Application Express :: Increasing Schema Size Without Raising Service Request?
Jul 13, 2012
How can in increase the allocated space for a schema in Apex Admin section?
I know you can set this when creating a schema alongsite a workspace and looks like the only way to do it is via raising a service request for more space and loggin in as ADMIN and approving it (in increments of 500MB).

User clicks on link-column field in tablular form, Confirm box pops up with a confirmation message, with "OK" generates a request and should pass a value from the form into an item for further processing.
The URL in the column link as of now looks like that: javascript: apex.confirm("message goes here...", {request:"EQDONE", set:{"P2100_X": "#EQMID#"}});For some reason just nothing happens. When I omit the "javascript:", I get an unvalid-url error message. But if I change the procedure name, shoudln't I get some error message also?

We are getting the following error when trying to access a RESTful web service coming from Apex workspace 4.2.1 and Apex listener 2.1:
ORA-29273: HTTP request failed ORA-06512: at "SYS.UTL_HTTP", line 1130 ORA-29024: Certificate validation failure
In the Debug report, besides the above I also see:
error_backtrace: ORA-06512: at "SYS.UTL_HTTP", line 1130 ORA-06512: at "APEX_040200.WWV_FLOW_WEB_SERVICES", line 543 ORA-06512: at "APEX_040200.WWV_FLOW_WEB_SERVICES", line 1164 ORA-06512: at "APEX_040200.WWV_FLOW_PROCESS", line 396
We get that error whether we use https or http in the URI pointing to the web service. When I test the Web Service in Workspace RESTful service GUI, I get the data back. When I go build an application with a report calling the RESTful Web Service I get that error. Both the Application and the Workspace RESTful services are on the same Apex environment and even the same workspace.
What is odd is that I can actually put the URL of the web service into a browser and I get the data: (using the demo hr data in sample RESTful services.)IN browser-- [URL]

what would be causing the Error above in our application?
In reviewing the above error, I think we are realizing that we have to have the Weblogic layer SSL cert (actually the CERT from our BigIP load balancer which also does our SSL termination) imported into the Oracle server wallet where Apex is installed. Am I correct?

I had created a Primary key and wanted to compress as per my senior instructions.Below are my results the size increased after compression.
select compression from dba_indexes where index_name = 'TEST_IDX';
Compression
----------
DISABLED
select sum(blocks) no_of_blocks, (sum(blocks)*8192)/(1024*1024)size_MB
[code]....
We ran a compression on the primary key index TEST_IDX
ALTER INDEX SCOTT.TEST_IDX REBUILD INITRANS 15 TABLESPACE DATA_01 COMPRESS;
ANALYZE INDEX SCOTT.TEST_IDX VALIDATE STRUCTURE;
Now when i ran the below select statement:
select compression from dba_indexes where index_name = 'TEST_IDX';
Compression
----------
ENABLED
select sum(blocks) no_of_blocks, (sum(blocks)*8192)/(1024*1024)size_MB
[code]....
As you can see after compression the blocks and size has been increased, but i ran for many tables and other indexes, we observed the blocks and size was reduced by 50-70%, i am not sure why this happened to the index compression.

1.2.0.2 on RHL.. 3 Log Groups with 1 member each. db_recovery_file_dest string /oracle/oraarch For the purpose of increasing log file size, if i use ALTER DATABASE ADD LOGFILE GROUP 1 SIZE 300M; but it creates Log Group with 2 member. one is at /oracle/oraarch location and other at /oracle/oradata (db_create_file_dest).
We are using ORACLE MANAGED FILE SYSEM . I want only 1 member at /oracle/oraarch (to keep the previous setting intact ...just increasing the size from 100 to 300M). If I manually give the path where to create the logfile member, I get this error:
ALTER DATABASE ADD LOGFILE GROUP 1 '/oracle/oraarch/DB/onlinelog/' SIZE 300M;
ALTER DATABASE ADD LOGFILE GROUP 1 '/oracle/oraarch/DB/onlinelog/' SIZE 300M

