Workflow :: How To Revert Back Or Rollback A Process To Its Initial Step
Oct 15, 2012
I have a standard workflow process which was started but got completed without performing all the process.The process had to generate two(Comments & Approval) notifications but generated only one & as the user responded to the notification it got completed without invoking the approval process.Now I need the workflow to be rolled back to the initial step to restart the whole process again.

We are on 12.1.3 Apps.
We want to be able to send attachments at the invoice header level with the invoice approval workflow email as attachments. The standard workflow does not provide this functionality.
We were able to achieve this functionality using the approach given here:
[URL]........
Basically we added a document type attribute to the notification message, and set a BLOB variable to it inside our custom procedure, which is set as the function for the notification: DOCUMENT_APPROVAL_REQUEST.
Now we are able to see the attachments coming as attachments in approval request emails to the approvers. But the issue is that the first approver on the list, the requester is not seeing the attachments. All the other approvers can see the attachments. We have checked the WF Role for the user and the Notification preference is set as MAILHTML
As far as i can see, same notification and same message is used to send the email to all approvers including requester. Then why only requester is not getting the attachments?

I'm trying to get this down from two regexp to a single one, but I'm not sure it can be done and if so, its beyond me to work out how atm.
BANNER
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.1.0.7.0 - 64bit Production
PL/SQL Release 11.1.0.7.0 - Production
CORE 11.1.0.7.0 Production
TNS for Solaris: Version 11.1.0.7.0 - Production
NLSRTL Version 11.1.0.7.0 - Production
[code]...
The expression itself contains all the rules I'm aware of (nothing to say they won't move the goalposts again mind!) of and the desired output is as shown above. I should add that the actual data is more complex (many tags per record) so it rules out a regexp_replace

I am getting the below error while deploying a workflow in Control Center.
ORA-29532: Java call terminated by uncaught Java exception: java.sql.SQLException:
The file /u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0.2/dbhome_1/owb/bin/admin/rtrepos.properties cannot be accessed or has not been properly created on the server XXXXXX. If the file does not exist or if the database owner (normally user 'oracle') does not have the required file permissions or if the file has not been properly created then the file can be recreated by running the SQL*Plus script /u01/app/ oracle/ product/11.2.0.2/dbhome_1/owb/ rtp/sql/ reset_ repository. sql (in a RAC environment the file must be manually copied to each server which is used for OWB). i`m new to EBS. steps for following changes in the PO Approval workflow
1.Any new PO that gets processed / approved in the system needs to auto run the PO Print program (to generate the PDF copy of the PO) with the email function switched on.
2.PO Print program needs to be modified to auto email docuclass (test@tes.com) always ( even if email option is switched off) and email both buyer and PM ( if email option is on). Email subject should contain PO# and revision#.

After HRMS RUP6 patch, we overlooked a customization that set the Performer Type and Performer Role on an activity. Consequently, we have many workflows that are currently in progress and in an error status with:
HRSSA workflow errors with 3120: Activity 'HRSSA/343959' has no performer.
We see in the wf_process_activities table that the
PERFORM_ROLE and PERFORM_ROLE_TYPE for activity 343959 have the wrong values.
Their values are currently, PERFORM_ROLE_TYPE = 'CONSTANT' , PERFORM_ROLE is null.
They should be: PERFORM_ROLE_TYPE = 'ITEM_ATTR' and PERFORM_ROLE = 'FORWARD_TO_USER_NAME'.
This has been fixed for current workflows but the activities in error do not complete successfully on retry. Is there an API that allows us to set PERFORM_ ROLE and PERFORM_ROLE_TYPE on a specific activity?

I can't seem to understand why the hour is incorrect. Below query "dte_computation_on_data" is the old function they use to convert date and insert it to the table. Problem is when I revert it to the actual date the hour
is incorrect.

to_char(TO_DATE('19700101', 'YYYYMMDD')+(tb1.dte_computation_on_data/86400),'MM/DD/YYYY') || ' ' ||
to_char(to_date(mod (tb1.dte_computation_on_data,86400) ,'sssss'),'hh24:mi:ss ') revert_test,
systimestamp,tb1.dte_computation_on_data

floor((CAST(SYS_EXTRACT_UTC(systimestamp) AS DATE) - TO_DATE('19700101', 'YYYYMMDD')) * 86400) dte_computation_on_data

I have found one interview question no.7 @ [URL] According to that it can be rollbackQuote:The truncate command is a DDL operation and just moves the high water mark and produces few rollback data.
But, I read That is not true in the case of oracle but it is true in the case of SQL Server.

