Data Guard :: Archivelogs With FAL Request Created At Different Location?
Mar 29, 2011
I tried a Data Guard setup on Oracle Databases (version 10.2.0.4.0, on RHEL)
Primary Database is db5
Standby Database is db6
By the time I created standby database, 3 archivelogs (sequence 11,12,13) were generated on primary which I copied over to standby database server
Now while querying v$archive_gap on the primary database these archivelogs aren't listed
However at the same time querying v$archived_log on either Primary or Standby Database also does not list them
1)
In such case do I need to register these archivelogs on standby database?
Or else do I catalog these archivelogs on standby database?
Also as soon as standby database is started in recovery mode as a part of setup, 1 archivelog (sequence 14) was shown on standby
Now this archivelog has different path than the archivelogs generated later (sequence 15, 16)and v$archived_log shows it is generated as a part of FAL request (FAL=YES)
Question are
1) why it was FALed while redo apply services were active?
2) why this particular archivelog only which is part of FAL request is generated at different location
Does it generate at standby_archive_dest rather than FRA when FAL=YES?
3) why subsequent archivelogs are not part of FAL request or FAL request wasn't needed for subsequent archivelogs?

I have a Production database that is in archivelog mode and a Standby DR server. Both servers (Prod, Standby) have exact same structure and db name/version.
We manually scp archive logs and recover them to a manual standby database via SQL Scripts "cron". (I.E. set autorecovery on; recover standby database;)
We recently got out of sync with our log files and have not been applying them to the standby. As part of Prod Maintenance, these log files were deleted and are not available anymore.
I've tried several ways to "rebuild" our standby database. I have tried to Shutdown prod, backup all the db files and scp them to standby, re-create standby controlfile and startup mount and recover standby. Every time I try to apply a new archive log via recover standby, these are the errors:
ORA-00279: change 211077622 generated at 1/27/2012 12:18:42 needed for thread 1 ORA-00289: suggestion : /oradump/arch/PROD/PROD_arch_1_69486_736618850.arc ORA-00280: change 211077622 for thread 1 is in sequence #69486 ORA-00308: cannot open archived log '/oradump/arch/PROD/PROD_arch_1_69486_736618850.arc' ORA-27037: unable to obtain file status SVR4 Error: 2: No such file or directory
Additional information: 3
ORA-10879: error signaled in parallel recovery slave ORA-01547: warning: RECOVER succeeded but OPEN RESETLOGS would get error below ORA-01152: file 1 was not restored from a sufficiently old backup ORA-01110: data file 1: '/oradevices/PROD/oraPRODsystem1.dbf'
When I check v$log_history, the new logs have not been applied. I've also tried the "Restore from incremental backup via SCN" method with same results. Is there a way to re-create the standby clean and ensure that the log chain that is currently broken gets fixed or reset? I would eventually like to get DataGuard in here, but that's not the case at the moment.
I have a 10gR2 standby database.Normally when logs are created in primary they automatically get shipped to standby but sometimes I get FAL request rejected or connection lost contact error and the logs are not automatically shipped .
Then when I manually switch a logfile the RFS process copies the old logs into DR site(around 4 or 5 logs).What is the problem...How to resolve this???
I have recently configure Data guard with Database 10g (10.2.0.4-64 bits) on Windows 2007 server.My Data Gurad Configuration show Success status with 2 databases on same (or local) location.My questions are
1-When I query SHOW PARAMETER LOG ARCH
DG_CONFIG(PRMDB)
ONLY 1 (PRIMARY DATABASE IS DISPLAYED ONLY NOT 2 DTATABASES e.g. DG_CONFIG(PRMDB, STLDB)
2- How to check the log applied interval or time (either transaction by transaction, timing etc)
We have physical data guard configured version (10.2.0.4). We are in need to upgrade primary & standby database to 11G R2. Can we perform rolling upgrade.
We have taken export expdp backup from prod database (primary database- Data Guard).
1.) Import impdp is very slow 10GB/Hrs on staging database (Data Guard MAXIMUM AVAILBILITY)Since Server configuration, database version and configuration, operating system everything are same as production. No blocking, locking or waiting sessions
2.)import impdp is fast 90GB/Hrs on Test standalone database and this test database is running in NOARCHIVE LOG mode with oracle standard version after that no more difference.
CPU,Memory,network and disk I/O are look normal while importing on both databases.why that much difference on import.
I need any good suggestion basically I have two different location
1- Factory 2- Head office
I have developed PRODUCTION module in factory and it is working fine and now I want to send data on daily basis to head office therefore I develop a form which will create backup in export format (.dmp) then user will send via email to head office.
Backup file should be save in pre-defined location then user will use a form which I developed for loading data into head office there are two different buttons in this form;
First is used to load data, actually first I load data in a temporary user which creates whenever user will press this button. Second is used to copy data in application user but first it checks if data exists then update otherwise insert.
I am trying to backup my entire database's files :
[oracle@testing-oracle-1 ~]$ rman target / Recovery Manager: Release 11.2.0.1.0 - Production on Mon Jun 24 16:09:54 2013 Copyright (c) 1982, 2009, Oracle and/or its affiliates. All rights reserved. connected to target database: ORCL (DBID=1341263457) RMAN> list backup;
using target database control file instead of recovery catalog specification does not match any backup in the repository
RMAN> CONFIGURE CONTROLFILE AUTOBACKUP ON; new RMAN configuration parameters: CONFIGURE CONTROLFILE AUTOBACKUP ON; new RMAN configuration parameters are successfully stored RMAN> CONFIGURE CONTROLFILE AUTOBACKUP FORMAT FOR DEVICE TYPE DISK TO '/u01/app/oracle/backupsets/control_files/cf_%F.BCKP';2>
[code]....