We have an application with many separate databases (one per customer). Given they share the same business requirements (service hours, change mgmt etc), we're interested in potentially consolidating the separate DBs (which are relatively small) into separate schemas within a fewer no of databases to reduce the overhead.
Our issue is that the application is hard-coded to use a specific administrator and application connection user name. Changing this is unfortunately not an option.
Given this limitation, is there any possibility to map a generic user into a customer-specific schema based on the database service that they connect to? Each customer connects to different database services but may use the same user name. We considered using private synonyms but this seems to acheive the opposite (i.e. many different users could connect and map to a single users schema). One thing to point out is that where there is a single user name, it is acceptable for a single password to be used across the different customer DBs as they will be a single admin/user.

I have an application that uses theme 2. On one page I have several regions that display updateable items populated with SQL. One particular region shows a tabular report that contains a combination of updateable and non-updateable items. This region will show no more than 15 rows. In one case I know that 22 rows should show. The pagination links do nothing. That is, nothing happens when I click the NEXT link or select the next X of Y from a list. I saw a theme for an application can restrict page size.

I had a situation last year where I could not login as myself or see any objects in my schema. Some code using APEX methods to create a new APEX user, and it finally worked.
The new user, ADMINUSERS suddenly had its password expire and I could not reset it, so I repeated last years’ effort but this time nothing worked.
Now I have a problem where I cannot even read a table if it is in another schema, even if I use the schema name as a qualifier. This happens even in SQL plus, except when I login as System I can read tables in other schemas if I prefix the table name with the schema and a dot. But this does not work with other users, even though I have granted the other users the role of dba.

we got more that 50 apex apps, Deploying it through apex console is becoming pain.we won't get sys or schema passwords. etc as databases are controlled by DBA's, We only get apex_public_user password, internal, workspace admin passwords.If there is any need of schema association for any applications/workspace, We login to internal workspace and map schema to workspace. I read couple of blogs which discussed about automating the deployments through sqlplusconnecting as sys or schema user, will not work for us. Want to know if there is anyway I can import deployments without logging into workspace. We already have workspaces and applications. The deployments will be for updating existing application or deploying new application in existing workspaces. Oracle Application Express 4.1.

Even though deptno 120 is not there in emp table, the exception is not raising?

Our product uses Oracle11gR1 and in new release we are going to use Oracle11gR2. For this we are performing following steps:
(1) Install Oracle11gR2 on a machine where our product (Oracle11gR1) is already installed.
(2)Upgrade Oracle11gR1 schema to Oracle11gR2.
(3)For using upgraded schema in our product installer we create clone of upgraded schema.
(4)For creating clone we are using Oracle11gR2 DBCA utility.
(5) Clone files are successfully created (DBC, CTL, DBF).
Now we performed same steps from another machine and DBF file size changed very much. On one machine it was 89 MB and on second machine it was 150 MB. There is no different in schema and both machines are Windows 7 machines.
Tor educe size of schema we tried different space reclamation commands but size is not changing.

I'm taking export dump using expdp of some schema's of total size is 300GB. This is the par file:
DIRECTORY=expdp
FILESIZE=32212254720
DUMPFILE=expdp_schema01.dmp,expdp_schema02.dmp,expdp_schema03.dmp,expdp_schema04.dmp,expdp_schema05.dmp,expdp_schema06.dmp,expdp_sche ma07.dmp,expdp_schema08.dmp,expdp_schema09.dmp,expdp_schema10.dmp,expdp_schema11.dmp,expdp_schema12.dmp,expdp_schema13.d
[code]....
here one biggest schema size is 250GB and the total size of all the schema's is 300GB. The file where am taking the dump has 350GB space but even then the expdp failed saying
ORA-39095: Dump file space has been exhausted: Unable to allocate 8192 bytes
why it failed and how to restart it and make sure it runs successfully without error.
