;
end;
i executed above query for test and i made relocate database using srvctl utility to dbtest02 machine.
session is relocated successfully with new session id...above query getting stop in 25000 itself. i want to make it continue that process..also i tried to find Omotion utility in all the path.. couldn't find it... where will it be.. i want to relocate all the session without losing work.
from application i am getting disconnect after relocation.. application server need to restart to get work again...

One of the users received the error
ora-01555: rollback segment too small
I have read about the error and saw that it is caused by transactions made upon same data, filling to maximum one of the UNDOTBS rollback segments.It happens only once in a while, each time on a different Rollback Segment.
I've read that i should do a few things to enlarge those segments, such as bring a 1. segment offline, 2. drop it and then 3. create it with a bigger size & possibly a bigger extent setting
i've also read that those actions aren't relevant if you have the parameter UNDO_MANAGEMENT set on AUTO, which is actually the case.is that why when i execute ALTER ROLLBACK SEGMENT RB_SEG_NAME_11$ OFFLINE;
1. How do i solve my issue with the Rollback segment being too small to contain the snapshot with the requested SCN?
2. what does the parameter UNDO_MANAGEMENT mean? should i change it, in order to adjust my Rollback Segments attributes, to prevent my error of re-occurring?
How to check/find the size of current ROLLBACK segment in oracle 10g ?
View 20 Replies View RelatedIn an attempt to take older data off line and allow database refreshes to be faster, tablespaces associated with partitioned table data for a given time period was taken off line, leaving only tablespaces that relate to the current time period online. In effect, tablespaces related to 2010 and earlier were taken offline from a table.
1. Without giving a filter on the partition key (the business date) to scan for data greater than the dates in the off lined tablespace partition, we get a ORA-376/ORA-1110 error (data file cannot be read at this time).
2. Materialized views using fast refresh or refresh on commit, will also not work because of the partitions being off line.
Queries directly querying the tables are manageable from an application point of view.But the materialized views failing to aggregate is a bigger problem.
how we can manage this situation? I know that I can move the partitions to a different table in a tablespace to be taken off line. But if possible, we wanted to solve this without doing a move partition.

I have a standard workflow process which was started but got completed without performing all the process.The process had to generate two(Comments & Approval) notifications but generated only one & as the user responded to the notification it got completed without invoking the approval process.Now I need the workflow to be rolled back to the initial step to restart the whole process again.

View 9 Replies View Related I have created an user named "Raja" with a default tablespace as "Raja_TBS" along with a datafile "rajadata.dbf". I have taken the tablespace offline
SQL> alter tablespace raja_tbs offline;
Tablespace Altered. when I take a tablespace offline, which means I cannot read or write and the tablespace is currently unavailable for users. I am still able to create a table on the "Raja_TBS" while it is offline.
when i make a datafile offline,can i add the following option: normal or immediate?
such as like here:
SQL> ALTER DATABASE DATAFILE 5 OFFLINE NORMAL;
OR
SQL> ALTER DATABASE DATAFILE 5 ONLINE IMMEDIATE;
when i try a test ,it occurs an error:ORA-00933.
