how to link my text field in the oracle form with the table..i created this form with text field in it,and i also created the tables with its constraint, but when i enter the data in the text field it doesn't apply to the constraint and it is also not inserted in the tables ,how to make the form commit to the database?

the following problem. am using oracle forms 6i on windows 2003 server.
I have two tables Loan and deduction
Loan(
loan_number number(5)unique not null,
loan_name varchar(15)not null,
loan_type varchar(15)not null,
actual_amount number(10)not null,
[Code]....
Both have loan_number columns as the primary key.
I created two separate forms using loan table and Deduction table.
Also according to requirement, when commiting in the loan form ,if 'loan_purpose' is 'PERSONAL' THEN deduction form SHOULD BE OPENED.
I MANAGED TO DO ALL OF THE ABOVE .
WHAT I WANT IS when deduction form pops up, it should have a matching loan_number as in loan form What shall I do to achieve this???.

i have two databases and created the link between them. I can easily query the data but when i need to update my local records from the remote its showing an error

I'm a APEX newbie using APEX 4.1. I have a table with engineering drawing information (drawing number, title, revision, etc.) and another table with the corresponding drawing files (pdfs stored as blobs where the filename is the drawing number with a pdf extension). The user wants to search for a particular drawing by drawing number from the drawing info table and if the drawing number exists in the drawing files table the drawing number will also be a download link for the file, if the drawing number doesn't exist in the drawing files table than the drawing number will display as plain text (not as a download link).

I cann't commit form when new instance form with form status is "NEW".
And then i call:
Text_Item := WebUtil_File.File_Selection_Dialog('', '', 'Excel 2003|*.xls|Excel 2010|*.xlsx|All File|*.*', 'Select a file to Import', Open_File, True);
Form status change to "QUERY"
And then i click button "Import Data" from excel file to Data Block. Now form status change to "CHANGED". But i cannot call "Commit_Form" built-in to insert data to database oracle 10g.

My scenario is I need to insert into History table when a record is been updated into a tabular form(insert the updated record along with the additional columns Action_by,Action_type(Like Update or delete) and Action Date Into History table i.e History table contains all the records as the main table which is been visible in tabular form along with these additional columns ...Action_by,action_type and action_date.
So now i dont want to create a befor/after update trigger on base table rather i would like to create a generic procedure which will insert the updated record into history table taking the page alias and pade ID as the parameters(GENERIC procedure is nothing but whcih applies to all the tabular forms(Tables) contained int he application ).

i would like to import a table from another database by using database link.

i created the public database link as system user
it gave error like

i m doin simple application, in which all data is retrieving from table in to form(all the
field are textbox and button on form) ename,dept,salary,dept_id etc.
i took one textbox field on form which is non table field
(no db field bt linked to another table..via LOV m retrieving value into this textbox which suppose dept_id ) and now after selecting one record from list box into textbox which is non table field.... after immdiately selecting i want to update one field into db field which all other form field contains...
so how to do this??which trigger i hav to use for this?

I have a contact table that will be used for more than one entity (Customers, Sites, Suppliers, etc.) Using APEX, when we define the master-detail, we need to add a FK to the Detail table -- otherwise the Master-Detail Forms can not be implemented.
I am looking for a way to defined/implemented tables so that I can utilize the same table (Contacts) for more than one Master-details relationship.

how to make a form with report and an insert form in the same page, these two forms are related to the same table. Our customer wants a user can add new row to the table in a form and see all of rows created by this user in a report, this report should provide edit link as well. the problem is: whenever I inserted a new row or edit a row or delete a row, and submitted, and return to this page, all of hidden items lost their values, so report is blank, and some display only items also lost their values.

I have a requirement of pulling the data from a field in horizontal form of Advanced Supply Chain Planning responsibility(ASCP). When I go into help-> Diagnostics, it shows the block name of the form as 'Horizontal Plan' and field name as 'Pivot Table'. Not pretty sure on how to pull the data source into horizontal form with the info I have.

I thought this was the easy bit in APEX when you just create a form based on a table, with some validations etc. and use it to insert,update data. However on inserting the first record, I get the following error:
is_internal_error: false
ora_sqlcode: 100
ora_sqlerrm: ORA-01403: no data found
[Code]....
The form is based on a table with a primary key and the primary key is populated from an APEX-generated sequence.
I tried recreating the form, but still no good and now I get the no data error even when clicking "RUN" at page level, so the page does not even display.

We use Apex 4.2 with Apex Listener. Recently we patched apex to 4.2.2 and now when we try to create a form based on a table, after selecting the schema and table we get the following error: "You do not have access to the schema that you are importing.
Import failed" I've seen some posts regarding this error but nothing that works with my current situation. The database grants are in place.

I have FORM_A calling FORM_B: Call_form('FORM_B',...). On form_B I am updating a Record and when I close Form_B and the focus goes back to Form_A, I need to Automatically Reload Form_A to reflect the changes that were made on Form_B.

I have a form that the user has to enter a time of an event.
The time entered will most likely be in the past and NOT the current time.
What is the best way to set up a form and a database table for time entry only (exclude the date)?
I have tried datetime on the form with format HH12:MM PM and date on the database.
I have also tried the same with a timestamp on the database.
The time always appears to get entered correctly. However, the time is always stored as AM regardless of what is specified by the user.

I use APEX 4.2.0. In Tabular form, I have column of Select list type. This list has too many values and the end user must choose all these values along the tabular form rows. In other words, If the LOV consists of X, Y , Z, The End user should add three rows and choose a unique value for each row.
The problem is : This LOV is supposed to have too many values. What comes to mind is:
1- Whenever the end user picks a value, this value should disappear from the LOV of the second row ? But I have no clue how to do it?
OR
2- Whenever the end use picks a value, I should notify him/her about the remaining values that he should pick . But I have no clue how to do it ?
At the end the purpose is to make the user aware that he still has some rows to add ( values to choose ... )
