RAC & Failsafe :: Stopping Oracle 11g R2 Cluster Services In Windows 2008
Jan 22, 2013I am doing the following steps for stopping the Oracle RAC Services on a 2 node.(OS is Windows 2008 Release 2).
srvctl stop database -d <database_name>
Node 1:
crsctl stop has
Node 2:
crsctl stop has
But i am getting error like Oracle HAS Service not stopped successfully. Finally what i did was stopped the OHAS Service from Windows Services.
which is the right procedure to have a clean stopping of RAC Services in 11g R2.
Windows :: ORA-12154 - Running 32 Bit Oracle Software On Server 2008 64 Bit
Oct 6, 2011There is an issue with the 32 bit Oracle client on 64 bit windows where it cannot connect to the database throwing the error ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve the connect identifier specified.
Since all the 32 applications will have the path C:Program Files (x86) on 64 bit windows, The PATH variable doesn't recognise (). This issue was there in the previous versions of Oracle Client. But the bug has been fixed in Oracle 10.2.0.3 32 bit client. Still the user is facing the same issue.

Windows OS: Windows server 2008 R2 64 bit
I have referred document [ID 334528.1] from the metalink(which states that the bug is fixed in 10.2.0.3 client).
RAC/ASM Clusterware Installation :: Microsoft Cluster Service And ApEX - Compatible?
Jul 25, 2012I have been asked to look at making an existing Oracle server resilant. The technology I need to use are:
- Windows 2008 R2 Enterprise SP2
- Microsoft Cluster Services
- Oracle Enterprise 11g release 2
- Oracle Fail-Safe (latest version available)
Unfortunately ApEX 4.1 and Mod_plsql are install on the existing stand-alone server. I'm afraid i know very little about Oracle and ApEX but i need to make a design decision and check fiesablilty.
I believe the HTTP service and Mod_plsql can be moved to a independant server which should work but ApEX itself must remian on the database server (i'm told).Will ApEX work in a MSCS setup? I can only find references to RAC support, RAC is out of scope.

Oct 1, 2012I'm using Microsoft Access 2007 as a front end to Oracle 10g tables using an ODBC Connection. I need to be able to add attachments to the records in one of my linked tables to hold emails, screen shots, log entries etc.
Access 2007 handles this capability with a field format called Attachment. I don't want to store the attachments locally but want them to be stored in Oracle, but I'm not sure what format the field in Oracle needs to be so that it will come across in Access as an Attachment field.

May 31, 2013I created an empty database using the DB Configuration Assistant, then imported a dump file provided by a client. I believe what happened is that all of the user passwords (for SYSTEM, SYSDBA, etc.) which I had created in the DB Config Assistant were overwritten during the import process as I can no longer log into the DB.
I have attempted logging into sqlplus using the /as sysdba swith while logged in to the server as a user in the ORA_DBA role, but I still get the ORA-01031: insufficient privileges message.
I am running Oracle 11g R2 on Windows 2008 R2.

..using the drivers we used to use in XP and Server2003 to access a legacy Oracle7 db. Connections to this db are needed for typical CRUD functionality by multiple applications, some written in Classic ASP and some in C# .NET 3.5 & 4.0. I have tried ODBC drivers (System.Data.Odbc) and also ODP (Oracle.DataAccess.Client) to no avail.
Any existing driver solution to make this connection without have to resort to a custom HLI interface?
I would think we aren't the only ones needing to access Oracle7 from Server2008.

Aug 30, 2012I tried to reinstall oracle 11g on windows 2008 R2 and couldn't complete the installation as i am unable to start the oracle service. The system gives the following error message
Instance created.
DIM-00019: create service error
O/S-Error: (OS 1053) The service did not respond to the start or control request
in a timely fashion.
I try to manually create the service and it gives me the same error.I also tried to start the service using the net start as follows
C:UsersAdministrator>net start oracleserviceprod
The service is not responding to the control function.
Having looked at the event viewer in windows, I noticed three different error messages as followsr

Aug 26, 2012I have a RAC working with SAN raw devices presented to ASM and working fine. My situation has changed since the installation of the RAC. Now I need a shared storage (with a filesystem) to upload some files (so DB can read these as external tables) for this I have used OCFS2.
As you can see I have Oracle RAC on raw ASM + shared storage on OCFS2 and for the time been all seems to be well and working perfectly. Can these coexist with out effecting the other?

I would like node1 to act as the primary server for the databases in application1 and node2 to act as the failover server for the databases in application1. Conversely, I want node2 to act as the primary server for databases in application2 and node1 to act as the failover server for databases in application2. Can Oracle SE and Oracle Clusterware be configured in this this way?

Sep 29, 2010Yesterday I was installing 11.2.0.2 patch to our Oracle 11gR2(11.2.0.1.0) Two node RAC cluster on OEL 5.4 x86 Linux.Before installing I have read [URL] support note which says "Note: All Oracle Grid Infrastructure patch set upgrades must be out-of-place upgrades, in which you install the patch set into a new Grid home. In-place patch set upgrades are not supported. "
During Installation I found following Installation Option :
1) Install and configure Oracle grid Infrastructure for a cluster
2) Configure Oracle Grid Infrastructure for a Standalone Server
3) Upgrade Oracle Grid Infrastructure or Oracle Automatic Storage Management
4) Install Oracle Grid Infrastructure Software Only
Which option should I have to choose here ?

Sep 24, 2013I have a 11.2 Grid Infrastructure with the July PSU applied. I ran the CVU and reveive the following error. I checked the file in error and I find nothing wrong. Why does CVU fail the pre-check?
