SQL & PL/SQL :: Version Of Oracle And JDBC Running On A Remote Database?
Jul 28, 2013
How to know the version of Oracle and JDBC of remote databases that is accessing my database through DBLInk.
For example I have a database A , B database is using my database Through a dblink.Now I want to know the version of oracle and jdbc which working on B.
I have developed my PAYROLL application in forms 9i, which is successfully runnig at internet explorer version 6 but it is not running at internet explorer version 8 or later.
We are running forms 11g ( 11.1.1.3) in our production environment and we are having strange issue when we are deploying the new version of fmx on fusion middleware server ( Windows 2008). After copying/replacing the new fmx we are still running the OLDER version of form. It's happening randomly on different servers.
We are planning to upgrade a database from 9.2.0.8.0 to 10.2.0.4.0.We have a lot a PRO*C programs pre compiled using 9.2.0.8.0 (and most likely even 9.2.0.7.0) compiler.
if we could upgrade the database without having to re-compile all the programs.We have tested this approach against some of our programs. Most of them executed fine - but in 2 cases we are getting "ORA-01001 invalid cursor". I suspect, that the case is that Pre compiler version 9 is not supported against 10g databases - but I am not sure.
Would it be a better option to upgrade Pre compiler/client as the first step and the db as the second step (and would that be supported) ? We definitely don't want to upgrade both Pre compiler/Client and the Database in one goal - that would be too risky.
I ran "exp" command to take a back of Oracle Db based on user and later imported(using "imp" command) the dump into another db. Its seen that some the tables are not exported during exp command run. Can I use exp command on Oracle 11.2 version?
what version of java is supported by Oracle Database 10g and 11g. Actually i am writing a User Defined Function in Java and was asking this question to know which version of java i need to compile the source file before uploading the jar.
The problem i mentioned in my last posting "CRS installation/PRIF-10: failed to initialize the cluster registry" was due to the fact i was using Redhat Linux 9 that seems to have some missing packages. I installed White Box RH 3 and everything worked fine.
if it's possible to connect to a 10g RAC database using the jdbc java thin client. the java thin client requires an ip, and database sid. I am running a two node cluster and i have two ip's and a service name that uses TAF option.
when i am trying to connect to the database using sqldeveloper i am not able to connect to database. its giving me an error "Unsupported Oracle database version" but with plsql developer I am able to connecting.
I am using Oracle 11g version, I wanted to check if a particular function is available in the earlier version of Oracle (Say 9i). Oracle optimizer to run the query only using the features available in the 9i version?
I downloaded Oracle Database 11g Express Edition R2 to test Apex (I've never used). I want to know how to change the language of the version of Apex (integrated with Oracle Database 11g XE)? I would apex in French.
I was install windows 7 on my computer,oracle database10g and forms 10g installed successfully. I Cannot run forms on the browsers , how i can run my programs
I have oracle 10g up and running on Solaris 10, from windows I would like to connect to sql plus through windows authentication, for that I have already made sure that remote_auth = true and have created user in oracle with OPS$. But still I cannot connect.
I have the same setup but with oracle on windows server, the os authentication from windows clients works just fine.
does oracle 10g on solaris 10 supports windows os authentication?
Upgrading from 10.1.0.2 to 10.1.0.5. Enterprise Manager requires 'newest' version of Oracle JDBC drive.Downloaded what I believe to the correct file (classes12.jar). I'm unclear what to do with this, my readings have pointed me in the following direction:
1) copy to c:oracleproduct10.1.0db_1jre1.4.1in 2) extract
here is the problem...tried:
1) just clicking on it (nothing)
2) c:program filesjavajre1.6.0_03injavaw -jar classes12.jar Error: Failed to load Main-Class manfest atrribute from c:oracleproduct10.1.0db_1jre1.4.1inclasses12.jar
Is my location correct, I've been hunting everywhere..making no progress.
I want to update my table base on changes in a column of a table from remote database automatically. I just want to pick some updated column then update to my own. i have made a trigger but failed.
