As I was observing the space issues on my db server. I found that there is lots of Trm and Trc file which is being created very much frequently. Due to this its consuming lots of space even the size of each files is not more than 1Mb.
For cleaning I am deleting all the trm and trc files mannully using DEL command Os level. How can i schedule the purging of trm and trc files.
Windows 2003, DB 10.2.0.3...I have to read some files from remote folder, so on remote Windows machine I shared folder c:est (grant Everyone first, and Administrator then) and on DB Server I mapped the remote folder with letter T..All these operations were made with administrator privileges.
In Oracle I create a directory object with this command: CREATE OR REPLACE directory T_DIR AS 'T:';
Then I granted read and write privileges to my user GRANT READ, WRITE ON DIRECTORY T_DIR TO <user>; (I tried also to set PUBLIC and SYSTEM)
But when I try to open a file with UTL_FILE with this command
the error is Exception: ORA-29283: operazione file non valida ORA-06512: a "SYS.UTL_FILE", line 475 ORA-29283: operazione file non valida
If I change my directory object in 'C: est' (local folder) it works correctly.I tried also restart DB while shared folders were connected but with the same result.I tried, from sqlplus, the command host (dir t:) and it works (folder is accessible)
I have 2 similar tables. Same columns. Data inserted to second table from first for a condition and first table is truncated. Then data moved from second to first and second table truncated. Second table is to store data for a small period of time. First table has indexes. Do I need any index on second table?
The query on second table is always insert into second select * from first. Similarly insert into first select * from second.
I am facing problem while inserting data into Core Table from staging (both Core Table and Staging are on same database but different schema)
I am using below command:
INSERT /*+ APPEND PARALLEL("CORE TABLE", DEFAULT, DEFAULT) */ INTO SELECT DATA from Staging
CORE TABLE is quit big contains millions of record partition on date and having old stats of 2007. Data fetching from staging is very fast appx 1 million record in 2 mins. we are inserting one day data daily into CORE TABLE from staging and its taking 3 Hrs.
We have Development, Staging/UAT ( installed on XX.XX.XX.10 ) and Production ( installed on XX.XX.XX.20) Environment respectively. I have queries regarding getting the data from Production environment into Staging environment. The overall PROD database size is around 250 GB.
STAGING DATABASE DETAILS
SID : STG_DB Staging Schema Name :schema_UAT Replication Schema Name :schema_PrdReplica ( This is the schema where the production data gets loaded daily)
PROD DATABASE DETAILS
SID : PROD_DB Prod Schema Name : schema_PROD
What is happening now: ---------------------------- There is a script (Stored Proc) written on staging ( STG_DB.schema_PrdReplica ) environment which executes daily in NIGHT and does replication. Currently we use DBMS_DATAPUMP to get the ENTIRE data/Meta Data (Everything) from Production to Staging. It is ta king significantly more time. It takes approx 8 Hours to replicate the everything from PROD_DB.schema_PROD to STG_DB.schema_PrdReplica
What I am expecting : ----------------------------- I want to reduce the replication time.
I have heard about Level 0 (Full BackUp ) and Level 1 ( Incremental Cumulative ) Backups in RMAN. I am planning to take PROD_DB.schema_PROD Full Backup (Level 0) on Sunday and will restore that on STG_DB.schema_PrdReplica immediately. And on weekdays ( Mon - Fri ) I will take Level 1 ( Incremental Cumulative ) and will restore that on STG_DB.schema_PrdReplica
I am assuming by doing so, the overall replication time will be reduced. How can I implement this with script assuming that two different servers are on different machines.
I've a staging table STG_TABLEA which has a primary key discount_seq_no.
I am creating a pl/sql procedure to populate a primary key (discount_seq_no) with a database sequence. The intent is to keep this populated with next value incrementing by 1.
I am using Oracle 11.2.0.2 version.
I've put together the below code, not sure on next steps...
BEGIN UPDATE STG_TABLEA SET A.DISCOUNT_SEQ_NO = "INSERT A SEQUENCE HERE AND KEEP INCREMENTING the seq value by 1 COMMIT; EXCEPTION WHEN OTHERS THEN RAISE; END;
I am having a similar problem like above ONLY in UNIX box where my datafile is delimited by "|". The last field is ITM_CMNT declared as VARCHAR2(60) in Oracle. When I have exactly 60bytes in the last field it rejects the record saying actual 61 and max allowed is 60. If i reduce it to < 60bytes then it is stored as a value enclosed with double quotes. The enclosing double quote is on the next line.
"PROC,RAM,FLPY,HD,ACT MTX CLR DSP,D/PCMCIA,TRKBAL,LIT ION BA"
Expected: the one below is exactly 60bytes.
PROC,RAM,FLPY,HD,ACT MTX CLR DSP,D/PCMCIA,TRKBAL,LIT ION BAT LOAD DATA INFILE * INTO TABLE TMPTLI_LAWSON_ITM_MST TRUNCATE FIELDS TERMINATED BY "|" (ITM_NO, HAZ_MAT_CD, ITM_SHRT_DS, ITM_SON "TRIM(:ITM_SON)", ADDED_DT DATE "YYYY-MM-DD", AVL_CD , ITM_CST_AMT, ITM_SLL_AMT, EXCHG_PRC_AMT , ITM_UOM "TRIM(:ITM_UOM)", PCK_QTY INTEGER EXTERNAL, SPC_HNDL_CD "TRIM(:SPC_HNDL_CD)", EFF_DT DATE "YYYY-MM-DD", ITM_CMNT "TRIM(:ITM_CMNT)")
I`m using the the version 11.0.2.3 for testing. I read a line as below from the OCP book.
If none of the LOG_ARCHIVE_DEST_n parameters have been set, then transitioning. the database to archivelog mode will internally set LOG_ARCHIVE_DEST_10 to the flash recovery area, if it has been configured. In my database the fast recovery already been set as below.
SQL> show parameter db_recovery
NAME TYPE VALUE ------------------------------------ ----------- ------------------------------ db_recovery_file_dest string +FASTRECOVERY db_recovery_file_dest_size big integer 4248M
So I thought if I turn the database into archive log mode, then the log_archive_dest_10 will be set as the same value as db_recovery_dest.
SQL> alter database archivelog;
Database altered.
SQL> alter database open;
Database altered.
SQL> show parameter log_archive_dest
NAME TYPE VALUE ------------------------------------ ----------- ------------------------------ log_archive_dest string log_archive_dest_1 string log_archive_dest_10 string
See, after the database become archive, the log_archive_dest_10 still be empty. So is there any thing wrong with my understanding?
I want to select the IDs which have no IN or PLANNING status in AREA 9

