Security :: Active Directory Authentication For Oracle 10g Database Running On Solaris?
Jul 25, 2011I have oracle 10g up and running on Solaris 10, from windows I would like to connect to sql plus through windows authentication, for that I have already made sure that remote_auth = true and have created user in oracle with OPS$. But still I cannot connect.
I have the same setup but with oracle on windows server, the os authentication from windows clients works just fine.
does oracle 10g on solaris 10 supports windows os authentication?

Jan 5, 2010i am installing oracle 11g rel2 ( o/s : hp ux 11.31 ). already we have 11g rel1 installed in the machine where oracle inventory location is /oracle/oraInventory where /oracle is ORACLE_BASE directory..

now when i install oracle 11g rel2 on the same machine, it should use the existing oraInventory..but it is prompting us to enter the new location for oraInventory during installation....but as per the naming convention, we need to keep inventory directory under /oracle/oraInventory only..
when i select oraInventory location as /oracle/oraInventory from wizard, iam getting below error:
[INS-32055] The Central Inventory is located in the Oracle base.
[INS-32035] Unable to create a new central inventory at the specified location.
should i uninstall the exisitng oracle 11g rel1 and then should i install rel2 (i.e what iam trying to install now ) ?if so, after instlaling rel2, then should i install rel1 ?

Mar 15, 2010I have the metadata of an object in one of my database table as xml. I failed to recreate the object in the other schema using metadata api. I developed a stored function to do the above job. My function doesn't throw any error as well as it doesn't create the object.

But last few days, i am trying to drop a MV, but running a long time but no result and it keeps running. not dropped also.
Bcos, db performance is good since we tried to a view using script, it is fine. Problem seems only with Materialized view.
where and how to check what is the issue?

How to resolve ORA-01078 with LRM-00109 error?
For resolving these error, you should need to replace init.ora or spfile if you have backup of same files. If you don't have backup then go to alert.log and copy all parameters in one file and save as "init.ora". Modify same init.ora with some parameters which need single quotation mark " ' " like background_dump_dest,controlfiles,db_name and "dispatchers ......)". Connect as sysdba in SQL*Plus and execute command "create spfile from pfile=" or startup pfile or startup.

I've been executing this command for a no. of times at the ORACLE_HOME directory:
