Data Base Configuration assistant for create new database not working in oracle 8.1.7 in windows server 2000 / server 2003 how can i create new database
I m using Windows Vista Business 32 bit , Oracle 10.2.0.3
while running my setup so many time i got same error each and every time Error:12560 TNS Protocol Adapter error and it shows me i attached my screen shot with my thread , and remember i already installed earlier but at that time there was no error and successfully installed, i removed the total software before installing and i also removed my environment variable and after getting this Database Configuration Assistant failure there is no service is started regarding my database.. I also tried manually but there also i got some other problem if by Database Configuration Assistant it ll b solved then it ll be good for me.
I've installed without problems Oracle 8.0.5 on WS 2003. After installation I've created 8 databases, with the utility Database Configuration Assistant (dbassist, executed by launch80.exe).
After that, the DBAssist doesn't run anymore.
I've tried EVERYTHING. And I have no success, Im stuck. And I need to create several databases.
i am installing oracle database 8.1.7 on dell server power edge 2650 first time database successfully installed but when i want to crate new database by Database Configuration Assistant it is not working for new database creation.
The database system they have has around 5000 tables. The majority of these are not used (it is an off the shelf package). What I am trying to do is get a list of all tables in the database BUT only those that contain records (not the empty tables) and then copy this to an excel spreadsheet. We use a tool called aquadata to run sql enquiry statements on.
I installed Oracle 11g client and set the ORACLE_HOME and tns_admin env variables.I installed the pl/sql developer, but unfortunately after installing , i am unable to see any database details in the drop-down list of pl/sql developer.
I am able to connect to DATABASE from SQLAssistant only when I provide string like ABOVE........If I dont mention the SERVICE, m unable to connect to DB.Now the biggest issue is with SQL Developer.....m not at all able to connect to DB using SQL Developer.
I have 3 tables in the Oracle database( emp, employee, emp1) which has following record values in it.
empidenamejob 7369, 'SMITH', 'CLERK'
I would like to list these 3 tables thru SQL/PLSQL, having the above record values combination. Also, the name of the columns could be different in all the tables i.e. name could be 'ename' in Emp table , and 'name' in Employee table. Is there way to do this in SQL or PLSQL ?
We have recently shifted our database from 10G to 11G and after the intial hickups most of the thinghs have stablised. We had changed system by Alter System command so that database does not have case sensevity problem and with that all the reports from the forams have also stabilied However some of the forms are failing with the above error ORACLE ERROR Unable to read list of values
These form are running fine with users having DBA privelege. However other users this is failing.
We have also checked that with users not having DBA privelege we are able to read the data in the table within the form also. The query in the record group is very simple
"SELECT CODE,SHORTDESC FROM GENCODES WHERE CODETYPE='BS' AND CODE <> '00'"
All these forms were fine previously when database was on 10g.
Moreover there are many other fields where list of values are there and allthose are ruing fine.
I have also checked datatype and length in query as well as fields on the form
I just want to list and group all my tables that are linked together by constraints. I just want my tables to be able to be listed together as one particular database. my tables are , CUSTOMER, ORDER_INFO, ORDER_LINE, PRODUCT. They're all linked together by way of constraint and I want to list and print them all together as one DB. HOW DO I put them all in one schema and then also list them all together and print/illustrate them as one. also, I tried to import them into their own scheme but i ran into a series of probs regaurding the .dmp file being read.
How do i list all tables from dba_tab_columns which contains both column name='id' and 'date'. I don't want to list the tables contains either 'id' or 'date'
I have been trying out the new 12c on Windows 2012 Essentials with the same type of errors. The OraDim step fails and cannot create the services. It fails a bit differently if I choose "Create New Windows User", choose a "Use Existing Windows User", or choose the Windows Built-in user.
we are looking to use oracle 11g as a log database using partitioned tables.
- The tables will have only a 3-5 columns of ~varchar(50) size - We are looking at a volumn of ~33million rows (inserts) per day.
1) Will partitioned tables be able to handle this type of volume? 2) if yes, will a Composite Partitioning (using last modified datetime as range) then subparition with range be the best choice?
if this type of volume is too high for 11g, what are some of the alternative products we can use.
I am executing a script that is deleting some parent records and the corresponding child records as I have used the "on delete cascade" with the Foreign key Constraint.
My question is that can I list the records that are being delete from all the tables i.e. both parent and child tables. Is some thing like spooling can work in this or do I have some other option with which I can see(select) all the deleted records.
I am in the task of clean up of tables. I need to find the list unused tables and procedures. Is there any way where i can find when was the last time the table queried?

I have installed Oracle virtual box on windows host and have created Oracle Linux virtual machine as guest. I have installed the database server on my host machine but rest of the things(Peoplesoft peopletools etc....) on Oracle Linux guest.Now, I am trying to installed database client on guest machine which is Linux so that I can connect to DB server running on host, but having difficulties in doing so.
, I am following the installation instruction given in the doc docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/install.112/e24322.pdf, but when I finally run command runInstaller.sh doesn't happen anything.Actually, to install other software's I just double clicked the .sh file and it automatically started the installation process on a terminal window but when I clicked runInstaller.sh to install DB client, it didn't do anything.
Also, when I run the same command runInstaller.sh from command line after navigating to the directory where this file is present, It throws me error saying "no command found".By the way, why the steps given in doc are so complex, I wish If I could just double click runInstaller.sh just like others and it start the installation process.
I have installed oracle 10g software and created Database on RHEL 4. when i run the run.sql its successively done but im not getting tables. whats the prob.
I can do any sql commands against the schema I want (PSUSYS) with my username(SCHWAN) in the sql window, but when I want to export a table(created with a different schema) no tables are listed in the export window. This does work for my coworkers with the same access.
At one time this used to work so I'm wondering if it is a parameter that I inadvertently changed.
I am trying to pass a list of names from one table as a variable to another table and trying to find the Highest level they exist at in the hierarchy. I am having some troubles with the variable and need some guidence and also if this should be a procedure or not.

I have installed Oracle 10gR2 database server recently in the Windows box. The database works fine. But I am unable to connect through the Internet Explorer. I found that the service for the isqlplus is not available. Do I need to run any script for creating the service?

when trying to insert Chinese character using the insert command below

I am getting the value when selecting the same record using the select command
select a.part_nbr,a.part_desc,a.cust_name from product a where a.part_nbr='322341'322341¿test
When I running this command on TOAD
select a.rowid,a.part_nbr,a.part_desc,a.cust_name from product a where a.part_nbr='322341'
and manually editing/inserting '功' character in output from select command above. After that I am able to get the same Chinese character when I am running select next time.