So if an ID has has IN or PLANNING status in AREA 9 i do not wish to see it!

I am running Apex 4.2 on Oracle Express Edition (Linux). Sometimes my login page has the alignments of the Workspace/username/password login area below the Apex image as below: [URL] ........
This is with using Firefox. The font page renders ok with other browsers like IE or Chrome.
I have created a region Q_INFO and in the region i have added HTML text area. This text area is editable for only few users. If the user types in the text area and presses save button. The text is stored in the table INFO. And this text is displayed to all other users. But when i enter any data in the text area with multiple new lines and press SAVE button. The text is displayed in single line. I want to maintain new line and paragraph in the text area.
I am using textarea item to enter and save data into table but saved data doesn't retain all formatting eg line breaks so how can i format the text entered in the textarea so it retains line breaks when saved in the table or sent in the email via APEX_MAIL.SEND... in APEX 4.1.1,
We have a table with interval partition. This table is accessed very frequently. We are suppose to exchange partitions between this actual table from it's corresponding staging table.
In order to keep the newly created partitions empty, is there a way to restrict other applications from using it before we push data from staging table to it's actual table.
How to avoid sort operation by an order by clause without changing the sort area size.what hints or changes should be done in query so that order by clause work faster.
so i will give 10 invoices with dates in the above parameters to generate the report, actually the report prints in a pre-printed sheet, well it prints the first page correctly but the second page and continuous pages not printing in the exact pre-printed area. example see below;
(Page2) 506176 28/11/2011 (Preprinted text)INVOICE NO : INVOICE DATE:
how to give spaces between pages actually every pages it should print 3 to 4 inches gap between the first page but it prints just one inch above the preprinted area. how to make it print without gaps. Additional Information: Preprinted sheet Height 17 inches.
Paper Layout Width 8.5 Height 12

i have a ref cursor and i have used 'open cursor for' statement:
CREATE OR REPLACE PACKAGE aepuser.pkg_test AS TYPE cur1 IS REF CURSOR; PROCEDURE get_empdetails (p_empno NUMBER, io_cur OUT cur1); END;
[code]...
then i want to know that- will oracle automatically deallocate the memory occupied by records in cursor area?if yes, then when it will be free , in case of 'open cursor for' ?
Have got basic form on a table and have a textarea which holds Notes added by user.
So Notes database field is updated on Save / Apply changes button being pressed.But would really like any text added / appended to the Notes field to be prefixed by userid and date / timestamp.
Is it possible via dynamic actions or Javascript to have any new text added / typed to be auto prefixed as per above.
Would only want the first key press in the filed to trigger the auto-prefix and if added text was deleted then the auto prefix to be deleted as well ?? If user doesn't press Save / Apply changes obviously want to leave existing Notes as is.
I just switched my STBDY DB to a PRIMARY DB and I am ran the following:
RMAN> CONFIGURE ARCHIVELOG DELETION POLICY TO NONE;

what causes this warning and how to get rid of it?
I am working in a bank as an system consultant, i have a SAN Storage Area and oracle as below.
SAN 1
This interface includes the DATA FILES of the oracle tablespace
SAN 2
SAN1 Mirrors the DATA FILES of the oracle tablespace to SAN 2
1. Can i rely on real time data recovery from SAN2 ? 2. if SAN1 (Data Files are currupted) will the SAN2 Data Files will be currupted as well. 3. If the SAN2 is currupted then what Oracle Features can be used to have uncurrupted data.
I want to change backup location for Oracle 9i Database. there is no flash recovery area in 9i, so i want the parameter which i can use to modify backup location to anywhere i want.
I want to Transfer Oracle Database 11g Release 11.1.0.7.0 on windows 2003 32 bit server to Windows 2008 server 64 bit I have Cold RMAN backup. and directory structure of both server are same Do i need to do anything to change datafile to 64 bit or do i need to apply any change to any object
We have a .NET application on windows server 2008 32bit using the stored procedures on an Oracle 10g environment. We are trying to deploy the .NET application onto a 64bit x86 Windows server 2008.
We face an error trying to install the x64 version of the Oracle 10g client on windows 2008. The error we get is Problem signature:
Problem Event Name: APPCRASH Application Name: javaw.exe
Is the x64 version of the Oracle 10g client certified for Windows 2008? Has anyone successfully installed the 64bit version of the oracle client on win2008?
We have a workaround in place with 32 bit version of the client running with the 32 bit version of the .NET application on x64 win2008. However to maximize the infrastructure we need to use the 64 bit version or we would have to turn to MSSQL Server .
