Part Number E10953-1518 Configuring Enterprise Manager for Active and Passive Environments18.1 Using Virtual Host Names for Active and Passive High Availability Environments in Enterprise Manager Database ControlSet Up the Alias for the Virtual Host Name and Virtual IP Address

You can set up the alias for the virtual host name and virtual IP address by either allowing the clusterware to set it up automatically or by setting it up manually before installation and startup of Oracle services. The virtual host name must be static and resolvable consistently on the network. All nodes participating in the setup must resolve the virtual IP address to the same host name. Standard TCP tools similar to nslookup and traceroute commands can be used to verify the set up.

RAC & Failsafe :: Using One EC2 Machine To Host Several Linux VMs Using Virtual Box

Dec 22, 2010

How to get a RAC running in an EC2 environment?

It isn't possible to use one EC2 machine for each RAC node because EC2 can't handle the virtual IPs, but I had thought that I could use one EC2 machine to host several Linux VMs using Virtual Box (the same way that I use Virtual Box on a Windows host). But I can't get Virtual Box working on EC2. The only relevant advice I can find on this is comments to the effect that running any virtualization product with a Xen machine as host is not a good idea.

I do realize that this isn't a 100% Oracle question, but if set up a RAC on an Amazon Cloud machine,

Accessing Oracle On VirtualBox From Host Virtual Machine?

Jul 18, 2013

I have a Host system of windows 8, installed the Virtual Box Latest edition.The guest OS is the oracle Linux that came with the Pre-Built Developer VMs from Oracle.The VM is set to HOST ONLY network setting. Now, the thing is that i want to access the Oracle in the guest machine from my windows host machine.the guest OS shows the IP address as 192.168.56.101. I can ping the IP address from the HOST machine, but cannot connect theSQL developer to the oracle in the guest OS from the host machine. It keeps on saying the Network adapter cannot connect. do not say that install the oracle in window itself. I actually want to do the same on my macbook pro as that is my primary machine.

Forms Host Command Cannot Copy To Network Drive

Oct 3, 2013

I am using the HOST command within Oracle Forms 10g on Windows server to copy a pdf file from the application server to a network folder on another Windows server.

The command works fine if I logon to Windows app server and type it. But it doesn't work when it is launched within Oracle forms using HOST. The command looks as follow

net use \\FileServer\e-file /user:usergroup\username password & copy D:\RepTmp\myReport.pdf \\FileServer\e-file\test\myReport.pdf

Oracle forms doesn't give any error message at all but the pdf file never gets there. Even when I map the network folder as "R:" drive on the Windows app server, a simple copy command like this does not work with HOST:

copy D:\RepTmp\myReport.pdf r:\test\myReport.pdf

Oracle Forms server is running as "SYSTEM" on the Windows server. If HOST won't work, is there any other way to copy the file other than using fpt?

here mainserver is the server name, forms is the folder name and employee is the form name in fmx format.My question is when i call form from server with in a network no problem but When i call form from outside lan that through internet via static ip forms are not called.I tried like this way call_form('\198.52.67.66FORMSemployee.fmx',no_hide).Here i have specified static ip and forms folder but is not working.

Application Express :: Possible Bug In Export Of Static Files In V4.1.1.00.23

Jun 8, 2012

We recently updated to version 4.1.1.00.23, and need to do an export of our static files to migrate from our development to test (ApEx run-time) platform. When our DBA attempted to run the export script (we had renamed it from static_file.sql to browser_detect.sql), he received this error:

SQL> @browser_detect.sql

The symbol "(" was substituted for "P_NOTES" to continue.

. ( ) , * % & = - + < / > at in is mod remainder not rem
<an exponent (**)> <> or != or ~= >= <= <> and or like LIKE2_
LIKE4_ LIKEC_ between || multiset

We took a look at static_file.sql, and noticed this:

declare
l_name    varchar2(255);
l_html_id number := null;
begin
l_name := 'browser_detect.js';
wwv_flow_html_api.remove_html(
[code].......

The comma is missing after the p_flow_id parameter. This appears to be a bug in the export. It appears to be happening pretty consistently (other static files for this application, other static files for other existing applications).

I did a search of the forum to see if this issue reported this and checked listing on OTN and I don't see any reference to this particular issue. We're hesitant to just add the comma right now since we don't know whether there may be any other issues in the file it's generating.

