View dba_ts_quotas is giving tablespace name "USERS" where DBA_USERS showing default tablespace name "DWHODS_TBS_DATA".
I know that you can view all constraints in a table using $USER_CONSTRAINTS or $USER_INDEXES view. What i find difficult is that the information in those views is not really well presented.
I find it very hard to follow. For example, just to find out which columns are foreign keys and which tables they refer to is really tedious. Is there a simpler way to view all the constraints especially foreign keys of a table and including which table columns they refer to in the child table.
I like to see a diagramatic representaion of all the tables involved so i like to see both the parent and the child tables, which columns are related and using which FKs etc. is there an easier way to view this information?
How do i find out the information regarding the latest patch installed for ORACLE_HOME..

If given a patch number, how do i find out whether it's applied to ORACLE_HOME
While renaming the datafile.
1) ALTER TABLESPACE .... OFFLINE;
2) CHANGING THE DATAFILE NAME IN OS LEVEL;
3) ALTER TABLESPACE .... RENAME DATAFILE 'FILE_OLD' TO 'FILE_NEW';
4) ALTER TABLESPACE .... ONLINE;
In the above steps, I HAD FORGOTTON TO FOLLOW THE 2ND STEP.
At the step of 3rd, i got error message, now i am not able to change the name in OS level Also.

I can detect the CURRENT_SCHEMA with a query against the user env context, but I can't find any of the others there. Could there be an issue with these values being stored in PGA, and therefore not visible though any regular views? I did find an article that showed a query against an x$ data structure which showed something for different settings of CONSTRAINTS, but I can't find it again.

I wanted to know the checkpoint information and the interval of checkpoint for my instance.I have checked alert.log file for the same.
Is there is any other way or any view exists to get that information?
The documentation for v$database says: QUOTE V$DATABASE displays information about the database from the control file. Is it safe to assume that there will only ever be one row queried from this view?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have been implementing a script to change a lot of data in a database production.Because of this the database will be 100% dedicated to the execution of that script, in the sense that nothing else will be running in this period (the application will be stopped).
what can i do to improve performance of that execution? is there any oracle manual online for this type of problem? I do not know if it's possible, but I'm thinking of things like disabling locking mechanism (if possible I could run instead of a process many processes in parallel), disabling index growing (during the process), disabling constraints.

I am sure, nothing wrong with teh IP/virtualname, cause with just one of these in the file, they work excellent.I tried leaving line between the connection strings for each DB, without leavin lines, etc..
i am trying to install Oracle 10.10.2.0 on Windows Server 2003 standard x64 Edition Service Pack, but when i try to run the installer or open DVD it gives me below error.

1. My database runs on different server.
2. I invoked "sqlplus" from another unix box to login to the database.
3. I found that the process id (ps -ef |grep sqlplus).
4. When I execute the below mentioned query it does not display the process id that I am looking for. But the osuser, username, program and machine details are correct. How can I know the process details from the database?

I have to design a database so that the performance is optimum and joins are optimum between tables.
Requirement - I have several banks as clients globally, like HSBC, RBS, AMEX etc. Each bank operate globally, and are divided like the geographies, regions etc. For eg. HSBC is operating from US, UK, ASIA, AUSTRALIA. Each geoagraphy is further divided/childs, like, in ASIA has INDIA, PAKISTAN, SRI LANKA, CHINA. Further, it is divided, like in India, it has cities like DELHI, BOMBAY, CHENNAI etc., then further it has within Delhi - Lajpat Nagar, Rohini, Pashim Vihar etc.
As per the above scenario, I need to store addresses, phone numbers, of all the branches of all clients. Also, there is one more condition like in the above defined hierarchy, later on, a new hierarchy can be added, like In INDIA, it can further divided in States and then its local cities.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a table which contains data of all calcualted payements for a Land for a particular period i.e. for a Land 124 for the duration of Jan-2010 to Mar-2010 100 rupees rent is paid to the owner.Requirement here is that for a particular duration i.e is for Jan-2010 to Mar-2010 system calculation of rent for a land file multiple times where the table would contain history of each transaction i.e. a user can calculate for a Land 124 for duration fo Jan-2010 to Mar-2010 rent more than ten times and there would be ten records in the table but only one record out of these would be valid where the user cannot calcualte rent for Lnd 124 for Jan-2010 to Mar-2010 without updating the status of the last record in the table for the same land and duration to invlaid. I want to add this business validation through triggers as i am not able to do so through check constarinst.I want to ensure that only one record should be valid for a particular land for a particular duration since row level triggers do not allow us to query the table ion which the trigger is executing i am trying to use statement level trigger but i have a few doubts here: Incase of a Before Insert statement level trigger does the trigger have access to the data which is being inserted into that the table cause whenever a record is being inserted into a table the systen would check through the trigger that if there is a valid (payment_status is valid) payment record in the table for that same land file and same duration.If there is a valid record then the trigger would through an exception. I know you can use a row level trigger with an autonomous transaction should work wihtout giving the mutating table error issue but i wont to know if using a statement level trigger here is feasible!!