I see that a backup set was created to "/u01/app/oracle/flash_recovery_area/ORCL/backupset/2013_06_24/" , in spite of my specification.
So I asked RMAN to list all the backups I have:
RMAN> list backup;
List of Backup Sets =================== BS Key Size Device Type Elapsed Time Completion Time ------- ---------- ----------- ------------ --------------- 1 41.14M DISK 00:00:00 24-JUN-13 BP Key: 1 Status: AVAILABLE Compressed: NO Tag: TAG20130624T161025 Piece Name: /u01/app/oracle/backupsets/818957425_1_%r.BCKP
[code]....
Here I see that 4 backup sets have been created.The backup sets 1 & 3 containing the archived redo logs (818957425_1_%r.BCKP and 818957451_3_%r.BCKP) are placed as I wanted in /u01/app/oracle/backupsets/ dir.
The file containing the Control File and Spfile (cf_c-1341263457-20130624-00.BCKP) is placed as I wanted in /u01/app/oracle/backupsets/control_files/ dir.However, The backup set file containing the data files(o1_mf_nnnd0_TAG20130624T161026_8wjkb2tg_.bkp) is placed under the directory /u01/app/oracle/flash_recovery_area/ORCL/backupset/2013_06_24/ ,and I don't understand why.
When I backup my database without the archived redo logs - it is saved correctly:
RMAN> RMAN> delete backup; using channel ORA_DISK_1 List of Backup Pieces BP Key BS Key Pc# Cp# Status Device Type Piece Name
[code]....
1. Why aren't my data files backed up to the location I specified when I backup using PLUS ARCHIVELOG syntax?
2. Why are my redo logs saved to two different backup sets and not just one?
3. Is there a way to combine backup of all files (data files, control file, spfile, redo logs & arch redo's) in one backup set, one file?
I was wondering if there is any way to know in which Tablespace and Datafile my Table is located. I have exported a table and about to delete it as i am partitioning it.
I have data that the user is modifying on the form and a data block that is supposed to reflect those change (summaries) So I created
TYPE VehicleInfo IS RECORD (Vehicle_Desc ctl_fleet_vehicles.Vehicle_Desc%Type, Miles timecapture.miles%Type, Hours TimeCapture.Equipment_hours%Type);
TYPE VehicleTab IS TABLE OF VehicleInfo INDEX BY BINARY_INTEGER;
VehicleObj VehicleTab;
I fill this up with the correct data, but I would like to be able to use this as a table in the data block (called Vehicle_Summary) In the past I have piped tables into data blocks from the server, but I'm unsure how to use a table I created in forms in the Query Data Source Name of the data block.
I am trying to import data from a dmp file created using expdp. Running on oracle 11g Express and getting following error, and tried to fix but could not succeeded, I have tables exist in POI schema and trying to import them in ghi schema. Created dmp file from poi shcema with two tables= '''REL20_AU_POI'',''ARCHIVE_POI''' and these tables do not exist in ghi schema
I would like to rman command syntax only for the following scenarios.I have archivelogs the disk , sequence = 40, 41, 42 , 43and say, I backed up only sequence 41 file. next time I want to list (not backup) which archivelogfiles have not been backed up since the last backup (which was sequence 41 was backedup).I would like to be able to list 40, 42. 43 that needed to be backed up as a list in the RMAN. I understand that I can look at find from v$archived_log view and I can backup using (backup archivelog all not backed up 1 times to device type disk - i am ok with this).I need to be able to list the archivelogs that need backup from existing disk-directory of archivelog files from RMAN prompt.
by default backup area is FRA, It can be change by db_recovery_file_dest FRA contains archivelog ,backupset,datafile,onlinelog folders..
NOW, i specially want to change backup dest. of archvelog to C: (suppose i have C , D, E, F , G) - (i know for archivelogs its log_archive_dest_N command can backup copies to other location but it also goes to default FRA )
backupset to D: datafile to E: onlinelog to F: controlfile to G: ALL SHOULD CONTAIN ONLY 1 DESTINATION NOT 2 FOR BACKUPS
Question: does oracle recover past the scn mentioned in the control file or do you need recover using backup control file for it? No specific scn,time specified.
Scenario: Restore database on new server + copy archivelogs from original to minimize data loss. Backup : 5 AM Archivelogs: 7 AM
New server: Configure dummy instance Restore spfile from tape Restore controlfile from tape: SCN 5AM Restore database (no scn specified) from tape: : SCN 5AM Copy archivelogs from old server to archivelog new location: SCN 7AM. Recover database open database -> SCN 5AM or 7AM?
Does it recover till SCN 5AM (controlfile) or SCN 7AM (latest scn in copied archivelog)
We have lost some datafiles and some archivelogs. We have backup of whole database taken on Dec 20 and archivelogs until Dec 23.So we dont have 1 day worth of archivelogs which can lead to incomplete recovery.
Now question is do we need to restore all datafiles or only lost datafiles for incomplete recovery since we dont have all archivelogs ? lost datafiles belong to different tablespaces.
Datafiles which are still intact are with current SCN and we restore lost datafiles only and recover unitl our last available archivelog it will have different SCN. Will we be able to open database or we need to resotre whole database for this scenario?
We have faced database(10.2.0) issue cause incomplete recovery and have performed open resetlogs. This DB is of 12Tb. In 10g opening database with reset logs do not invalidate previous backups. we have another replica(no reset state)of this database which we sync using archives.how we can apply those archives(reset database)to previous database?
I have one prod server (11.1.0.6.0) servers on Windows 2003 R2 64 bit.
Server Name (PRODDB)
I do not have access to that prod server , i want to take one export data pump from my client machine and due to space issue in prod server , i want to keep dump file in my client machine itself. i can take traditional export and keep the dump file in my client machine but i do not know how to achieve the same via data pump ...
How to generate dump file in client machine itself via data pump ?
i have configured physical standby in my local system, to check logshipping i created a table at primary db, wen i tried to check in standby, it says table does not exist..below are primary & standby alert entries..