On a huge transaction the buffer cache gets fulled and on that case oracle automatically writes to the data files. And as such when we issue commit statement it does not take more time. It only writes the dirty buffers to the dirty buffers to the datafiles.
When we rollback does the data gets erased from the datafile. What is the mechanism of rolling back ? It should be clearing the dirty buffers for sure.

One of the users received the error
ora-01555: rollback segment too small
I have read about the error and saw that it is caused by transactions made upon same data, filling to maximum one of the UNDOTBS rollback segments.It happens only once in a while, each time on a different Rollback Segment.
I've read that i should do a few things to enlarge those segments, such as bring a 1. segment offline, 2. drop it and then 3. create it with a bigger size & possibly a bigger extent setting
i've also read that those actions aren't relevant if you have the parameter UNDO_MANAGEMENT set on AUTO, which is actually the case.is that why when i execute ALTER ROLLBACK SEGMENT RB_SEG_NAME_11$ OFFLINE;
1. How do i solve my issue with the Rollback segment being too small to contain the snapshot with the requested SCN?
2. what does the parameter UNDO_MANAGEMENT mean? should i change it, in order to adjust my Rollback Segments attributes, to prevent my error of re-occurring?

settings I can make for Initial and Next extents? I am working at a client site where they have an in-house E-Business Suite database that is running very fast. In most cases the initial extent on the big tables is set to something like 64Mb with the next extent set to figures varying between 25Mb and 50Mb. What this means is that we don't have many extents.
They have recently outsourced their database to Oracle on Demand and are getting poor performance. Over at OOD the initial extents remain as set in the local database - taken from a clone. However, all of the next extents are set small to nimbers like 128Kb. Some of the big Oracle EBS tables have more than 128Kb in a single record and we are seeing many 1000s of extents already.
Could the large number of extents and the small size of the next extent be the cause of a substantial decrese in performance? I'm looking for some justification to go back to OOD with a view to asking them to reinstate the settings as they were in the client database before it was migrated.

I've read the documentation that describes the storage management.I create a tablespace as:
CREATE TABLESPACE MY_TABLESPACE_NAME
DATAFILE 'path/filename1.dbf' SIZE 3000M AUTOEXTEND ON NEXT 200M MAXSIZE 4000M
LOGGING
ONLINE
PERMANENT
EXTENT MANAGEMENT LOCAL UNIFORM SIZE 1M
BLOCKSIZE 8k
SEGMENT SPACE MANAGEMENT AUTO
FLASHBACK ON;
As the extent management is local, does it mean that any storage clause of the objects (tables, indexes etc.) placed in it isn't taken into consideration? I mean in a case of placing a table in the mentioned tablespace that has a storege parameters defined as follows:
CREATE TABLE MY_TABLE(
...
)
TABLESPACE MY_TABLESPACE_NAME
PCTFREE 10
INITRANS 1
MAXTRANS 255
STORAGE (
INITIAL 100M
NEXT 20M
MINEXTENTS 1
MAXEXTENTS 50
BUFFER_POOL DEFAULT
)
1. what will be the initial extent size? 1M or 100M?
2. what will be the next extent size? 1M or 20M?
3. will the maxextents parameter be taken into consideration?
4. when i'm sure the tablespace is dedicated to keep only one object [MY_TABLE], what should be the relation between the initial datafile size [filename1.dbf] and the initial extent size? Should they be iqual or doesn't matter?
5. as the SEGMENT SPACE MANAGEMENT is AUTO, the PCTFREE param doesn't make sense, right?

I'm trying to work out how to synchronize a source and target database in an Oracle CDC implementation. We're in the architecture design stage of a near-real-time Operational Data Store style solution. Both the ODS and our pilot source system will be Oracle 10g. Our plan is to use Oracle Asynch Hotlog Change Data Capture to capture change data in near-real-time so that it can be applied to the ODS.
I understand the CDC apply process once the ODS and Source System are synchronized: DBMS_CDC_SUBSCRIBE.EXTEND_WINDOW to release the next window of change data, select from the publish views, then DBMS_CDC_SUBSCRIBE.PURGE_WINDOW to register the change data is no longer required.
But how do we do the initial synchronization if the source system is live and contains data and the ODS is new (and empty)? The easiest way would be to somehow flag EVERY row as change data. eg. Truncate every table and import. This would not be so good for existing CDC subscribers.
A more logical way would be to:
- Take a hot backup of the live prod database
- Activate CDC (DBMS_CDC_SUBSCRIBE.ACTIVATE_SUBSCRIPTION) on the source system to start tracking changes
- Manually build the ODS from the snapshot
- Start applying changes from CDC
if the source system is live, how can we GUARANTEE that the first 2 steps (snapshot and ACTIVATE_SUBSCRIPTION) are performed at EXACTLY the same time (ie. same SCN)?
