How can in increase the allocated space for a schema in Apex Admin section?
I know you can set this when creating a schema alongsite a workspace and looks like the only way to do it is via raising a service request for more space and loggin in as ADMIN and approving it (in increments of 500MB).

, I am following the installation instruction given in the doc docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/install.112/e24322.pdf, but when I finally run command runInstaller.sh doesn't happen anything.Actually, to install other software's I just double clicked the .sh file and it automatically started the installation process on a terminal window but when I clicked runInstaller.sh to install DB client, it didn't do anything.
Also, when I run the same command runInstaller.sh from command line after navigating to the directory where this file is present, It throws me error saying "no command found".By the way, why the steps given in doc are so complex, I wish If I could just double click runInstaller.sh just like others and it start the installation process.

create a new DB service and apply the load , then I need to verify the service load from Enterprise Manager or table V$SERVICEMETRIC .
Below are what I did
Quote:I tried to add service in tnsnames.ora like below
SERVICE = (DESCRIPTION=(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=tcp)(PORT=25057)(HOST=dadvmc))(CONNECT_DATA=(SID=tgc4)))
/************
Also I tried the serviceName like below, but not working when I conneted SALES1 from sqlplus
SALES1 = (DESCRIPTION=(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=tcp)(PORT=25057)(HOST=dadvmc))(CONNECT_DATA=(SERVICE_NAME=host.us.xxx.com)))
**********/
and login as
sqlplus scott/tiger@SERVICE
then lock table EMP in exclusive mode in two session.
I can see the load is added to service SYS$USERS , but I can't see the new service from V$SERVICEMETRIC or Enterprise Manager.
select
SERVICE_NAME
from V$SERVICEMETRIC
How could we create the new DB service?
We are getting problem while installing OID Infrastructure on one node.
metadata repository database: 10g R1 (10.1.0.2.0)
OID: 10g R1 (10.1.0.2.0)
We had installed in node 1 & now the partition is shifted to node2 ,But installation on OID infrasturcture, when we aretrying to connect repository database, it says, hostname:<PORT> service may not be avaialble, listener may not be up.unable to connect
orcl.test.com
whereas the service is running & listener is up. We copied inventory location and oraInst.loc and oratab file from node1 to node2, But still unable to connect metadata repository from infrastructure node. What are we missing here..
suggest on the dependenecy between the database service and the database instance?
srvctl start instance -i db1
will this start service as well for which the above instance is either preferred or available instance?
will it start the listener as well?
srvctl stop instance -i db1
will this stop service as well for which the above instance is either preferred or available instance?
will it stop the listener as well?

We are planning to install second instance of Oracle 11gR2 in Linux server 2.6.39-400.21.1.el6uek.x86_64 x86_64. This is something we never haven done before. The existing instance has all the standard ports:
Connecting to (ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=tcp)(HOST=)(PORT=1521))
Enterprise Manager Console HTTP Port (pterpdb02) = 1158
Enterprise Manager Agent Port (pterpdb02) = 3938
What ports should we select for second listener and enterprise manager? Is there anything else that we need to know before we install the second instance?

I'm using Oracle 11g running over a Windows 7 OS. The service OracleServiceORCL doesn't start. Listener.log has the following registry:
23-OCT-2012 19:45:29 * (CONNECT_DATA=(CID=(PROGRAM=)(HOST=__jdbc__)(USER=MBA-DB$))(SERVICE_NAME=orcl)) * (ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=tcp)(HOST=127.0.0.1)(PORT=49445)) * establish * orcl * 12514
TNS-12514: TNS:listener does not currently know of service requested in connect descriptor
When I try to start in services, is returned the OS error 1067. This error starts to occur when I did the follow. I executed a PLSQL command to fill a (big) table with a lot of data. More than 1 day after and while the program still running, I broke the program. After that, Oracle was consuming lot of disk. I broke the process (using taskkill /f) and, after that, the database stopped working.
What I can do to recover my database?Below I list my listener.ora and tnsnames.ora

Oracle 11.2.0.3 - newbie on web services! Currently we have a pl/sql web service taking in 2 static parameters and returning a varchar2 response.
I was asked today if it's possible for a web service to take in a dynamic set of parameters and return a corresponding set of results. It's as if I need to pass the web service a table with two columns and return a table of one column.
For example:
Input Output
1 2 3
3 4 7
5 6 11output being in XML of course. It is possible?
I posted this in OC4J also - no response hence the re-post !
I will be installing SOA Suite with OSB in Exalogic for testing. It is not for the production environment and very simple application will be used for testing. Database admin asked me what size database would be required but I did not find clear answer in the documentation anywhere.

I have been reading a lot of documentation regarding oracle services and I have an ok understanding of how they work. However, I have a general question regarding configuring services using Oracle RAC. For instance, if I have a 2 node oracle 11GR2 RAC on a Linux Redhat server. I have an application that connects to a service I have created. I create the service as follows.
srvctl add service -d ORCL_RAC -s APP_SERVICE -r ORCL_RAC1,ORCL_RAC2
The tnsnames contains:
APP_OLTP =
(DESCRIPTION =
(LOAD_BALANCE = ON)
(FAILOVER = ON)
...
My questions are as follows:
1) When I do a 'srvctl status service -d ORCL_RAC', should I see the service running on both nodes of the RAC? Or does it run only one node, then it will fail over to the other when needed?
2) If I have a RAC environment where I see two services created (RAC_SRV1 and RAC_SRV2). I see that RAC_SRV1 is only running on node1 and RAC_SRV2 is only running on node2. There are two applications sharing the same database, one application is using RAC_SRV1 and the other application is using RAC_SRV2. Am I correct in thinking that there is no failover available here? If node1 goes down, the application connecting to RAC_SRV1 will not be able to connect to node2 right?
3) In the case of the scenario in question 2 above, would it be best practise to simply create one service and have both applications connecting to the one service? Could I configure the one service to point connections from one application to node1 and connections from the other application to node2?