PL/SQL :: How To Display Pseudo Static Index Using Select Statement

Jul 20, 2012

I have to display a 24 hours time as an index. (00:00 - 23:00) That is easy, if the data exists.

But, if the data is not regularly exists on specific hour (the time/hours is not regular, i.e: 00:00, 01:00, 05:00, 08:00, 10:00, 11:00, 23:00), then it is OK for a TABLE, but not for a CHART.

Here is the story:

I wrote an SQL statement that can "choose" what to display respectively to the the available time. The result will be displayed on the chart: Days or Time is used for X-Axis, and the respective Value on the Y-Axis.

Example:

+ if the data consists of "days" (i.e: the last 5 days from now, 16/07/2012, 17/07/2012, 18/07/2012, 19/07/2012, 20/07/2012), then the chart will show those dates on the X-Axis.

+ if the data consists of "hours" (i.e: 1 single day, from 00:00 hour - 23:00), then the chart shows hours on the X-Axis.

If the 'hours' are not regular, means: there is no data on specific hours, the query result is also not regular, means: the X-Axis-value 'jumps' irregularly.

Question:

Is it possible to query our own static value?

for example:

select 'hello' from dual --> result: "hello", 1 column, 1 row

But how to display this in multiple rows, i.e.:

Time
*****
0
1
2
3
4
5
...
...
23

Note: the X-Axis on the chart template can be only customized for 1 single mode, example: "Days", but of course it is not going to show up properly if the query result are in "Hours". It means: I have to find the workaround on the SQL Query.

Networking And Gateways :: Oracle Forms 6i Call Form Via Static IP?

Sep 6, 2011

I had a query related to call_form function in forms 6i.How can I call a particular form via static ip(outside LAN),but the actual forms are stored in a server called "MAIN_SERVER" which resides in internal LAN domain.That is I have stored location of all my forms path(fmx)in my database table called "FORMS_LOCATION" in the MAIN_SERVER system under the directory "FORMS".From here only users can call all the forms by call_form function.To understand see the example below,

In the table FORMS_LOCATION,there is a column call "forms_path" which holds the value like,

//MAIN_SERVER/FORMS/EMPLOYEE.FMX;
(server_name,foldername,form_name)

In application the call_form just uses the column "forms_path" to call the form.like CALL_FORM("forms_path",no_hide) this statement will call the form from the main_server.

Here 1.MAIN_SERVER is the name of the server system where forms fmx is actually stored under the folder name "FORMS".When the users access the particular form the call_form function call the form from the MAIN_SERVER.Now there are no problem inside the LAN.Incase if I access the database and call the form outside LAN via internet through STATIC IP what happened was database was connected but call_form function failed and not calling the form because which does not know the MAIN_SERVER/FORMS/ path.

Because my user want to access the form outside lan via internet,so I tried replacing the above statement like //192.54.67.98/FORMS/EMPLOYEE.FMX' with static ip in the prefix instead of local server called MAIN_SERVER.But its not working again.How can I do this?.

Testing 9i On Virtual Machine Under RHEL 4.8

Sep 1, 2010

I work as a Sys. Admin. for several RHEL 3.8 servers, most of them are clusters of 2 machines. All these servers are running Oracle 9.2.0.7 database. They are running fine on a separate filesystem. So everytime the system has to be formatted for some particular reason, there is no need to re-install the database.

I am trying to make some tests by running the same filesystem containing the oracle database in a fresh Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4.8 X86_64 Install. This task has become impossible, and I'm not quite sure why.

I installed all the compat- packages required for a fresh oracle 9 install in a RHEL4 machine, but at the time of stating the STARTUP sentence, it gives me the next error:

CMCLI ERROR: OpenCommPort: connect failed with error 2.
CMCLI ERROR: OpenCommPort: connect failed with error 2.
CMCLI ERROR: OpenCommPort: connect failed with error 2.
CMCLI ERROR: OpenCommPort: connect failed with error 2.
CMCLI ERROR: OpenCommPort: connect failed with error 2.

After this error (repeated) it says something like: Cannot start an already running database.... But if i stat a shutdown sentence, it says that the instance has not been initialized....

I don't know whether i have to re-install all the oracle software in order to make a clean install in the new kernel version or not, i tried to apply a patch, and the oracle installer recognized the installation i had.

I think it might be because the original system is configured to work as a cluster, and i'm running it on only a virtual machine.