CREATE OR REPLACE TRIGGER TG_UPD_ID after update OF STUD_ID on STUDENT@SCHOOLDB for each row begin
update MARKS set ID_ST = :new.STUD_ID where STUDID_STUDENT = :old.IDS;
end;
Error report: ORA-02021: DDL operations are not allowed on a remote database 02021. 00000 - "DDL operations are not allowed on a remote database" *Cause: An attempt was made to use a DDL operation on a remote database.
For example, "CREATE TABLE tablename@remotedbname ...".
*Action: To alter the remote database structure, you must connect to the remote database with the appropriate privileges.
The problem is that this connection errors when I try to connect using my SQuirreL client. My developers want to connecting using the SID or the SERVICE_NAME and by using the "New Method" syntax, not the "Old Method" syntax. According to the documentation the "New Method" syntax works with the SERVICE_NAME or the SID. The "Old Method" only works with the SID.
# Host name is vmwwin7634.na.SAS.com # SID is sting2 # SERVICE_NAME is sting2.na.sas.com
PROBLEM using SID errors ==> jdbc:oracle:thin:@vmwwin7634.na.SAS.com:1521/sting2 THIS WORKS using SERVICE_NAME ==> jdbc:oracle:thin:@vmwwin7634.na.SAS.com:1521/sting2.na.sas.com
I am using SQuirreL Client version 3.4.0
# Here is the tnsnames.ora entry on the server. STING2 = (DESCRIPTION =
[code]...
# In this documentation it says, "On new syntax SERVICE may be a oracle service name or a SID."You can find this on the orafax wiki under JDBC#Thin_driver.
# I was able to connect with the "old method" using the SID only, SERVICE_NAME errors jdbc:oracle:thin:@vmwwin7634.na.SAS.com:1521:sting2.na.sas.com (SQuirreL client error, "Unexpected Error occurred attempting to open an SQL connection.") jdbc:oracle:thin:@vmwwin7634.na.SAS.com:1521:sting2 (this works)
# "New Method" jdbc:oracle:thin:@vmwwin7634.na.SAS.com:1521/sting2.na.sas.com (this works) jdbc:oracle:thin:@vmwwin7634.na.SAS.com:1521/sting2 (this errors) (SQuirreL client error, "Unexpected Error occurred attempting to open an SQL connection.")
I have 2 database . One is production and other is Integration and I have one table "emp" which is on integration server and a synonym of that table with the same name"emp" on production. On production we have a proc in which we are using "emp", but some time our integration server goes down, so is there any way to ping the integration server inside the proc and if it returns success then we will execute the rest of code of proc , otherwise it will send a mail to us saying that integration server is down.
I have a simple script which fetch data from another SQL server database.
The remote SQL Server database is accessed by oracle thru gateway, and a simple DB link is made in local database to the remote oracle datbase (which actually access the MS SQL Server)
The SQL script empties all the data in local database, and fills it with the fresh data from MS SQL server.
Problem is sometimes SQL Server is down, and i lose all the data in local database. The script runs automatically as schedualed job. I want to make my script intelligent enough to terminate the script if the other database is down.
I installed oracle 10g and developed simple software using forms 6i. Its working well as a stand alone system.
I want to share it in network. so I installed forms 6i as oracle client , copied the tnsnames.ora from the oracle installation path to forms installation path.(inside NET80/Admin folder)
When i try to connect with user name and password , it comes ORA-12203 Unable to connect to destination. I checked LSNRCTL in the database machine, it is listening.
i am trying to load data into a table in a remote database schema, and my files are residing on another remote Server, Server having the files does not have a DB installed, i just need to know that if its possible or not..
As a part of requirement need to clean up some of database objects from database. Before cleaning up need to check for dependencies with in database and also on remote database.
Is there any data dictionary in oracle which proivides information about remote dependencies.
Any other way to get a list of remote dependencies other then manual checking.
