Login To Database - Connection Establish Quickly When Count Reduced

In the recent past we have been observing the DB connection from application to database using ODBC is taking long time. When I fire LSNRCTL SERVICE command, for our instance the ESTABLISHED = count is being shown a huge number like 45000 and even more some times.
When we restart the instance suing shutdown immediate or abort commands. The established connections count is becoming 0 and again getting increased slowly. Once the count is reduced the connections are getting established quickly without any issue.

I have an application in VB6 that connects to an Oracle Database 10g with Oracle native ole db but win7 can not make the connection with a standard user, only makes the connection to a user with administrator permissions. The error that shows the application's rubbish eg @, H, etc.. only rare characters.

how can I connect via ftp to the xmldb-filesystem ?
I tried the instructions from this website [URL] ..... Now I can connect to the filesystem via "win7 shell ftp", but i cannot connect via "win7 explorer" using "ftp://host:port/foo/bar" or filezilla. Everytime i try i got an errormsg like:
filezilla: cannot read filesystem
and
win7
an error appears :

I am trying to create a secure connection and getting the following error. I have tested the password via sqlplus and it works just fine.

I have installed oracle 10g XE on my machine. And my machine's ip address is 10.10.50.50.

I was able to connect to the above server from my machine.But when i was trying to connect the above server from my neighbours system i am getting an error Network adapter could not establish the connection.
Note:when i ping the ip address 10.10.50.50 from my negihbours system in the command prompt

i reduced the clustering factor a table having 50 rows from 38 to 6 and after sometime 1000 datas are inserted into this table if it affects the retrieval speed and also advice whether the datas will be stored in the above format as compact or datas are stored in the data block based on the index/ constraints.

I have used the following statement to gather the stats of a table..
EXEC dbms_stats.gather_table_stats('APP','SALE_AMT',ESTIMATE_PERCENT=>100,CASCADE=>True);
To gather the stats it is taking one hour and the table SALE_AMT is having 237213998 records.is there any way to get the stats quickly.

We are facing a different issue in our database. From yesterday night, the archive log generated with 5 digit. But it supposed to be 6 digit. Hence we are not able to apply the logs in DR Location.

Ive got loads of new entries that need to be entered into a table if they're not in there already.
Is there a quick way of doing this rather than having to add the entries manually using some kind of tool rather than using manual sql statements(would take a very long time since theres 800 new entries).?

version : 11.2.0.2 on RHEL 5.4
In our 2-node RAC , Node1 was hung for a while. So, I wanted to restart that Instance. But I had some 50 services running in Instance 1(Preferred Instance) which has to relocated before I bounce the instance.
Question 1.
Instead of using srvctl relocate for each service, Is there any way to quickly relocate all services to the Node2 (Available Instance) ?
Question2.
When a service is relocated , are DMLs running from sessions using that service be 'moved' to the available instance ? Or, is it just the SELECTs that can be failed over ?

I need to design my login form to be able to connect to different database environment (Env1 and Env2).When the login form is loaded it is already connected to Env1, after the user enters his login details he has option to continue with Env1 or connect to Env2.I used the "Logout;" to disconnect from already connected Env1 and used "Logon(<username>,<pwd>@<Db instance>);" but i see that the form will connect to Env1 irrespective of what environment credentials i provide in Logon. how i can disconnect from Env1 and connect to Env2. Is this possible?

I have a problem to login on my database 11.1.0.7 on linux 64. It were migrated from 9.2.0.4 and everything was fine but now I am not able to connect to database.
Only one way when I can connect is when the database is started in RESTRICTED mode and I cold login under sys (sysdba).
But when i leave this mode, nobody can connect . sqlplus is freeze and I have to kill that session. What could be a reason? Any parameters? It's strange for me because It was working..

I am trying to understand how to enable some audit so we can capture OEM logins as well.
Here is my setup. Lets say my DB that i am auditing is called audit_db (audit trail set to DB) sitting on host called host_db. and we have grid control agent on this box.now my grid control is as this. Lets say my OMS and repository is on host called OMS_host.
we run query aginst dba_audit_session to get info as to who tried failed login attemps and stuff.
Now to the part that is not working.
-- this is the good part When i intentionaly login to the audit_db with sqlplus client from my laptop with wrong username/password that is captured. we get the username,os_username,userhost,terminal.
here is the sample output
username is the wrong user that i tried to login as
os_username is the my local username(ad account)
userhost is my_laptop_name
terminal is laptop_name
from above we can figure who was trying to login(failed).
-- this is the bad part But lets say i try to login to audit_db through grid control and use wrong username/password.that gets captured too(but not all of it). we get the username,os_username,userhost,terminal.
here is the sample output
username is the wrong user that i tried to login as
os_username is the user of OMS repository db(oracle)
userhost is oms_host
terminal is unknown
Now with the above info, we cannot figure out who tried to login with bad login credential.

I am new in oracle I have installed Oracle in work group, while i work group it is working fine. But latter I have change the server from work group to domain. At that time Oracle was not working , not able to connect.
After that I change the Domain to work group again. And same problem exist. But I found that lsnrctl is working fine. But OracleServiceXXX is not able to startup in services.msc

I have installed Oracle in workgroup, while i workgroup it is working fine. But latter I have change the server from workgroup to domain. At that time Oracle was not working , not able to connect. After that I change the Domain to workgroup again. And same problem exist. But I found that lsnrctl is working fine. But OracleServiceXXX is not able to startup in services.msc

I have an issue with an Oracle 9 database where I can connect if I do not specify a database to connect to but when i do specify one i get an error. For example, my database is called WEB. If i open sqlplus and type connect username/password it will connect fine. If I type connect username/ password @web I get an error.The full error that appears in the log is:
TNS-12500: TNS:listener failed to start a dedicated server process
TNS-12546: TNS:permission denied
TNS-12560: TNS:protocol adapter error
TNS-00516: Permission denied
32-bit Windows Error: 5: Input/output error
I have checked the tns entries and listener file and both are fine. Here are the entries:

I have just installed Oracle Forms 11g with the Weblogic web server. I have a local installed database, and access to our network databases also.
I can do a TNSPING and get valid results back from that. I can connect with SQL Plus, and SQL Devloper. However, I cannot connect with the Forms 11g Forms Builder. where to copy the TNSNAMES.ORA file for use with Forms 11g?

I have installed oracle 10g server (10.2.0) standard. My OS is win xp sp-2.
when I run sqlplus or toad, Error Message comes ORA-01033: ORACLE initialization or shutdown in progress.
I have done below steps
in command prompt: C:sqlplus/nolog
sql:> connect system/admin (this is my database username/pass)
