create user identified by password
grand dba to user
alter user password_life_time unlimited
is this all i need to do?
I have altered an user account and set the account status as expired.When I tried to connect with that user, oracle prompted for changing password.
But, after I changed the password, I got an error message as ora-01017 invalid username/password logon denied password unchangedWhat is the cause and solution for it? I am using 11g database and 10g client.
i want to create a group xyz and add some users to xyz group and want to grant/revoke permissions to xyz. So that all the users present in that group will have the same permissions as of the xyz group. so that instead of giving the permissions to users individually i can give it at a time.

I have been asked to improve the speed of our extract feeds to another team. It was using an excel file as csv created with C# reading the csv into a global temporary table and a procedure to insert rows from global table to main table one at a time.
Around 1 million rows That was taking around 25 min. After trying sqlldr and an intermediate table I managed to reduce timing to 15 sec with sqlldr and Direct Path Load. I tried all that in one of our own DEV databases. Now we want to try the approach in one of DEV databases belong to downstream group (the one we feed data). They are rather reluctant to give me access to their DEV database! I have asked them to create a new login and grant object creation (DDL) to this user.They keep saying that they are prepared to give me a role but NOT schema owner. What is the best way of enabling me to create tables somewhere and test loading times with sqlldr.
I need to do full DDL (table/proc creation) and DML on a certain schema. So my question: What is the best way of doing so.. Do I need a schema created for user to do this workI they already have a general purpose schema, can they create a role to have full DDL: rights in that schema?

i have a field in one table called item_name based on which i am creating new item name as duplicate with new given length, for eg there is one item_code which has length of 12000mm i am going and replacing the string using instr function and replace function based on criteria that where i will find mm it will extract a portion and replace the new length as 6300mm.But its failing because some time user is creating the original item code without mm, is there a way.

The server where this will be running previously had a database for a pretty similar app. I don't know much about Oracle so I reused the ZFS filesystems and left them how they were created (because honestly, I didn't knew why they were created that way, but I'm pretty sure it was for a good reason).

Since I reused the filesystems I created my database and placed the controlfiles in the same places where the old database files were (/oradata/SMART/ora1,/oradata/SMART/ora2,/oradata/SMART/ora3). Thinking like MySQL works I created CODEapp/oradata_smart_ora4 60.6K 400G 60.6K /oradata/SMART/ora4 specifically to store the database there.
The databases startups and mounts no problem. Note that this server will manage with millions/billions records throughout its lifetime.
1. Now that my Database is created, whats the next step? Create the Schema or Tablespace?
2. Tablespace Questions: Tablespace datafile(s) is where actual data from tables is stored? how many are needed? Default or Temporary? How much space will I need for it? Autoextend?
I have data in multiple oracle tables. I have to create a extract flat file after applying some validation and business logic on it and store it in unix server with naming convention FF_RMS_SC_<<YYYYMMDDhhmm>>.txt.This job will be scheduled to run daily to create the flat file.

Everything is working fine but the problem is, when the cursor move back to the field (A) the existing text is highlighted and when user right something in it. It's overwriting the existing text.
I want when the cursor moving bank to the field (A) the text should not be highlighted and when the user writes something that will be added to the existing text.

View 8 Replies View RelatedJust installed the new 2.0.8 version. Its been a while I am interested on using PM for our company.The problem I have is creating an Oracle DB connection. When I create a new Oracle DB connection, and test it, Steps 3 and 4 fail.What is strange is that I followed the following procedure in PM 1.9-825 and worked fine. I am wondering if something changed in the new PM 2.0.8 version (I noticed that php_oci8.dll was commented out in php.ini).
Oracle Version is 10GR2
PM installed on clean XP sp3
1. Got a new Windows XP SP3 PC
2. Installed PM 2.0.8
3. Edited php.ini and uncommented [PHP_OCI8] and extension=php_oci8.dll
4. Installed oracle instant client “instantclient-basic-win32-10.2.0.5” in c:oracle
5. Installed oracle instant client “instantclient-sqlplus-win32-10.2.0.4” in c:oracle
6. Added c:oracle in PATH environment variable
7. Created ORACLE_HOME = c:oracle environment variable
8. Added TNS_ADMIN = c: environment variable
9. Copied working tnsnames.ora file into c:
10. Rebooted.

What if as part of the installer, I need to test a connection string entered by the user? That seems to be the sticking point for me. Even after installing the instant client (from the x64 xcopy zip file using install.bat), the installer is not able to connect to the database.
And, the application is 64 bit only (we need the 64 bit Crystal Reports runtime), meaning I've got the 64 bit Oracle instant client installed. I suspect that might be the problem since the msiexec installer process is 32 bit.
