We are exploring Oracle Secure Backup in our environment as legato networker alternative. But RMAN backup in OSB is very slow due to sbt wait event (sbtwrite2). it can backup 5GB/hour. We think this not normal behavior. we have checked network throughput between media server and client server. It can send 50 GB data by 30 min.

Two questions.
1. Both Oracle Secure Backup and Oracle Secure Backup Express for x86 Solaris download the same file.
Is there no difference on Solaris?
2. Have installed and configured sgen driver and tapes can be labelled OK and the first backup works
BUT appending the next backup to the tape I get the following.

My scenario:
We have OSB 10.44 installed on 64 Bit Red Hat OS. Is working pretty fine with a Virtual Library that is configured in an Storage Box. Now we have acquired a Physical Storage and we want to duplicate the backups already taken by the Virtual Library into the new Physical Library.
We have 20 drives for the VTL and for the physical we are planning to have the same to duplicate all backups from VTL. That is being done in case Emergency Failures, so we can restore from Physical Library in case the VTL fails.
The question is: Is there any documentation on how to do duplicate backups.?
The duplicate backups copy wont be done in real time. They will be done after the backup is finished in the VTL and then will start the copy in the physical library.

We are reading a file using the ftp adapter and routing to the business service that is based on sftp.The file is picked up properly by proxy but while sending the file through SFTP, we are facing the following error.At the source and destination ends, the directories have the full permissions as required.

Even he breaks the password (he should not break but despite client has broken the password) and went inside the database, he should not be able to see the databases Procedures ,views,functions and triggers. Can we Encrypt this, if so can client will be able to decrypt the same? Is there a way to secure the database from the client not to access the database.
I'm trying to add edmx file in my project for first time. I want to choose the oracle provider ODP.net but cannot find Oracle in the data source list. I have oracle 11g installed , odp and odt installed and can access it from the solution as well. I am working on getting table information from the PS provider, so that I can understand what information is available. I am also working with the clients to determine if there are pieces of information that they need access to which are not currently native to the PS implementation. I have a problem in oracle forms 10g, as a following: Arabic language show as special character for example(????,!!!!!!,....),I use now charcterset AMERICAN_AMERICA.WE8ISO8859P1 ,I cannot change this charcterset on my database Because I am afraid that the old data may be lost
Note: I am use now oracle form 6i without no problem in Arabic language and when I intended to converted to oracle form 10g ,the language problem has come back, and I was try to change nls_lang to several charcterset charcterset(Arabic_Egypt.AR8MSWIN1256 ,......) but still show in special character character like (????,!!!!!!,....)
Oracle Restart 11.2.0.3 w/ASM. To improve redundancy we're planning to change the network configuration in our Oracle Restart environment from using 1 LAN interface to a bonded interface consisting of 2 interfaces.So the change will be from using "eth0" to using "bond0" consisting of "eth0" and "eth1". Here are my thoughts...
1. using oracle APEX to develop interface.
2. Use the excel to write macro and get the answers for user request.
3. I can write a PLSQL to run the batch job and extract the data into excel and give it to ops team.
I am using OCI and instant_client (11.2.0.3.0) in my C++ program (on Windows 7) to connect remotely to 11G database. While doing a connection using server name as well as servername:port/service_name as connection strings, I am getting error of ORA-12504 TNS:listener was not given the SERVICE_NAME in CONNECT_DATA. According to instant client FAQ & white paper at [URL]..., no tnsnames.ora is required for instant client. Then why could I be getting this error? I ensured that only the instant client directory is in Path environment variable. There was a ODBC driver installed on this same host.

I work with oracle 10g, on windows 7. sometime when i try to start my sqlplus in prompt command this message display.

SP2-1503: Unable to initialize Oracle call interface
SP2-0152: ORACLE may not be functioning properly
But the solution people have proposed into the forum are:
1 - check the environment variable Oracle_home and modify if it ending by ""
2 - or try tho run my promt command as Administrator.
I try the both, but only the second works. while now i don't understand why it works when i start the promt command as Administrator and why it no works when i don't run it like administrator. Another thing is i am the only user of my computer, i have only one session (administor session).

The problem is this: when I run an ITERATION on numbers, the select statement returns a value but the ITERATION seems to be reading zero. This leads to a bunch of zeroes in the resultant table.

As you can see, in column C-B2, despite referencing the column C_USER12 which should have 2023.55 as a value in it, it is returning the mirror opposite of C_B1 which leads me to believe that the system is reading a ZERO in the column despite displaying 2023.55.
We use apex and my professor wants us to import a table model into apex. everytime i try and import my table it says "your export file is not supported". i asked my professor what to do and he said "You should gen a ddl file from designer. Then use that to upload into apex and then run.

The 1st query is..

It created two user parameters.ie FROMDATE and TODATE.
And 2nd query like this
SELECT MCVN FROM MCSHOP1 WHERE WONO=:WONO OR WONO LIKE 'RW%'||:WONO;
I dont know how to make 2nd query in data model. becoz the WONO will come from 1st query and LIKE command is there..But I tried in formula Column....but it returns more than one row...
