Forms :: Limit Number Of Detail Records For Every Parent Record To 8?

1. My detail form has part number as one of the fields and I want to make sure the user can enter a part number only once. How can I make sure user cannot enter it more than once?
2. I want to limit number of detail records for every parent record to 8. How can I accomplish this?
3. I have approval flags at both master and detail. If the user tries to approve the master with some/all detail records unapproved, system should display error message and make the user approve the detail before approving the master.
Updated to Add: In a last ditch search, I found my answer with ROWNUM <= 1 in the Where clause. It works and I can go from there with what I want to do.
I have a website that pulls similar information from multiple queries using a Union-based query. I want to only pull 1 record from one section, two from another, and 5 from the third. I've so far found LIMIT but haven't been able to get it to work in that way. Is it possible to limit each query in the union as I am looking to do?

I have create Master block and a Detail block.When i am clicking on the Master block, then details records are displaying.But when i m moving from 1st record of detail block to 2nd record of master block, then detail block's data is not not displaying.It just firing the validation of detail block's first field.
when from Detail block (Cursor on the field Mapping code field) clicking on the 2nd records i.e Ord.No. =2 , at that time validation is getting fired.)
What i really wants that if click on the 2nd record of Master, automatically records should display in detail block.
I have master detail block just consider Forms A as a master and Forms B as a Detail,when my cursor is in form A i try to save the record, it is saved Form A and putting Form B data as null, i have to put a validation to stop this activity, i have to inform the user "Provide values for form B text item",

Im Getting error message and navigation got stopped in last item of form A itself,i need to show error message and cursor control should move to first item of form -B which trigger i have to use for this.
My form consist two datablock cust_mstr,cust_dtls, each customer code consists two or three contact details records, when i delete the single detail record instead of deleting single record it deletes all the details records from cust_detail table.

I have 2 non data base blocks, these 2 blocks act like master details but there is no relation. In header block i have 2 fields called "Product name" and "Product Type"
in detail block having 2 tab pages one having multi record(20 item number and name displayed on it) another one having single record but it has around 20 image items displayed on it.
My requirement is once i enter the product name and then if i press either "key tab" or "Key Enter" or "Mouse Move" from product name field into product type field then detail record should be populated automatically without using go_block and go_item.
I'm having a multi-record detail block in my form and after querying the form, when I scroll through the scroll bar, it is hanging (freezing) just before reaching the last record.
I have noticed that it never hangs if I use arrow keys to scroll between the records. It only hangs when I use scroll bar or page down key.
Regardless of the number of records fetched, it only hangs when I click the scroll bar (or press page down key) to fetch the last record.
It happens to all my custom forms and I'm developing this for Oracle EBS Apps 11.5.10.2. Oracle JInitiator Version is 1.3.1.21 and my form builder is Forms 6.0.8.28.0.

WHEN SELECTING THE ITEM THROUGH LOV IT EXECUTES ALL VALUES BUT AFTER CHANGING ANY DATAS THEN NEW RECORD IS CREATED IN THE MASTER TABLE AND NO CHANGES OCCURED TO THE CHANGED RECORD.

Now my clients wants to show the serial number along with each record while feeding the data (this includes when insert, editing, deleting / clearing records) he wants to see the serial number as in MS access / MS techniques.

A particular THEAD value may have 0, 1 or many TDETL corresponding values.below is a sample data file. When the position 21 in the TTAIL has a value of 1 or 2, then we know that there is a promo or discount applicable to the ITEM (THEAD).
What I want to acheive is to accurately reflect a TDETL to its corresponding THEAD, as both THEAD and TDETL are loaded into separate tables. How can we have the 2 records correlated?
I have to date field in detail part of master detail Form. In detail part i have field of From_date and To_date. I want when i go to next record in detail part ,,,from date is initiaze by previous to date+1....eg.like

I have Attached calender to two feild...and calender is the different block... In Detail block when_record_instance i handled the;; From date=previous to-date +1;
but when i double click the feild calender is open and when_new_record trigger is fired agian. calender called ...the when_new_record is not callled .....

The size limit for PL/SQL stored database objects such as subprograms, triggers, and packages is the size of the Descriptive Intermediate Attributed Notation for Ada (DIANA) code in the shared pool in bytes. The Linux and UNIX limit on the size of the flattened DIANA/code size is 64K but the limit might be 32K on desktop platforms.
The most closely related number that a user can access is the PARSED_SIZE in the static data dictionary view *_OBJECT_SIZE. That gives the size of the DIANA in bytes as stored in the SYS.IDL_xxx$ tables. This is not the size in the shared pool. The size of the DIANA part of PL/SQL code (used during compilation) is significantly larger in the shared pool than it is in the system table.
is there any recommendation on limit of number of subprograms should exist in a package exist, If there is any guidelines/recommendation exist for these.
I want to delete records from parent table which are less than 2 years. Before deleting records from parent table we have to delete records from child table. How can we delete those records. I don't want to use ON DELETE CASCADE.
I have to optimize a batch job which returns > 1 lakh records . I have a commit limit being passed . I am planning to divide the cursor records for processing as follows. If the cursor suppose returns 1000 rows and the commit limit passed is 200 , then i want to fetch 200 records first , bulk collect them into associative arrays and then bulk insert into target table.
After this is done, i will fetch the next 200 records from the cursor and repeat the processing. I would like to know how i can divide the cursor records, and fetch "limit" number of records at a time and also be able to go to the next 200 recs of the cursor next time.
What is the limit on number of partitions on a table.on many forums , 1024k-1 is given the maximum limit.But Exactly , I am not able to understand this 1024k-1.

Output in above case would be 3 as for 1 there's one record with status as 'N' and for 2 there's no child record. I am on 10g.
I want to delete Master / Detail Data through cursor between date 01-02-2010 till 10-02-2010. Problem is in Detail I dont have date column in detail. But I have to delete Master and Detail record with desire date. I have made a cursor but it delete only detail record i want to delete master record too.

I have datablock 'EMP', it's multi record block. I have a button 'CREATE', I have 'commit_form' in 'When button pressed' trigger, to commit records. It's working fine.
Now, i have a check box in the same block, i want to insert records which are checked only.

I'm using Oracle forms 10g. In the form i have this multiple records under one block. After performing the query, all records are cannot be updated. And i have this buttons at the right side that will enable the certain item that can only be updated. My problem is i cannot enable the item in the first record,instead of first record all records in that item was enable.
In form i call a record from database table through execute_query. i have lov on ITEM_NO
i want to display on that form, no. of records of ITEM_NO which i select from the list. like if i have 10 records with item_no which i select from list is must show 1/10.
if i press the down arrow it should show next record of the same item_no.
