Communication Failure In Oracle AQ With Firewall ON
Jul 21, 2010
I have two machines with oracle 11g . Both having ODP 11.2 Beta. I've to communicate between these two machines using Oracle Advanced queuing. The message sent from one machine will reach the second machine only if the Firewall of both machine is OFF.But based on requirement, we cannot switch OFF firewall or add exceptions as ports or applications.
How to enable firewall for Oracle Database..? Is it db specific..? or If I implement the firewall It will be applicable to all the databases in the server which are using same oracle home..?
we have a database available in UNIX machine A which can be connected from client in UNIX machine B through port 1521. If we give ping command from UNIX machine A to B or B to A, 0% packet loss, means connection established properly through firewall in port 1521.
Now we are setup one more UNIX machine C and installed a client here. This machine is available in different group, means if i give ping command from machine C to A, 100% packet loss. But from machine A to C, connection established with 0% packet loss.Because of this, when we tried to connect to a database from client in Machine C to database in Machine A, we got "time out" error.
My query is: 1. Is this because of not opening of port 1521 through firewall? 2. If so, is it enough to open port 1521 through firewall when we connect from machine C to A? 3. Any additional setup is required in firewall apart from opening of ports?
We have a server that crashed due to hardware failure and although brought back up OK Oracle DB's are no longer mounting. I am not a DBA but it looks bad to me and it seems there are no backups. This is Oracle 11G XE running on Centos 6. There is no Oracle contract here.

I'm not an Oracle expert, but I have research a little and seems that the SID could be wrong or that the DB is down, in fact I have already checked trhe server but everything seems normal to me.
I m using Windows Vista Business 32 bit , Oracle 10.2.0.3
while running my setup so many time i got same error each and every time Error:12560 TNS Protocol Adapter error and it shows me i attached my screen shot with my thread , and remember i already installed earlier but at that time there was no error and successfully installed, i removed the total software before installing and i also removed my environment variable and after getting this Database Configuration Assistant failure there is no service is started regarding my database.. I also tried manually but there also i got some other problem if by Database Configuration Assistant it ll b solved then it ll be good for me.
The problem concerns distributed transactions. There are 2 databases that communicate with each other through a database link.We call Xa transactions from our weblogic application. Both databases work in a shared server mode.
Everything works until we run some performance tests on the evironment where the data volume is much bigger then the one on the other environments where the same tests succeeded. We're getting the following error: ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel
The error get registered in a local database alert.log when accessing data through the database link while there's no trace corresonding to this error as far as the second database is concerned. We're almost sure there's no network problem. The error occurs in only 1% of a total executions number. We also observe the inactive sessions number increasing on the remote database.
Both databases use ASMM by having set the SGA_TARGET and PGA_AGGREGATE_TARGET parameters and proper level of the STATISTICS_LEVEL parameter, so some hot elements like SORT type operations should execute fine.Any Oracle parameter should be tunned or we should take into consideration something else...
One of the customer is using Oracle database Oracle database 9i and its listener is running on port 1521. When Oracle database client are connected to database , it is connecting on multiple ports ( like 1600 to 1690 ) . if it is possible to restrict Oracle database client connection to only one specified port or not .
Is it possible to communicate with a serial device (via COM1) with oracle forms / webutil? I am able to communicate in java using RXTXcomm, but I am having problems making a bean that uses it (getting security errors and yes, I have signed the jars).
Basically, I have a scale hooked up to my COM1 port and want to be able to send commands (zero and tare) to it and read the weight from it through a form or java bean.
I made the number of processes to 1 by issuing the below command.
SQL> alter system set processes = 1; SQL>shutdown immediateI am getting the below error when I issued startup command.

We have the Oracle Enterprise Manager Grid Control 10.2.0.5. We recently upgraded our Databases from 10.2.0.3 to 10.2.0.4 and since then we are having this problem.
Whenever i click an Agent on the Grid Control it gives me this error: "Communication between the Oracle Management Service host to the Agent host is unavailable. Any functions or displayed information requiring this communication link will be unavailable. For example: deleting/configuring/adding targets, uploading metric data, or displaying Agent home page information such as Agent to Management Service Response Time (ms)."
I get the same error when i try to configure a host or a database.
I start sql*plus and start working. after 2-3 minutes i get error -
ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel.
I googled and found to see alert.log.(but i found no such file on my system) but in my system i found some info at C:\app

