Forms :: How To Incorporate Unicode Font With 10g
May 12, 2008I am using 10g Database and 10g forms/reports on Windows.
NLS_LANG = AMERICAN_AMERICA.AL32UTF8 for both database and forms/reports. I set this from REGEDIT.
I want to use, Arial Unicode Ms or Mangal font to add or view the data in MARATHI (Regional).In the database browser, I can see the ported data properly with these two fonts, but through form if I try to add then it not showing proper characters, it showing squraes instead of typed characters.
I also typed a label in the form, at design time it showing proper word, but at runtime it not showing proper letters. This I observed only for joined characters.If I generates the report in PDF, format then it not showing data properly. but in runtime it showing properly.

Nov 24, 2011When I run my report , I generate it in pdf format, and some fields in my report have persian characters so
1- I use Tahoma font, and
2- I have change my window registery to america_america.ar8mswin1256 also
3-I have modified UIFONT.ALI (but when I add tahoma font in this file , then I check the font in property menu of pdf file , its type is not change to type3---- I'm not sure about the modfication in this file----)
4- I have added windows/font path in report_path in registry
5- I made sure that there is tahoma.ttF in this path
but after opening PDF file ,those fields which are in Persian language (persian characters) are dipalyed in strange font.

Oct 1, 2013we have upgraded our discoverer from 3i to 4i and from 4i to 10g. After that we faced a strange problem related to arabic font
when opening discoverer desktop and open the list of the saved reports. some reports that was saved by an Arabic name are display by name '????'(question marks)
also another issue when opening it . It open normal but some columns that are Arabic are displayed in this way (ßÇÑÊ-ÇíÌíÈÊ Êáì ßÇÑÏ- ÝÆÉ 100 Ìã). so i must change the column font from "tahoma" to "arial" or any other font that support Arabic.

Apr 22, 2011I got a primary database with a logical standby database running Oracle 11g. I got two client applications, one is the production site pointing to the primary one, another one is just a backup site pointing to the logical one.Things will only be written into the primary database every mid night and client applications can only query the database but not add, update nor delete.And now, I want to apply the latest patch on both of my databases. I am also the DNS administrator, I can make the name server pointing to the backup site instead of the production one.I want to firstly apply the patch on the logical one, and then the physical one.
I found some reference which explains how to apply patches by adopting "Rolling Upgrade Method". however, I want to avoid doing any "switch over" mentioned in the reference because I can make use of name server. Can I just apply patches as the following way?
1)Stop SQL apply
2)Apply patches on logical standby database
3)let the name server point to the backup site
4)Apply patches on the primary database
5)Start SQL apply
6)Let the name server point back to the production site

We have configured oracle one way stream between two databases. Source database is capturing the changes (No downstream configured). Configuration was working fine but destination database was lagging behind very much i.e about 15 days behind the source database. We are ok with this but the problem is now that , as per client request we have restored previous backup and open the database with resetlog option in source database. After resetlog , archivelog sequence has been changed and stream is not working.
Can I apply the previous archivelog (before resetlog archivelogs ) in destination database anyway.Source database is a production database.

Jul 25, 2012I tried to clone a 2 node rac database to single instance non rac database using existing backup. I have not used connectivity to target or catalog. rman duplicate finished with below messages:

Segmentation fault
And the database was in mount stage, and when i tried to open database it failed with below error:

However I keep coming up against 'PL/SQL: ORA-00942: table or view does not exist'..how to handle db_links using a cursor in a pl/sql block? The code is as follows:

The script has successfully created on standby db all controlfiles and also has copied 2 data files DATA01.DBF and DATA02.DBF into the correct location. Then the errors above kicked in and stopped the rman dup process.
