I have Oracle 11g R2 (11.2.0.1) with Oracle EM running on Solaris 10 with ZFS.When I start OEM it comes up and tells me that the listener is running but that the DB instance is down and agents are down.I know that the instance is up because I can start it manually.
Each time I start emctl, lsnrctl and DB manually everything starts running but OEM returns a failure for the DB. long as the display shows the DB not running OEM won't allow me to work in it.Instead of getting the login page I get the Database Control Page stating that "Enterprise Manager is not able to connect to the Database instance."I have tried the various emca -config dbcontrol db -repos drop and recreate but no luck.
Is there a way to uninstall/reinstall without dropping the DB?Are there control/configuration files I may hack to tell OEM the correct information?
We are planning to consolidate our Oracle Production DB into one server. We are basically a windows shop. Is it feasible to run 8 production Oracle DB in one windows server. All the DB are not really transaction intensive DB. 2 DB in the size of 300GB and others all DB falls under average size of 40GB.
I can take care of the HD slicing so Oracle does not enter into IO bottleneck. We are planning to go for external NAS or SAN for storage.
My main concern is on processor usage. The processor we are thinking about is Intel Xeon Quad Core x 2nos. Will there be a processor bottleneck or is there way in Oracle to assign processor usage(I belive there is no much tweaking options here)
- one ASM instance - X DB instances - each DB instance uses 2 or more dedicated diskgroups from the ASM instance - there is one diskgroup named FREEDISK that contains spare disks
On each DB instance you can see:
- the list and global parameters of all diskgroups using v$asm_diskgroup view - the list and parameters of all disks the instance is using with v$asm_disk view
So my question is: how (if this is possible) to know the list of (spare) disks in FREE DISK disk group?
How to configure Oracle EM with newly created Oracle Instance on Oracle 10g DB,which is Single Instance DB but not RAC ,when I start the Oracle EM it is starting the default DB which created during Oracle Server Installation.
Initial situation: Oracle 10g database single instance on Windows 2008 (datafile within NTFS partition) Final situation: same database upgraded to Oracle 11g r2 on a two nodes RAC on Windows 2008 (datafile within ASM)
In your opinion, is this the best way to achieve the job ?
1) on the two nodes install grid 11gr2, asm, rdbms 11g r2 (SE) 2) export full from 10g 3) create a new empty 11g r2 database in the RAC 11g r2 infrastructure with the same tablespace layout of 10g database 4) import full from 10g to 11g r2
I have installed oracle 10g database in the my local laptop ( Windows 7) . This laptop is in LAN. I am not able to connect from other machines in LAN. When i open sqlplus, SQL Developer from the same machine, i was able to login to the instance.
But when i want to login from the other machines in LAN. I was not able to connect. I was able to ping the server on which the database was installed from other machines. why i am not able to connect ?
Issue 1: I have rdbms version 10.1.0.4.0. There is a replicated environment with 2 nodes for oracle database and the state of the node is standby when this issue occurs. We are getting ORA-0600/ORA-07445 causing instance failure over a period of time.
Few common errors are listed below Errors in file /data1/dump/bdump/optical1_j000_7235.trc: ORA-00600: internal error code, arguments: [kglpnal_1], [0x3A80C7878], [], [], [], [], [], []
ORA-07445: exception encountered: core dump [ksuxds()+5548] [SIGSEGV] [Address not mapped to object] [0x000000148] [] [].
Issue 2: I am not able to attach a single file of txt type which is less than 2048KB.As soon as I press upload File button after browsing, it disappears.
My database is working on Oracle 10g. After installing a Oracle 11g in my PC instance went down and my database got corrupt. What are the steps I should follow to recover my Database?
I have been asked to improve the speed of our extract feeds to another team. It was using an excel file as csv created with C# reading the csv into a global temporary table and a procedure to insert rows from global table to main table one at a time.
Around 1 million rows That was taking around 25 min. After trying sqlldr and an intermediate table I managed to reduce timing to 15 sec with sqlldr and Direct Path Load. I tried all that in one of our own DEV databases. Now we want to try the approach in one of DEV databases belong to downstream group (the one we feed data). They are rather reluctant to give me access to their DEV database! I have asked them to create a new login and grant object creation (DDL) to this user. They keep saying that they are prepared to give me a role but NOT schema owner. What is the best way of enabling me to create tables somewhere and test loading times with sqlldr.
I need to do full DDL (table/proc creation) and DML on a certain schema. So my question: What is the best way of doing so.. Do I need a schema created for user to do this workI they already have a general purpose schema, can they create a role to have full DDL: rights in that schema?
