I want to capture date and time in separate fields from user and save it in single column in table
example: user enters date and time
Date : 08/05/20212
Time : 18:50:00
At the time of save I want to save [08/05/2012 18:50:00].
I have a question with Oracle sql developer, i've installed oracle 11g express edition, and i want to insert values 'date' and 'time', but i only got the resultat like this:
Who can tell me how can i do to show just date info in 'date' and same for the 'time'?
I have a field say field A which has to be enabled/disabled based on the return value from an LOV.
ex: if lov returns A then field A should be enabled anything other than A, then field A should be disabled.
Do we have any function to get the return value from LOV?

As you can see, it's split the entries into date ranges. If there is a 'lone' date, the 'period start' and the 'period end' are the same date.
I have two different date in my payroll software,
1-Shift_date shift date *used to contain shift timings
2-Attendace_datedate *used to contain employee IN timings
As you all know that shift is a setup form, where user input data once in the starting of software so the shift_date can be "01/jan/2011 16:00 pm" but attendance loads daily and attendance field data can be in this form "24/mar/2011 16:15 pm"..Now I want to calculate difference time between these two fields therefore I used this statement
SQL> Select to_char(attendance_date,'HH24:MI') to_char(shift_date,'HH24:MI') from dual;
but it is showing error: ORA-01722: invalid number...I used hours/minutes format mask in my query because you can see there is a difference of dates between these fields and it will be increase in the coming future and I need late hours and minutes.
I would like to inquire how do I code my select statement if my user enter a search date range(search startDt: 01/08/2012 and search endDt :30/09/2012) and I will like to retrieve only the 7records out from my table as shown below ?

I need make a select where I get n rows, where n is the number of trimesters that compose the date interval in the table. Each of the returned rows must have as start_date/end_date the boundaries of that trimester.(ALL start dates are the first day of a month, and all end dates are the last day of a month)

If I specify the Date format for my database as 'DD-MM-YYYY HH@$:MI:SS' can i ensure i anyways for a particular columns in the database containing date values the format is 'DD-MM-YYYY' i.e without the time part.Can we specify seperate date formats for specific columsn in database during table creation?

any other entry having the same data, or have partial data should not be allowed.
like on 01-03-2011 between 9:29 to : 9:40 or even 8:30 to 9:01 on the same date or (replicated dates boundaries) should not be allowed.
I have a display item form field. The field's data type is date. It is also a database field that corresponds to a date field in the table.
I have set the format mask on the form field to
MM/DD/YYYY HH24:MI:SS
I can populate that field with sysdate in when-new-form-instance.
However, if I try to get the date and the time in the field, it just populates the date with the time of 00:00:00.
(02/16/2010 00:00:00 for example).
I have tried several to_char and to_date variations but can't seem to get the current time into that field.
I need get access a property (time of last modification) file winword.

In one item there was a initial value $$DBDATETIME$$ .. so that was the error.. i removed that value and i ran my form 11g (weblogic) again and the error has gone.

I have a form that the user has to enter a time of an event.
The time entered will most likely be in the past and NOT the current time.
What is the best way to set up a form and a database table for time entry only (exclude the date)?
I have tried datetime on the form with format HH12:MM PM and date on the database.
I have also tried the same with a timestamp on the database.
The time always appears to get entered correctly. However, the time is always stored as AM regardless of what is specified by the user.
I'm having trouble comparing and subtract two date type fields, can not get a significant result.

I want to join the columns DOB from table -1 and DOB_INFO from table 2 but the datatype of DOB is DATE and DOB_INFO is VARCHAR. TO_DATE function is not working here.
When I try to extract the date tag value from XML data, the time stored in 20120602153021 format i.e., YYYYMMDD24HHMISS format. The following statement extracts only date as 02-JUN-12 however do not extract the time part.
If I try the same in SQLplus with to_date it works however fails in PL/SQL.

I need to convert the type of GMT to Local time, during data entry. I have a source table and a target table.
To make the insert get the most value, I have no problems:
insert into destination (SELECT * FROM WHERE source pointnumber = (SELECT MAX (pointnumber) FROM source));
But since times are different between the tables, I want to convert the data obtained to GMT -4:30 Time (Caracas - Venezuela), before inserting it.

I am having problems with the XMLTable function. I cant get it to see the entire date/time value in a date field. This wont work

But User wants to hide the IE in backegroud and they want only applet window, so using VBScript we are hiding the IE and now only applet window apears this also fine.
I am running the report and displaying the report using web.show_document, report is running fine and displaying in IE with PDF format. But the problem is if i press the run report button report is opening and displaying behind the applet window not infront of applet window and there is no focus on the report IE also. How to display the report output(IE with PDF format) infront of the applet window and current focus on the report window(IE with PDF).
Note: If i use separateFrame=false then report is displaying infront of the IE screen and focus is on the report IE.
