Oracle Restart 11.2.0.3 w/ASM. To improve redundancy we're planning to change the network configuration in our Oracle Restart environment from using 1 LAN interface to a bonded interface consisting of 2 interfaces.So the change will be from using "eth0" to using "bond0" consisting of "eth0" and "eth1". Are there any changes that must be done in the Oracle Restart configuration to reflect these changes?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI just finished my first course in SQL for Oracle 11g at my local community college. We used SQL*Plus for the coursework and for the next class I need to use SQL Developer. Initially, I installed the Developer and was unable to establish a test connection due to the listener not being installed. I fiigured out that I needed to use the Network Configuration Assistant to add and configure the listener. After doing so, I was able to connect using Developer. The issue, however, is that any time I restart my computer, the TNS Listener service disappears from the list of services in Task Manager and I have to delete and then add and configure the service again using Network Configuration Assistant. Obviously, the Listener still exists because I can delete it and then recreate it.

We tried to change the admin credentials with sqlplus. We tried the usual procedure "apxchpwd" successfully, but we still cannot log in.We then tried to create a new admin2 account with the following pl/sql block.

We have implemented PeopleSoft with an Oracle database. What I need to do is provide clients with access to information stored in that database. Some additional information may come from other external databases, however for right now I am just trying to crawl, not run.
I am working on getting table information from the PS provider, so that I can understand what information is available. I am also working with the clients to determine if there are pieces of information that they need access to which are not currently native to the PS implementation. I have a problem in oracle forms 10g, as a following: Arabic language show as special character for example(????,!!!!!!,....),I use now charcterset AMERICAN_AMERICA.WE8ISO8859P1 ,I cannot change this charcterset on my database Because I am afraid that the old data may be lost

We are using oracle10g database. Every time, we need to run the sql query and find answers for them. We are getting lot of request every day. I wanted to develop interface and i want ops team use the interface to pull the data.
Here are my thoughts...
1. using oracle APEX to develop interface.
2. Use the excel to write macro and get the answers for user request.
3. I can write a PLSQL to run the batch job and extract the data into excel and give it to ops team.
I am using OCI and instant_client (11.2.0.3.0) in my C++ program (on Windows 7) to connect remotely to 11G database. While doing a connection using server name as well as servername:port/service_name as connection strings, I am getting error of ORA-12504 TNS:listener was not given the SERVICE_NAME in CONNECT_DATA. According to instant client FAQ & white paper at [URL]..., no tnsnames.ora is required for instant client. Then why could I be getting this error? I ensured that only the instant client directory is in Path environment variable. There was a ODBC driver installed on this same host.

But the solution people have proposed into the forum are:
1 - check the environment variable Oracle_home and modify if it ending by ""
2 - or try tho run my promt command as Administrator.
I try the both, but only the second works. while now i don't understand why it works when i start the promt command as Administrator and why it no works when i don't run it like administrator. Another thing is i am the only user of my computer, i have only one session (administor session).

I am facing the problem in windows 7. I have oracle client 10g installed. When i run sqlplus from comand prompt it gives the error as:

When I select the executable 'sql+' and run as administrator it works fine.
I have a client program that needs to communicate with another server program. My client program is implemented in PL/SQL using utl_tcp running on Oracle 9 while the server program is a 3rd party software running on Windows server 2003.
Basically my client program needs to send a request to the server, waits for the response (wait for the incoming string which ended /w chr(3) ) and then acknowledge (sending chr(6) ).
My problem is that if I wait for the chr(3) and then acknowledge. My send routine (l_sent := utl_tcp.write_text (g_conn, p_content) will raise a Oracle generic network error. It seems like the connection is closed. I checked /w the vendor and they said it might be I am taking too long to response ( I question timeout is the problem). I have also attempted to change my read routine from read_line to read_raw but it only make things worst. I cannot even read the complete string. At least with read_line, I can read back the entire string.
My current work around is to send out the ack before I receive the chr(3) (which is not recommended by our vendor).

I've looked in several places, OTN, Google, various DBA forums to figure out if the way we have a client installed on a network drive is supported by Oracle - short of asking them if it's supported.
The configuration we have is a full 10g R2 client installed on a network drive, and the various environment variables (Oracle_Home, TNS_ADMIN, etc.) point to that network location for use by client machines (I'm also trying to see if the Instant client is supported on a network location as well.) We've had this set up for years which has served us well.
A co-worker remembers years ago that this set up wasn't supported, Oracle 8 or so was his thought as to what version was used then. Another coworker at an Oracle conference asked this same question and was told that it was supported, however we can't find any documentation to that effect.
Now the question arises as to whether or not using a client installed on a networked drive is a supported configuration for 10g R2 or higher, and if so, where it would be documented.
We are in the process of changing network topology and are reviewing whether this configuration is still the right thing for us or if clients should be installed locally to where they are used.

I have a trigger on insert which sets a :new field if it is net set.Basically:

It usually works fine. With jdbc, when the application insert a null value, the trigger replaces it with the good value.When the application can determine the non-null value, it is written in the table.
But when the trigger is restarted to a savepoint, due to a table lock, the second execution of this trigger goes wrong. The input :new.work_db value is not null anymore, nor has the correct value. Most of the time, it has the ascii 00 value (NUL), sometimes another weird character.
Do you know if my trigger code is correct, or if there would be some limitations ?
11g RAC environment, I manually shutdown the database with "shutdown immediate" and stop the listener with "lsnrctl stop". Later I manually startup only the database but the listener is also started automatically at almost the same.
Why would this happen ? I just don't want the listener to startup automatically at that time. What can i do to prevent the listener from auto-starting when i startup the database manually.
My database is shut down and I am not able to restart my database. I am getting Ora-00147 error in my database.

1) we restart the services: "OracleServiceOrcl" and listener but nothing changes
2) We restart the server and nothing changes
3) We checked the dump and he was done on March,26th. No db export yesterday. Is there any link with the clock change of this week-end (location of the server: France)?
4) The lsnrctl services listener command run successfully but it doesn't mention the instance ORCL.
Is there a way to restart emctl agent12 ? if yes, could you provide me the steps / command ?