Statspack has been configured for Active Dataguard on Primary database.We got an spike of Buffer busy waits for about 5 min in Active Dataguard, this was causing worse Application SQL's response time during this 5 min window.Below is what i got from statspack report for one hour

Why there could sudden spike of demand on UNDO data in Active Data Guard ?
I have an oracle autoback of controlfile and spfile. I am trying to restore the production database using this backup, into a new server with a different directory structure.
I have completed the following steps in the restore process.
1. Creating a pfile from spfile
2. Changing the the location of cdump, udump, bdump and the control files ( there are three )
3. Then creating a spfile from this pfile
I am stuck on the next step where to rename all the datafiles and tempfile and restore the database. Following is what I did.
After mounting the database in RMAN, tried to run the following.
RMAN> run 2> { 3> allocate channel c1 device type disk 4> ; 5> @/home/oracle/rman_scripts/newloc.rman 6> SET NEWNAME FOR DATAFILE 1 TO '/u02/oradata/dorian/system01.dbf'; 7> SET NEWNAME FOR DATAFILE 2 TO '/u02/oradata/dorian/undotbs01.dbf'; 8> SET NEWNAME FOR DATAFILE 3 TO '/u02/oradata/dorian/sysaux01.dbf'; 9> SET NEWNAME FOR DATAFILE 4 TO '/u02/oradata/dorian/users01.dbf';
[code]....
I am getting the following error message.

I am working in a bank as an system consultant, i have a SAN Storage Area and oracle as below.
SAN 1
This interface includes the DATA FILES of the oracle tablespace
SAN 2
SAN1 Mirrors the DATA FILES of the oracle tablespace to SAN 2
1. Can i rely on real time data recovery from SAN2 ? 2. if SAN1 (Data Files are currupted) will the SAN2 Data Files will be currupted as well. 3. If the SAN2 is currupted then what Oracle Features can be used to have uncurrupted data.
i did everything writen but when i do *SQL>alter database recover managed standby database disconnect from session;*
i go and look in the standby database AlertLog file ,and thats whats writen

strange thing that it realises the primary database in drive F and it goes to it but i dont understand what could be the reason of this ,although im doing this command while primary database is shutdown!
I configure logical standby online .when I execute dbms_logstdby.buid,first

I have set up a cross platform (Microsoft Windows IA (32-bit) -> Linux x86 64-bit) data guard and it worked fine.Then I did a switch over (which again worked) and found out the data is not getting replicated at all.. checked the data files available from the new primary database and found out they are in the windows format as below..
