Aug 5, 2010 I have created a datablock and set up the user interface to allow the users to insert all the data they need, however my table has some fields which should be generated automatically and are not done through user input:
id - which is uniqe to each entry to the table so is gernerate by a sequence (which I created on the database) but when i put seq.nextval into the initial value on the datablock it says i cannot do this, so how do I use the sequence to insert the value into that field in the database. This is my primary key in my database whichobviosuly my users cant input data to, instead it is generated automatically.
User - similarly in the datablock is a user field which states the user that inserted that record, I know on the database i can put DEFAULT user for that field , but how do I make the user insert automatically through forms.
Date - Similarly again how do I set SYSDATE to be automatically input to the date field when the user submits the record?

Oct 8, 2010 am facing a Problem in creating display items .First I create a display item and name it ITEM6This Display item will show Department name of employees .I create a Block Level Trigger to invoke this display item .

Then I save ,compile and Run it successfully .But when i press Execute Query button . It shows me Following error message .

For each ITEM_CODE there should be four items i.e Pen,Pencil,Scale and Marker If any itemcode missed any of the itemnames those records should display in the output.
So the output should be like this
101 Marker Because the item Marker is missed.
102 Pencil Because the items Pencil and Marker are missed.
102 Marker Because the items Pencil and Marker are missed.
For itemcode 103 no records should be displayed because it having all four itemnames.

Taking Today date and timezone as EST, I need to run a select that shows all the rows , where sysdate falls in between
Start_date and End_date and RunTime, ( run time is basically the Local time of the TimeZone Column)
Basically we should Display rows by checking/Converting, Start_date||End_date||Runtime||timezone with Sysdate(est) then display.
From the Above Data these rows should be Displayed by that select, how to compare this data with sysdate and display.

Oct 18, 2011i have a form based on tab canvas. for some values(on form) i am hiding some fileds or a complete frame on the form using stack canvas. it works fine but if a user enters a wrong value in some field i.e enters character in number field the stack canvas hides(showing the hidden fields).
I tried to use on error trigger at form level and when validate item trigger to show the canvas but it first hides the canvas once right value is entered it just shows canvas again. following is the code i wrote

Sep 8, 2011i have a form having 4 database data blocks and one non database data block(for Push Buttons like SAVE,CLEAR,EXIT..).
In the control Block i have 5 push buttons out of which one is used to Save the entries and one to clear the form. In the coding of SAVE button after writing "COMMIT_FORM;" i want to disable all other Data block on my form excluding the one containing Push buttons so that the data entered by end user stay appearing on the form till he Clears the form.
Now the problem is that when i set enabled property of one particular text_item to false , the form if closing down along with the application, it is totally disappearing from screen.This is happening for one particular text item.
what could be the possible reason for this and what needs to be done to overcome this problem.

To refresh the form I have user SYNCHRONIZE to display the status of ever process after completion of every process.
It is working perfectly if am not minimizing the forms screen or opeing another window. After doing anyone of the above and when I reopen the form again, the SYNCHRONIZE is not working and am not able to see the form refreshing after every process as I have planned.
