View 2 Replies View RelatedI had a machine with windows 8 PRO 64bit OS. I need to install oracle 11g database on it .
View 7 Replies View RelatedWe have a .NET application on windows server 2008 32bit using the stored procedures on an Oracle 10g environment. We are trying to deploy the .NET application onto a 64bit x86 Windows server 2008.
We face an error trying to install the x64 version of the Oracle 10g client on windows 2008. The error we get is Problem signature:
Problem Event Name: APPCRASH
Application Name: javaw.exe
Is the x64 version of the Oracle 10g client certified for Windows 2008? Has anyone successfully installed the 64bit version of the oracle client on win2008?
We have a workaround in place with 32 bit version of the client running with the 32 bit version of the .NET application on x64 win2008. However to maximize the infrastructure we need to use the 64 bit version or we would have to turn to MSSQL Server .
I try to install th a oracle 10gR2 database to a SuSe Linux 11.4.
I try to install to tha local machine, not to a remote host. But when I start the installation every time I get the next error message:
CODECan't connect to X11 window server using '' as the value of the DISPLAY variable.
Unable to start an interactive install session because of the following error:Can't connect to X11 window server using '' as the value of the DISPLAY variable. The DISPLAY environment variable should be set to <hostname or IP address>:<screen>, where the <screen> is usually '0.0'.
Depending on the Unix Shell, you can use one of the following commands as examples to set the DISPLAY environment variable:
- For csh: % setenv DISPLAY 192.168.1.128:0.0
- For sh, ksh and bash: $ DISPLAY=192.168.1.128:0.0; export DISPLAY
Use the following command to see what shell is being used:
echo $SHELL
Use the following command to view the current DISPLAY environment variable setting:
echo $DISPLAY
- Make sure that client users are authorized to connect to the X Server. To enable client users to access the X Server, open an xterm, dtterm or xconsole as the user that started the session and type the following command:
% xhost +
To test that the DISPLAY environment variable is set correctly, run a X11 basedprogram that comes with the native operating system such as 'xclock':
% <full path to xclock... see below>
If you are not able to run xclock successfully, please refer to your PC-X Server or OS vendor for further assistance. Typical path for 'xclock': ''
I think that I don't need the x server when I install the product to the local machine. But every time I get this message.
I need to do the following:
(1) Move my 10gR2 database from 32-bit Linux to 11gR2 64-Bit Linux (using an RMAN backup from 10gR2 restored on the 64-bit machine) then
(2) Bring up the database on 64-bit hardware and then upgrade to 11.2.0.3 (64-Bit) [Without installing the 10.2.0.3 64-Bit software]
Haven't tried restoring to 11.2.0.3 from a RMAN 10.2.0.3 backup. I was trying not to have to install the Oracle 10.2.0.3 software for 64-bit on the 64-bit machine. Was hoping to go directly to 11.2.0.3 (64-bit).
I have Windows 2008 R2 64 Bit Operating Server Installed.
Other software that are Installed :
1) Visual Studio 2010 Ultimate 32 Bit.
2) Microsoft SharePoint server 2010 64 Bit.
For my development purpose I want to install both oracle 11g client 32 bit and oracle 11g client 64 on the same machine.
Is it possible to install both 32 and 64 bit instance on the same machine.
Most of the ones I'm seeing online relate to the database, not the client. I have linux.x64_11gR2_client.zip and and trying to do runInstaller and I get up to perform prerequisite tests and it tells me that I am missing packages and that kernel parameters are wrong. I've tried to run the runfixup.sh file and get a lot of this:
./orarun.sh: 186: [: true: unexpected operator./orarun.sh: 848: [: unexpected operator./orarun.sh: 864: [: unexpected operator./orarun.sh: 882: [: unexpected operator./orarun.sh: 903: [: unexpected operator./orarun.sh: 1052: [: unexpected operator./orarun.sh: 1057: [: unexpected operator./orarun.sh: 1075: [: unexpected operator./orarun.sh: 1085: [: unexpected operator./orarun.sh: 1115: [: unexpected operator./orarun.sh: 1143: [: unexpected operator./orarun.sh: 1189: [: unexpected operator./orarun.sh: 139: [: unexpected operator./orarun.sh: 139: [: unexpected operator./orarun.sh: 1228: [: unexpected operator./orarun.sh: 1284: [: unexpected operator./orarun.sh: 1342: [: unexpected operator./orarun.sh: 1426: [: unexpected operator./orarun.sh: 1451: [: unexpected operator And many of the supposedly missing packages actually are installed. IE: make. I have make 3.81 installed but the installer insists upon make 3.80.

Recently i have installed oracle 10g.2 in my laptop under Win-7 64bit. But cannot connect oracle from Windows form [C#], Office application[Excel] and odbc. Showing error[Tns could not resolve the connect identifier specified Drivers SQLSetconnectAttr failed ]
Though I can connect oracle from toad and sqlplus and form 6i.
i installed windows-7 64bit and i try to run my program(that work's with Oracle 11g) i get this error:

