Windows :: Oracle Service Doesn't Start
Oct 3, 2012
I've installed oracle 11.2 in Windows 7 - 64 bits. Everything was working fine until suddenly stops working. Oracle Service (OracleServiceORCL) doesn't start and when I try to start manually, returns OS error 1067. Listener starts well. Below I list my listener.ora, sqlnames.ora and sqlnet.ora
# listener.ora Network Configuration File: C:appmbaproduct11.2.0dbhome_1
etworkadminlistener.ora

I tried to reinstall oracle 11g on windows 2008 R2 and couldn't complete the installation as i am unable to start the oracle service. The system gives the following error message
Instance created.
DIM-00019: create service error
O/S-Error: (OS 1053) The service did not respond to the start or control request
in a timely fashion.
I try to manually create the service and it gives me the same error.I also tried to start the service using the net start as follows
C:UsersAdministrator>net start oracleserviceprod
The service is not responding to the control function.
Having looked at the event viewer in windows, I noticed three different error messages as followsr
Application popup: Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library : Runtime Error!
Program: c:appadministratorproduct11.2.0dbhome_1inORACLE.EXE
R6034
An application has made an attempt to load the C runtime library incorrectly.and then A timeout was reached (30000 milliseconds) while waiting for the OracleServiceprod service to connect.
The OracleServiceprod service failed to start due to the following error:
The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion.

I am running Ubuntu 13.04. I am attempting to install Oracle XE 11g R2. It seems that everything was fine until I got to configuration of the database as root I ran /etc/init.d/oracle-xe configure command. I have received the following output

When I look at the logs I get the following error ORA-01034: ORACLE not available. After receiving this error I have attempted to start Oracle manually.

I have used a HUAWEI dongle directly connected to my PC. First, the operating system and Oracle start up, then I connect to the internet using the Huawei Mobile Partner utility. Any application can connect to Oracle and use it correctly. All OK. Now I have added a 3G router which is connected to the PC by ethernet cable and has the Huawei dongle connected to a USB port on the router. All works correctly if I follow the sequence:
1) Start the PC with the router switched off, and wait until Oracle has fully started.
2) Power the router up and wait 2 minutes until Windows says the 100 Mb ethernet link is open. Oracle.exe in Task Manager is about 210 Mb, and sometimes more, depending on activity.
However, if I switch on the router first and then start the PC, Oracle does not start correctly. It rejects connection requests forever more, indicating Network Adapter could not establish the connection: Code 17002.In Task Manager Oracle.exe occupies only 145Mb. What can I do to get it to start correctly ? I can dig into Listener.ORA, TNSNAMES.ORA and HOSTS without any problems, and have often modified them manually (not the case here), but logs and traces escape me !

I'm using Oracle 11g running over a Windows 7 OS. The service OracleServiceORCL doesn't start. Listener.log has the following registry:
23-OCT-2012 19:45:29 * (CONNECT_DATA=(CID=(PROGRAM=)(HOST=__jdbc__)(USER=MBA-DB$))(SERVICE_NAME=orcl)) * (ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=tcp)(HOST=127.0.0.1)(PORT=49445)) * establish * orcl * 12514
TNS-12514: TNS:listener does not currently know of service requested in connect descriptor
When I try to start in services, is returned the OS error 1067. This error starts to occur when I did the follow. I executed a PLSQL command to fill a (big) table with a lot of data. More than 1 day after and while the program still running, I broke the program. After that, Oracle was consuming lot of disk. I broke the process (using taskkill /f) and, after that, the database stopped working.
What I can do to recover my database?Below I list my listener.ora and tnsnames.ora

I just finished my first course in SQL for Oracle 11g at my local community college. We used SQL*Plus for the coursework and for the next class I need to use SQL Developer. Initially, I installed the Developer and was unable to establish a test connection due to the listener not being installed. I fiigured out that I needed to use the Network Configuration Assistant to add and configure the listener. After doing so, I was able to connect using Developer. The issue, however, is that any time I restart my computer, the TNS Listener service disappears from the list of services in Task Manager and I have to delete and then add and configure the service again using Network Configuration Assistant. Obviously, the Listener still exists because I can delete it and then recreate it.

unable to start the DBCONSOLE immediately after installing Oracle 11G R2 onto my Windows 7 box. Here is what I have ran from the command line:
Microsoft Windows [Version 6.1.7601]
Copyright (c) 2009 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved.
C:Userssandifer>emctl start dbconsole
Environment variable ORACLE_UNQNAME not defined. Please set ORACLE_UNQNAME to database unique name.
C:Userssandifer>SET ORACLE_HOSTNAME=localhost

I checked the above listed file path, and sure enough, OC4J_DBConsole_localhost_orcl is missing.

I have problem with EM console. When I restart machine OracleDBConsoleSID is stopped.
When I try to start this service:
Could not start the OracelDBConsoleSID service on Local Computer.
Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion.
And then this service has status: Staring. EM then work for short time but then again service is stopped.
The Database works without any problems.

I am not using RAC (to my knowledge), but I installed grid so I can use ASM with my RDBMS.
Recently I noticed that the "CRS Listener" service was not started, when I try to start it then it immediately stops. It does not seem to affect the databases, they are still up and running. What is this service used for and how can I get it to start. I am using Oracle Enterprise Server 11.2.0.3 and Grid 11.2.0.3 on a Windows 2008 R2 64-bit server.

