RMAN Duplicate Target Database For Standby From Active Database

I have failed to duplicate target db for standby from active db using spfile with the following errors:
RMAN-03009: failure of backup command on prim1 channel at 08/11/2010 05:25:09
ORA-19558: error de-allocating device
ORA-19557: device error, device type: DISK, device name:
ORA-17627: ORA-01041: internal error. hostdef extension doesn't exist
[Code].....
The script has successfully created on standby db all controlfiles and also has copied 2 data files DATA01.DBF and DATA02.DBF into the correct location. Then the errors above kicked in and stopped the rman dup process.

creating the standby database from Active database using RMAN and getting the below issue after i executed the duplicate command.

In DR site. i have to clone the database from pshysical standby database and clone db will be normal db not standby. Is it possible to do rman duplicate from active dataguard? will it support the duplicate database from active database or i have to take the rman backup of standby database and duplicate from backup piece.

I ran the script "Duplicate target database for standby" but it unable to open the database. Below are the rman scripts -

I am new to Oracle, like to get clarified on below;
1. From where can we run the RMAN Clone script?
Source DB : PRDDB HOST: PRDHOST
Destination DB: DUPDB HOST: DEVHOST
Are there any constraints on running the RMAN Script from the Source DB Host - PRDHOST?
If I am running it from PRDHOST, do I have to have the initdupdb.ora available on PRDHOST?
What are advantages and disadvantages on running the script on Source & Destination Host?

We are planning to create physical standby database for 4-node RAC primary to a 4-node RAC standby using Active database duplicate with ASM and OMF
1. while using active database duplicate, do we need to set cluster_database=FALSE in spfile clause and create standby,next change it back to TRUE at standby. Or we don't need to touch it. And also do we need to include instance_number parameter
2. We are using OMF, can we use log_file_name_convert parameter in spfile clause of duplicate. Documentation says log_file_name_convert cannot be used if standby is going to have OMF. Because we have 5 groups for each thread, which are on 5 different disk groups. When standby is created all the logs are created in only one disk group pointed by db_create_online_file_dest_1.
3. To enable force logging at primary do we need to shutdown the database?

on 11g R2 on Win 2008, I want to duplicate my target DB which is on a a remote server using RMAN backups. The destination is on local server.
I will run RMAN on local server.
In initnewdb.ora, I should add :
# Convert file names to allow for different directory structure if necessary.
#DB_FILE_NAME_CONVERT=(/u01/app/oracle/oradata/DB11G/,/u01/app/oracle/oradata/NEWSID/)
#LOG_FILE_NAME_CONVERT=(/u01/app/oracle/oradata/DB11G/,/u02/app/oracle/oradata/NEWSID/)
my questions :
1-In my case would it be :

I have issue with regards to duplication of an active (prod) database to a test database. This is my sql run by RMAN:
SPOOL MSGLOG to '/proddb/u01/app/dupe.log';
CONNECT target sys/oracle;
CONNECT auxiliary sys/oracle@MWTEST;
CONFIGURE DEFAULT DEVICE TYPE TO DISK;
RUN {
duplicate target database to MWTEST from active database;
}
CONFIGURE DEFAULT DEVICE TYPE TO SBT_TAPE;
It stops however in the middle and wouldn't continue. There is still huge space for the test database (3x the current size of prod database).

1) have taken backup at target side.
2) through SCP, transferred all the file to auxiliary side.
3) Ran the duplicate command at auxiliary side.
After running the command, i got the below error.

I like to duplicate the database DATABASEA to DATABASEB and need to be run in same server. I tried to bounce the listener & databaseb instance multiple times but no lucky.

I want to duplicate a prod database in to a dev db.I am using catalog database to connect to target and auxiliary datbase.I copied all backupsets to the local disk on Dev env in the correct path.For RMAN duplicate ,does the backuppeices need to be present on PROD filesystem as well or just DEV filesystem or both.

I try to use rman duplicate database to bring entire databse form Windows XP system to another Windows XP. I have been trying to use rmain duplicate database without success.
I failed on "startup force nomount......". The system always prompt me an error as "ORA-12514: TNS:listener does not currently know of service requested in connect descriptor" and following by TNSLSNR.exe has encountered a problem and need to be close......"
I have tried to re-install the oracle multiple times and failed at the same problem as above. So, I am thinking of using imp and exp to do the work. Is it possible? If yes, how to do it.

I am running into a strange issue with a restore of an RMAN backup into a duplicate database,.
1). I restored the control file from a recent backup.
2). restored the datafiles ( about 800)
Now when doing a recover, its giving me an error of Future recovery of a datafile marked datafile marked 350.

Previously it is working fine but today when i am trying to duplicate a database using rman not getting exactly error but the o/p is as below

I have a RUN file within a script to duplicate a database. As part of this RUN file I also run the command configure controlfile autobackup off; as part of this RUN file. However, this command has turned off backup of the control file on the AUXILLARY database (i.e. production) as well as the TARGET database (test). Is this supposed to happen?
My run file is:

I am trying to create the Standby database using RMAN.

I trying to backup archive logs using rman in standby database. Production db server is taking care by different team even I don't have any access of the production server and I am responsible only for standby server. As of now everything is working fine except database backup on standby server because standby server is not register in catalog.