I am trying to setup my environment to prepare for hands on DBA exercises from an OCM handbook for 10g -OCM:Oracle Database 10g Administrator Certified Master Exam Guide
I need access to the following files
gc_10205_part1of2.zip, gc_10205_part2of2.zip for 32 bit linux
Apparently the above along with other Grid software was once attainable from the link below but sometime between this year and the last Oracle decided to remove this and other software from public access. URL.....
I doubt Oracle will hear my plea - educational purposes only - so given I want access to the software only.
I downloaded Oracle Fusion Middleware11g Forms and Reports (ofm_frmrpts_win_11.1.2.0.0_64_disk1_1of1). When I begin to extract I am getting bogged down with a password message and that is:
File Windows-amd64 is password protected. please enter the password in the box below.
BTW- I downloaded Windows64 based forms and reports on my windows xp pro machine. I am trying to unzip them and burn it on a DVD so that I can install them on my new dell windows 7 professional laptop.
We are planning to migrate the forms application from windows to linux.
View 1 Replies View RelatedQuestion: to migrate from oracle 10gR2 in Windows to oracle 11gR2 in Linux . Steps are:
1. need to expdp all schemas/users from oracle 10gR2 in Windows,
2. then impdp each schema/user into oracle 10gR2 in Linux first,
3. then upgrade the oracle 10gR2 in Linux to oracle 11gR2 in Linux ?
4. Do I need to pre-create all the same tablespaces first in oracle 10gR2 in Linux ?
Is it correct ? or I can migrate straight all schemas/users from oracle 10gR2 in Windows to oracle 11gR2 in Linux using impdp ?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI recently got a new PC at work which is Windows 7 64 bit.
We run lots of crystal reports(1000's) that pull data from an oracle back end.
I have installed the Oracle Client 32 bit on this machine and have no problem connecting to the database and pulling back data.
However, when I use crystal to access the TNS Name it gives me the following error.
[URL]
My path variable on the PC has "C:oracleproduct10.2.0client_1BIN;".
I also tried to create and ODBC using the 32bit ODBC on the machine and that connects fine, but when you try to access the DSN from Crystal, I still get the 12154 error.
i want to configure my present Data Guard Setup with Enterprise Manager...and on the Enterprise Manager grid control page i am not seeing any Data Guard option.....i am using oracle 10gR2 and Windows XP.
How to use enterprise manager for configuring Data Guard.
I downloaded the 11G 64bit for windows and unzipped the files into one folder and ran the setup.exe as an administrator. It opened up the java screen and I chose, create and configure a database. Next screen I chose, Desktop Class, when I click next it dies. It does not show me teh next screen. I went to the appdata folder and saw this error but not sure what to do EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION (0xc0000005).

I am trying to install 10gr2 on a 32 bit RHEL 5 OS. One of the packages that's need to be installed is elfutils-libelf-devel-0 according to metalink.
Now, when I try to install it i get the following error:
error: Failed dependencies:
elfutils-libelf-devel-static-i386 = 0.137-3.el5 is needed by elfutils-libelf-devel-0.137-3.el5.i386
Now i tried to install the said dependency and i got this error:
error: Failed dependencies:
elfutils-libelf-devel-i386 = 0.137-3.el5 is needed by elfutils-libelf-devel-static-0.137-3.el5.i386
I saw a somehow similar solution in

I have to install both the packages in the same rpm command according to the link and i got the following:
[root@MCISMACAMDB Server]# rpm -ivh elfutils-libelf-devel-0.137-3.el5.i386.rpm elfutils-libelf-devel-static-0.137-3.el5.i386.rpm

The ..static package didn't seem to have installed completely. I tried checking if elfutils-libelf-devel-i386 = 0.137-3.el5 was really installed:
[root@MCISMACAMDB Server]# rpm -q elfutils-libelf-devel-0.137-3.el5.i386.rpm
package elfutils-libelf-devel-0.137-3.el5.i386.rpm is not installed
So i tried installing it again then the system prompted that it is already installed:
[root@MCISMACAMDB Server]# rpm -ivh elfutils-libelf-devel-0.137-3.el5.i386.rpm
warning: elfutils-libelf-devel-0.137-3.el5.i386.rpm: Header V3 DSA signature: NOKEY, key ID 37017186
Preparing... ########################################### [100%]
package elfutils-libelf-devel-0.137-3.el5.i386 is already installed
Did i make the right steps? Can i go on now? I don't know if what I did was correct and ok and that I should already consider that package as installed.

we have installed oracle database 11.2.0.3.0 using 12G for grid and 8G for DB. And now we want to apply the PSU 11.2.0.3.4, but found that there is not enough.
How much we need to upgrade to 11.2.0.3.4 totally?
I am using DataBase Express 11g as a development site.I have developed a Delphi GUI to run with it. (32bit). All runs as expected! My associate has a Windows 7 (64bit) machine. Express installation does not supply an ODBC driver. DataBase Express installs without problem, but it is the connectivity that is the problem
I understand that 11g(full) supplies both 32 & 64 OBDC drivers.I do not want to install the full 11g database if it can be avoided.
This is going to be more of a problem the more 64bit machines get into the workplace. Is there an alternative connection method available?
Is it possible to install 10gr2 in windows 7?
View 12 Replies View RelatedI have HP server with Windows 2008 Server R2 64bit. I installed latest 64-bit version of Oracle Database 10.2.0.4 and everything works fine and later installed the patch 10.2.0.5 (64 bits) as the Oracle maintains that with the R2 version of the system it is necessary to correct work.
Now, after uploading the patch database starts and closes after about 15 minutes - an additional log file is changed to the binary version which do not see anything.
how to solve problem? The move to Oracle 11 drops.

I am facing strange problem, I installed 9i and 11g on same machine which is running windows server 2003 service pack 2. I set ORACLE_HOME and PATH of both versions different and both are installed properly.
But when i try to create new database using oracle 9i DBCA after reaching step 8 DBCA becomes unresponsive whereas i am able to create new database using Oracle 11g DBCA. After searching the entire net i am not able to troubleshoot the problem. Moreover in both version i am able to access using CMD and i got the connectivity.
I configure the listener for both on different port but when i run oracle 9i the screen shows first connectivity of oracle 11g sql* plus after that it is going to connect to oracle 9i this is my second issue. My system RAM is 1GB total is this is also be the reason for the above problem.
