I upgraded my APEX instance from 4.1 to 4.2 and now I can't go to (INTERNAL) Manage Instance->Instance Settings I see only ORA-28817: PL/SQL function returned an error.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm developing, or trying, on Apex 4.2...The issue is about themes and how to manage the positions of diferents Display Points of a theme.
Everybody know that any theme have a map where its position all differents parts of this map (Body1, Body2, Body3, position01, position02 and so). So when you choice any theme, it come with all this Display points defined. You can see this map rendering any region page and in the item Display Point you can see this map clicking on the light.
There is anyway to can manage this map and change position or behavior of those points?. For example , I'm interested that under the tabs, to have at the same height, 3 diferentes position, one at left, one at center and other at right.
I have a tabular form, when salve at data, works fine. But when update at data following error occurs: Error in mru internal routine: ORA-20001: Current version of data in database has changed since user initiated update process. current checksum.
View 4 Replies View RelatedWe have several prod instances and many applications on each of these... and interactive reports saved by many users.Each prod application have its own ID, distinct from the dev application ID.
Until today I used the apex_application_install inside the first wokspace only, and it works fine, but I need to update applications on every instances. It seems the only way to keep a saved report during an update is to use the same application Id (use the app n°200 to overwrite the n°200).So it means the only available method is : release the dev app on the dev workspace ; export 50 apps from it and import those 50 times, maybe more in the future.

I am trying to design a database consolidation high-availability cluster for Oracle 11g R2 64-bit Enterprise Edition (X86-64) on Oracle Linux 6.x UEK, using Oracle 11.2.0.3 (the latest as of Aug 2012).
We don't need RAC Multi-Node now or in foreseeable future because none of the databases we run break the capacity of a single node. Likewise, we don't need to use Oracle VM to virtualise the database instances.
We plan to use SGA and PGA memory management to run multiple instances on same hardware operating on a single Linux 64-bit O/S image.Does it sound ok so far?
Two or three of 4-socket, 40-core Intel 64-bit servers with 512GB of RAM each (relatively cheap at today's HW commodity prices) will be sufficient to run all Oracle databases we have on Linux 64-bit.So the two HA options that I know of are:
(1) use Oracle Clusterware/Grid/ASM to provide for instance failover
(2) use Oracle RAC One Node on top of Clusterware/Grid/ASM
As I understand it RAC One Node is significantly more expensive than the "free" Oracle Clusterware/ASM/Grid (since we own Oracle 11.2.0.3 Enterprise Licences already). So why should my employer pay for RAC One Node licence given they already own Single Instance Fail-Over and Restart protection from Clusterware/Grid/ASM ?
I also read that Data Guard 11.2 may not be supported with RAC One Node on 11.2? True? Will same Data Guard 11.2 work with a Single-Instance Failover running on Clusterware/Grid/ASM ?

- one ASM instance
- X DB instances
- each DB instance uses 2 or more dedicated diskgroups from the ASM instance
- there is one diskgroup named FREEDISK that contains spare disks
On each DB instance you can see:
- the list and global parameters of all diskgroups using v$asm_diskgroup view
- the list and parameters of all disks the instance is using with v$asm_disk view
So my question is: how (if this is possible) to know the list of (spare) disks in FREE DISK disk group?
I have 11gR2 GI installed on two nodes. I am trying to convert a 10g single instance (uses ASM) database to RAC and getting this error. I am trying using 12c as well as manually by using rconfig.

I am using Oracle XE with SQL Developer to teach a course on databases.
The students complete a number of small projects. How can a student separate the projects so as to be able to open in SQL Developer only the tables pertaining to a specific project? Ideally, the student would be able to assign the same name to two tables that belong to different projects.
I know that this can be done by naming conventions and filtering, but this is awkward.

What do I do for the transactions inside PLSQL to ensure all 5 pariticpate in the Java transaction? I suppose I just do not specify any COMMIT in the PLSQL, but that probably would not work as PLSQL would COMMIT by default after exiting the proc?
We just purchased NAS (Raid5) unit to manage our data storage. I am planning to create a virtual partition on this nas device and use one partition for oracle data storage and another virtual partition will be used by other data (files and may be sqlserver data files....etc..)
We will have oracle installed on seperate oracle server. Can we use RMAN to manage incremental backups in this environment? May main worry point is that our data storage device will have many different type of datas and will we be able to tell RMAN to make backups only from certain virtual drives?
We are using oracle 10g. with our code, Currently Oracle partitions are size the same way, each partition is using 10MB for data and 12MB for indexes (with the 6 default indexes); even of very few records are written in the partition.
We create partitions in advance as a part of nightly job with 10 minutes duration.Can some intelligence can be added where based on statistics we can decide the size of partition dynamically? Lot of space is getting wasted because of this reason.
I have successfully installed the Oracle 10g standerd version with a sample database on Windows server 2008 standard server. Then I installed the client so that I could use the Enterprise manage console that comes with it. Once installed, I was able to successfully configured the Net service. Now when I use either Enterprise manage console or SQL plus to login to the service that I created, once I enter the user id and password and click ok, system automatically closes both applications. I am not sure what is missing. I installed the same client on a windows XP pc and the enterprise manage console is working perfect.