We are running Oracle 11.1.0.6 on CentOS Linux at our local network. Two dozen users work from client's network to access this database. There are firewall and switches between the local network and client network. Everything run smoothly for last two years until about 10 days ago, something changed. The client on the client's network can still connect to this database, but they can not run large queries. Their client connection hangs and time out. I can see TNS-12535: TNS:operation timed out and TNS-00505: Operation timed out in the alertlog file. They even had problem to load stored procedures and views onto TOAD from your PC. All the user on the local network can work on this database normally.
We consulted network team and firewall team, none of them said they make any changes recently and have no firewall rule or others to block the traffic.
I have a strong feel that this is a network related problem. But don't know how to provide solid evidence to make network people/firewall people to buy it.
You can connect to the database but can't run query on large table/view?
We had power failure, and i had to restore the database from offline backup.after restore i tried to start the database and i received following errors.

I reviewed the /oracle/PRD/saptrace/diag/rdbms/prd/PRD/incident/incdir_583361/PRD_ora_7179_i583361.trc, it hugh file with alot of Jargon.
AVDF current version 12.1 not support External/SAN storage. my question is, if customer get a huge number of Audit log and DBFW event records, then how max size can Audi Vault server support for online data (not archive data)? and can I use a Hardware server with multiple HDDs for AV Server?
I have created a materialized view log on table testing_mview_rev in 11g:
SQL> CREATE MATERIALIZED VIEW LOG ON testing_mview_rev WITH ROWID;
Materialized view log created.
And a MV on it in 10g:
SQL> create materialized view testing_mview_1_rev REFRESH Force start with (sysdate) next (sysdate+1/1440) with rowid as select * from testing_mview_rev@S58_TO_S56; Materialized view created.
Now this is suppose to automatically refresh itself every minute but refresh is failing. However manual refresh is working fine.
what I have missed here. is there any other way to schedule the MV to run every minute?
I have a scenario wherein two columns compute a third one. i.e. quantity and unit_price computes "functional_amount". the column "functional amount" property disabled is set to true but there are a number of validations performed on it. Now when on a certain event "form_trigger_failure" is to be fired. the validation trigger fires multiple times (may be...).
the error alert that i have devised, is shown multiple times along with the message "validation at disabled item "functional amount" failed !". both of these messages follow one after the other unless i close the applet.
am trying to create a backup job in my UAT/testing instance, but with little success. I'm trying to create a backup job to disk (backup is to be stored in a drive local to the DB server) and it seems simple enough, but I keep getting the following error:
The job submission has failed for the following reason
ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error: hex to raw conversion error ORA-06512: at "SYSMAN.DECRYPT", line 5 ORA-06512: at "SYSMAN.MGMT_CREDENTIAL", line 408 ORA-06512: at SYSMAN.MGMT_CREDENTIAL", line 1007 ORA-06512: at "SYSMAN.MGMT_CREDENTIAL", line 1400 ORA-06512: at SYSMAN.MGMT_JOBS", line 295 ORA-06512: at "SYSMAN.MGMT_JOBS", line 78 ORA-06512: at line 1
In "Recovery Settings", I have a "Flash Recovery Area Location" defined (path local to the DB -i.e. the server that the DB resides on), a "Flash Recovery Area Size" of 4 defined, and a Flashback Retention Time of 24 hours defined. Everything else is riding default values.
In "Backup Settings", there's nothing defined. Everything here is riding default values. As I understand it, not specifying a Disk Backup Location is fine so long as the Flash Recovery Area is defined. All the local services are turned on (scheduling, etc.).
If it's relevant, I mirrored the recovery/backup settings in UAT to the same as PROD, but changed what I needed to in order to accommodate the UAT environment (e.g. paths, etc.)
FRM-92101...There was a failure in the Forms Server during startup. this could happen due to invalid configuration. Look into the web-server for the details.

While running the test form test.fmx available in DevSuiteHome_1 ools , I get the follwing error :-
FRM - 92101 There was a failure in Forms server during startup. This could happen due to invalid configuration.
I have tried to install the software many times after deinstalling but no success. However the same software has been installed on other machines too and is working absolutely fine.
i just compile all the forms on linux server and creatge a envirement in formsweb.cfg file and create my test.env file.
then when i run OC4J and starting my application. it gave me following error
frm-92101 There was failure in forms server during startup this could be happen due to invalid configuration look your web server log file for details.
i also attached the screen shot, you can see it in attachment.