One of our requirements is to secure the listener and other Oracle services by running them as a local OS account rather than as LocalSystem on the server.
I created a local OS account (assume it's named oracleuser), assigned it to the User and ORA_DBA groups on the server, and then I went to the Local Policies and added oracleuser to "Deny log on locally" and "Log on as a service".
I opened up the Services utility and stopped the four Oracle services we have running (OracleMTSRecoveryService, xxx_home1iSQL*Plus, xxx_home1TNSListener, and OracleServiceMYDB). I changed the "Log on as" for each service to oracleuser with its password (copied and pasted so I know there are no typo's), and restarted the services.
All the services except the listener started up. Attempting to start the listener caused the following error:
"The xxx_home1TNSListener service on Local Computer started and then stopped. Some services stop automatically if they have no work to do, for example, the Performance Logs and Alerts service."
I tried rebooting the server and had the same result. For now just the listener service has been switched back to logging in as LocalSystem while the other services continue to use the local OS account and the database seems stable, but I do need to figure this out.

I installed Oracle 11.2.0.1.0 Enterprise Edition on my home laptop computer running Windows 7 Professional months ago, set the services to start automatically and it had been working fine, with multiple shutdowns and re-starts per day, until today. I was using it earlier today, then shut the laptop down, went to lunch, turned it on again, tried to login through SQL*Plus and got:
SQL*Plus: Release 11.2.0.1.0 Production on Sat Feb 12 15:48:39 2011
Copyright (c) 1982, 2010, Oracle. All rights reserved.
Enter user-name: scott/tiger
ERROR:
ORA-12560: TNS:protocol adapter error
Enter user-name:
I tried restarting the computer, but still got the same result as above.I went to:
Control Panel -> System and Security -> Administrative Tools -> Services
and confirmed that the Oracle services were still set to start automatically. The OracleOraDb11g_home1TNSListener showed started. The OracleServiceORCL showed that it was set to start automatically, but did not show started or starting or stopped. The only option displayed for it was start, not pause or stop or restart, implying that it was not started. My computer had been on long enough that it should have started and it did not show that it was trying to start or give any indication that it had tried to start and failed and showed that it was set to start automatically.
I clicked on the start option, it started, and I was able to login. If I have to, I can live with this as a workaround, but I would prefer that it start automatically like it is supposed to. I find it puzzling since it had been working and I did not change anything, at least not intentionally. The only thing that I can think of that I did differently recently was experimenting with cursors and dbms_sql in order to intentionally reproduce the error "ORA-29471: DBMS_SQL access denied" to demonstrate it in response to a thread on the SQL and PL/SQL forum: [URL]. However, after reproducing the error, I corrected it and was still able to exit SQL*Plus and log in again until I shut down the computer and re-started. I don't know if this is related or coincidence.

This is how our customer want's to have - so separate wallet for each windows user, how to accomplish this without using %USERNAME%?

I was working on an applications program It is written in PL/SQL . It is running on an oracle 8i database It was not written by me but now I am responsible of it. I made some changes to database tables for this years regulations. Everything was working fine but yesterday I have recompiled two of the packages for some regulations and one of the procedures was stopped working.
It is called 'sayfa2'. Packages names are 'aday1' and 'aday2'. They both have a procedure called sayfa2 and both of them don't work now. They gave me no compilation errors. All I did is I have copied the original code from toad and compiled it at sqlplus I have changed nothing except some texts inside html tags. I couldn't guess what is wrong.
It actually converts to html pages. All procedures are working fine except sayfa2. aday1 is for to fill information and submit but when I click submit button it gives an error:
The requested URL /pls/kon/aday1.sayfa1 was not found on this server. Oracle HTTP Server Powered by Apache/1.3.19 Server at ...
There is also a problem with Turkish characters they don't appear correctly.
Below is sayfa2 and I also added aday1 package could you have a look at it .

I have a table "NEWS_COMMENT" like this:
Name Type
------- --------------
ID NUMBER(8)
USERID NUMBER(8)
SORT_TEXT VARCHAR2(100)
TEXT VARCHAR2(1000)
DATE DATE
VALID VARCHAR2(1)
CODNEW NUMBER(10)
The table has a normal index for the userid column.
There is a query that looks for the differents CODNEW for a USERID but allways the CODNEW has to be greater than 2248833
select codnew from news-comment where userid=2914655 and valid='N' and codnew>2248833
I have created a new index for this kind of querys
create index coment_new_IDX on news_comment
(CASE WHEN codnew >2248833 and valid='N' THEN userid ELSE NULL END )
but oracle doesn't use it. I have used a hint to force it but doesn't run.

regarding grants given on object doesn't reflect on Oracle forms 6i.When my developer compiled the form the error throws object was not declared which means oracle form not able to access the object which is synonym of other table. Also we recreated the synonym and given grants from table owner and compiled form still throws same error,But i can able to select object from backend command but not from oracle forms.
grants reflect in oracle forms after we restart the database.

We have a .NET application on windows server 2008 32bit using the stored procedures on an Oracle 10g environment. We are trying to deploy the .NET application onto a 64bit x86 Windows server 2008.
We face an error trying to install the x64 version of the Oracle 10g client on windows 2008. The error we get is Problem signature:
Problem Event Name: APPCRASH
Application Name: javaw.exe
Is the x64 version of the Oracle 10g client certified for Windows 2008? Has anyone successfully installed the 64bit version of the oracle client on win2008?
We have a workaround in place with 32 bit version of the client running with the 32 bit version of the .NET application on x64 win2008. However to maximize the infrastructure we need to use the 64 bit version or we would have to turn to MSSQL Server .

Oracle 11.2.0.3 - newbie on web services! Currently we have a pl/sql web service taking in 2 static parameters and returning a varchar2 response.
I was asked today if it's possible for a web service to take in a dynamic set of parameters and return a corresponding set of results. It's as if I need to pass the web service a table with two columns and return a table of one column.
For example:
Input Output
1 2 3
3 4 7
5 6 11output being in XML of course. It is possible?
I posted this in OC4J also - no response hence the re-post !