i want to create a form conatining a BEAN item through which i want to insert and select a BLOB movie from a Table in a database.
I have to manage an active passive cluster on SLES10 SP4. Oracle 10.2.0.4. All oracle binaries are on a DRBD Device on mountpoint /oradata. This mountpoint includes the binaries and all datafiles.
I havent installed these systems. At one stage on node died and got reinstalled by a system administrator. After a switch from the running node to the standby node, the cluster is not starting.

After issuing $ORACLE_HOME/bin/localconfig add the cluster is starting, the asm instance is coming up, and also the database instance is starting.
Shortly after that the db instance dies. Alert log is showing something like recursive sql error. Looks like writing to the datafiles is not working. In asmcmd the diskgroups are showing DISMOUNTED (show MOUNTED before)
so what to do ?
a) Why is it necessary to issue "localconfig add" to make the cluster starting ?
b) What could be a reason for not being able to write to the database ?
c) How to install an active/passive cluster ?
c1) Install OS on both nodes
c2) Install oracle binaries
c2.1) on both nodes in the local files system and do the mapping to the drbd afterwards?
c2.2) only on one node and just switch the mountpoint ?

Now we want an additional header variable to be passed from OAM to the Apex application. This new header variable will be user's sAMAccountName in Active Directory. OAM is integrated with AD and the AD users are successfully able to access the Apex applications.
The three header variables which are configure in OAM right now are:
Header variable name Value
1. OAM_REMOTE_USER $user.userid
2. OAM_REMOTE_USER_EMAIL $user.attr.mail
3. OAM_REMOTE_USER_GROUPS $user.groups
We need an additional header variable as mentioned below:
Header variable name: OAM_SAMACCOUNTNAME
Value: $user.attr.samaccountname
The new header variable was added in the OHS server's dads.conf file like shown below:

But we are not able to read the value of this attribute in the Apex application.On the Apex application, we have a text box which shows the value of this header variable. This textbox is attached with the following stored procedure call to fetch the header variable:

I have multiple application set-up using session sharing within the workspace.Technically all works fine, however it does not play nice with user behaviour.
Example:
Users logs into APP_ID:100. Since he isn't authenticated yet, he provides user/pass and the APP_SESSION is authenticated.
Now if the user switches using to another application (using a link provided in application 100) he gets redirect to APP_ID:101:APP_SESSION all is fine.
The session is already authenticated, the application shares the session and the user gains access to app 101 without having to authenticate again. All's fine!
However users don't behave they way. Instead of using an easy link in the application. They will use their own bookmark or type in the url for app 101 manually. That way the next application is either called with f?p=101:1:[SOME OLD SESSIONID FROM BOOMARK] or f?p=101 (with no further page or session info) In both cases instead of using the already authenticated session apex spawns a new session, which of course isn't authenticated yet thus forcing the user to authenticate and come complaining they have to login again.
Similar behaviour problems exists when the user opens a browser and tries to open both applications in each in a tab next to each other.Both tabs fetch there own initial session id and start writing it to the same cookie each in turn invalidating the other tab's session.These can lead to some fanatic ping pong actions. Thus it's impossible to open 2 applications sharing session in the same browser.
Is there any remedy for these situations?Can apex be as smart as for instance first trying to resume the session stored in the cookie and only if that session is invalid, start a new session?

When I was looking through various threads and guides, I've encountered checkbox corresponding array names like "g_f01" - "g_f50". And so far i saw that these names are derived from item name in generated HTML code, for example:

And this one stands for array name "g_*f10*".However, when I tried to do the same thing - i receive item name which looks like "*p_v04*", and therefore, I can't figure out, which array name should I choose to adress it properly.

View 1 Replies View RelatedAPEX 4.0 Sometimes, I am getting the below error when I tried to logging into APEX workspace (after giving workspace name, User name and password), Expecting p_company or wwv_flow_company cookie to contain security group id of application owner.
ErrorERR-7621 Could not determine workspace for application (:) on application accept. I found some threads related to this but in different way not exactly when I am getting this error.
After 2 or 3 times, this error will not come and I can able to logging into workspace What is the cause for this issue??
Each time when I import an application into my workspace in local 10g XE using the APEX 4.2 Application Builder, I get the "ORA-02291, constraint wwv_flows_fk violated..". The application I whant to import was originally exported from [URL]. I found out, that it has to to with wwv_flow_application_install.get_workspace_id in the installation script, which obviously returns NULL and not my current workspace id as I suppose it should. I replaced wwv_flow_application_install.get_workspace_id by '<my worskspace id>' and then the import does work.