I have installed an Express edition of Oracle 11 database on one host (Windows 7) and want to access to from another host (Backtrack Linux based on Debian) from SQL*PLUS Instant client.
While I managed to resolve multiple issues with shared libraries, I am still not able to run the sqlplus command as Oracle. I get the following errors:
oracle@evil:~/instantclient$ sqlplus SP2-1503: Unable to initialize Oracle call interface SP2-0152: ORACLE may not be functioning properly
I followed the installation manual by Oracle and also created Oracle user with 2 env. variables set to:
Note that I only installed SQPLUS client on Linux and there is no DB running. The version of sqlplus is 11.2.0.3.0
On different forums people advised to set other variables according to the DB installed but I have none. All I want is to run sqlplus with the IP address, SID, port and username. Is it feasible to have only SQL*PLUS client installed .
There is a Single Instance production server Oracle 9iR2 [9.2.0.8] OS HP-UX PARISC 11i v1 to RAC.
Now we want to migration this server with minimum downtime to Oracle 11gR2 [11.2.0.2] in RAC environment OS HP-UX 11i v3 Itanium DOwn time must be minimum. what will be the procedure ?
I am using oralce 10g database, because of performance hit in my database in want to generate AWR and STATSPACK reports.
I have already generated AWR report by running awrrpt.sql script.
I just wanted to know the steps to run STATSPACK reports. Will it create the same file as AWR does. Will i get much advantage after running STATSPACK reports than AWR.
I want to install oracle 11.2.0.2 single instance database on AIX 6.1, does oracle recommend separate OS user for grid infrastructure and for oracle install? how many groups I need to have for these users like oinstall, dba etc?
I have installed Weblogic Server 10.3.6 in my PC .While in installation i have chosen 'Custom' option instead of 'Typical' and Unchecked software Components 'Database Evaluation' and 'Oracle Coherence' and Installed 'Node Manager Service' then continued with Weblogic server installation .Weblogic Server installed Succesfully.
(In weblogic server home folder nodemanager.domains file also not created after weblogic server installation)
Now i started installation of Forms and Reports 11g R2 . While Configuring Instance 'Domain Creation is Failed'.
I am trying to enable password complexity in Oracle 10g by using the utlpwdmg.sql file. When I manually run this using SQL plus, I get the following result
Function created
Alter Profile Default Limit
Error at line 1 ORA-07442: function VERIFY_FUNCTION notnfound
On a test instance with Oracle 11gR2 with Enterprise Manager Database Control I try to activate the Email Notifications in Enterprise Manager, so that I can use them for monitoring.
So i configured following settings:
Under Setup -> Notification method I gave him a valid mail address with a vaild SMTP server. The test mail was send successfully.
Under Preferences -> General i gave SYS a valid mail address to receive. The execution plan i let in standard configuration, so every time at everyday i will get an email, when something happens. the test mail was send successfully too.
Now i created an own rule to test the configuration:
I went to Preferences -> Rules an add an rule. Name and description I named "test" and set "database instance". At availability I activated all checkboxed, so i should be informed when the instance goes down, comes up, getting an error, when the error is fixed, when agent is not available, when agent is available again, when there is a metric error, when the emetic error is fixed, when a blackout starts and when it ends.
Metrics, policies and jobs there wasn't defined anything in standard, so i let it so and set nothing here. I activate the checkbox for sending emails to sys and sending repeat emails every 15 minutes 3 times at all.
Now, to test this notification i logged into my testserver and killed the listener process, to see, what will happened. After 1 Hour waiting i didn't get any email, so i restarted the listener. after the listener was started my outlook was fluted by emails from the server, that the listener was down. But why i didn't get them earlier.
I checked the procedure with the database to, here i get it down by "shutdown abort" and "shutdown immediate". But i get the mails, that the database is down, when its up already. And thats to late!
When I want to use such email notifications for productive servers and someting is going wrong, for that a notifications is configured of course, I want to get the mail directly, when that happened and not, hen the problem is fixed!
For example, here an email from testing, where the listener was down, that i've get at 13:01 :
There is an issue with the 32 bit Oracle client on 64 bit windows where it cannot connect to the database throwing the error ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve the connect identifier specified.
Since all the 32 applications will have the path C:\Program Files (x86) on 64 bit windows, The PATH variable doesnt recognise (). This issue was there in the previous versions of Oracle Client. But the bug has been fixed in Oracle 10.2.0.3 32 bit client.
Oracle Client: 10.2.0.3 32 bit
Windows OS: Windows server 2008 R2 64 bit
I have referred the below document from the metalink(which states that the bug is fixed in 10.2.0.3 client).
