Using Apex 4.1 and custom authentication based on Oracle Database users.
I want to be able to show a warning immediately after a user logs in if their password is due to expire in xx days. Oracle raises a warning (ORA-28002) but I don't know how to handle that from the standard Apex login page.
I'm trying to create a functionality on my application that lets the user change their password whenever they want or when the password gets expired.
But to do that, first I need a Branch to the page "Password Change" whenever the login procedure returns "Password Expire", but when the user has an expired password he can't access none of the pages of the application.
My other problem is:
Even if I can get the user to be redirect to the "Password Change" page, I would need a function that validate his current expired password, because in order to alter his own, he would need to inform his current password and the new one he desires. If I was using Apex Authentication that would be very easy I think, but I'm obligate to use Database Account Authentication.
I have an application that I am adding users to as end users. How do I assign them to a particular application? I am using Apex 4.1, Oracle 11g.

The DB package has exception handlers and also the package has two output parametersError Code and Error MsgSo in my code(Dynamic Code) i make a call to the package and checks the value for Erroc Code.

get the actual password for the database users. If we talk about the dba_users account we have password in the encrypted form how to decrypt them and get actual password.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI cannot remember my password to access an existing database in Application Express. I tried entering my password 3 times, but the system does not provide a status other than 'Invalid Login Credentials'.
I am going to assume that 3 times is limit before you have to reset the password or from what I see reinstall. When selecting reset, the system asks for an email address that was never established in the system. How can I reset my password without uninstalling and reinstalling Oracle 11g XE?

View 1 Replies View Relatedwe are working to increase the security of our oracle application by adding profil and expiration to all our database username.
Expiration is actually set to 60 days.So if i understand it correctly, 60 days is counting from when i change my password. So if I change it at 10:30am it will expire at 10:30am in 60 days.
Our forms application is calling all forms using the command open_form with SESSION parameter to open all forms in new session.
My problem is when the user connect in the system let say at 9:00am. At 10h30am the password will expire and when the user will click to open a new form from the application he will get the message ORA-28001:the password has expired.The new module will open even if password is expired and will raise the error FRM-41352: Failed to create session. So the module will stay in the same session than the caller.
Is there a way to catch the ORA-28001 and force a new logon.Probably with some code in the ON-ERROR of the called module but this mean that i will have to change +400 forms.
i want to display a list of all users on a page those currently accessing or using the application. How do i accomplish this requirement?

I am creating an application, similar to a Library app, where I have a table that stores Books information (BOOK_ID, BOOK_NAME, etc). I'd like to create another table BOOK_USER with two columns, BOOK_ID and USER_ID. BOOK_ID would refer to the BOOKS table, and I want USER_ID to refer to the table that stores user details of the workspace that I am using. The data entry would happen from a page that has two LOVs, one for book name (using BOOK_ID as the value) and another for user name (USER_ID, or whatever field APEX uses to store user's ID). Can I do that in APEX? I've found ways to access and authenticate a user for a page, but how to get data of all users in the workspace? In other words, how to get all usernames in a LOV?

These items are used for creating loginname and password for new user. When i am logging with admin user ,Chrome browser prompts for save password or not save password

I have verified that the ID and workspace are correct, but I do not remember what i set my password to the first time i logged in (account was created by my instructor). There is no "forgot password" or "reset password" link that shows on the page.

Before executing the apxchpwd.sql, found the "alter session command" sets schema to APEX_030000. So we changed that to APEX_040200. Then we executed the sql script. It executed fine.
But now when we try to login to apex, and pressing enter after providing the username/pwd, it raises the following exception

My question here is what if we dont reset the password by 20th of March.Will we not be able to reset the password once the password is expired ?

Trying to upgrade APEX within an Oracle XE database installation on Windows 7. The version of APEX that came with Oracle XE is 4.0.2. Trying to upgrade to 4.1.1 and, from the SQL*Plus command-line (ie. the 'Run SQL Command' tool which comes with Oracle XE), I try to run @apexins.sql.
It starts to run momentarily, then the MS-DOS windows just closes. Can not find any install log to determine the cause.
I downloaded Oracle Database 11g Express Edition R2 to test Apex (I've never used). I want to know how to change the language of the version of Apex (integrated with Oracle Database 11g XE)? I would apex in French.
