I am creating one application in oracle forms in which one push button is dere for dept_list and textbox for displaying dept_name, after clicking button it shows list of dept_id and dept_name in listbox. and after selecting any one value from it adding into textbox of dept_name and update it. How to do this in oracle forms 6i?

For that i have created a form which will display the column names and select option. When user clicks on query, the form will display the selected columns in a block. After going thru if required the user can download it to excel.
As of now I do not have filtering option. For this I thought of creating view based on the selection and then fetch records from the view and display it in form.
To achieve this I would like to know How I create or replace a view dynamically based on values selected. I remember doing this sort of thing long back, but could not recollect it.
I am creating the Dynamic list but when i am compiling the form it gives the compilation error "No list elements defined for the list item".
I can eliminate it by entering the dummy list element but this dummy value will be displayed at form run time.

I have multi record block and a select checkbox in that block. My requirement is whenever I select any checkbox all other checkboxes should get deselected except the one which I have selected just now.
Example: I started from first item (checkbox).
I select first checkbox and when I will select second checkbox, then 2nd should get checked but all other checkboxes should get unchecked.
I have 2 blocks, namely addsubject3rd and chosensubjects. I'm copying the selected records(this comes with checkboxes) from the 1st block to the second block. But what happened is that it copied all the records that are on the addsubject3rd. How can I copy only selected records(checkboxes) from addsubject3rd block to chosensubjects blocks?

I want to check that the user has selected a valid date .. if not an error message will be displayed, for example: 31-02-2013: will be rejected

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have one form where I have let's say 2 items that I want to manage. One is a List Item and the other Text Item. Both are based on one table. The List Item is not updatable (Update Allowed is set to NO) and there I have some types of houses for example (T -> tall house, B -> Big house, S -> Small house it's not important so much) and the Text Item is for counting the types for example we have 4 houses of type T and if we add another one in the textItem we will see 5, so it's not counter for all houses but it counts types of houses and that item is not updatable nor insertable (Update allowed and Insert allowed are set to NO) so it's only purpose is just to show how many hauses we have of particular type and automatically increases the number if we insert new house. Beside this two items I have another Items that conatin some informations about the house (How many flats, doors, windows, and so on..). you've got the picture of my form and table.
Now I want to add one button with trigger WHEN-BUTTON-PRESSED that will do this. If I want to change the type of the house after I inserted it and save it in the table, I have to just change the type in the List Item (choose another type) and press the button to save the same house with the same properties I would say (How many flats, doors, windows, and so on..) but with another type. First when I press the button it must ask me if I am sure that I want to make that change (I'll make an allert fot that) and if I press OK or Yes my house will be saved just with the different type and the previous house with the previous type must be erased. And in the textItem 'the counter', the number of the new type must encrease for one and the previous type must decrease for one.
I hope you understand what I want to do and all I need is that trigger to manage this problem of mine. I know it's possible to do but I am quite new in DB programming and I am not very good with programming in PL/SQL.
I currently have a problem where I have two date fields with time stamps. The only bit i am currently interested in in these fields is the time factor. When i display them in their field they have a format of HH24:MI .
I have a start time and end time as well as a duration and duration type. What I am trying to do is the following: when the user inputs the start time, along with the duration say 1 for example and the duration type of say HRS for example I would like to have the end_datetime default to 1 HR from the current start time. This is the code I use on a when validate item trigger to acheive this:

I have a date field in my form (date.start_time) in which I want to reference in a library and add 5 mins to the time (since its in the lib I am coding this I need to use name_in ). My current code is:

Our system stores images on the unix filesystem. We scan full page images.
Our image specs are:
black and white: tiff, group4 compression, 300dpi. so files are about 40-80k compressed
photograpshs/gray scale: jpeg/jpeg compression 256 gray scale. Some images can be 2megs...but most of them are about 400-700k
We build a demo with forms10G/application server 1 year ago and performance was really bad. Took about 10-15 seconds to generate a report with 1 image of it...compared to about 1-2 secs using forms 6i. We just installed weblogic 11G (10.3.5) with forms 11gr2. I'm guessing performance will still be an issue but we will still be testing it.
Our users currently use nfs to access images on the unix server. So that would not changed.
- read_image from filesystem (c: unc path //server/images/.../1.jpeg)
- zoom in, zoom out (having vertical/hori scroll bars to move around...or best would be panning)
- save_image on filesystem
- fit to window/cancas
- always keeping aspect ratio
nice to have options, but not needed at this time
- save in blobs
- editing capabilities (mostly just select an area to delete, like black borders...some speckles here and there)
I need to trap user input by checking if the node in my tree is selected (higlighted) or not. When I test using SYSTEM.TRIGGER_NODE_SELECTED, whether I click the node to select (the node is highlighted) OR I click the plus (+) sign to expand the node, the function both retunrs TRUE.
I don't the user to add node when the current node is not selected and highlighted.

So Notes database field is updated on Save / Apply changes button being pressed.But would really like any text added / appended to the Notes field to be prefixed by userid and date / timestamp.
Is it possible via dynamic actions or Javascript to have any new text added / typed to be auto prefixed as per above.
Would only want the first key press in the filed to trigger the auto-prefix and if added text was deleted then the auto prefix to be deleted as well ?? If user doesn't press Save / Apply changes obviously want to leave existing Notes as is.
I am on Oracle 11.2.0.3 on Linux and have implemented Oracle Text.I created Oracle Text indexes with default setting. However in an oracle white paper I read that the default setting may not be right. Here is the excerpt from the white paper by Roger Ford:URL....(Part of this white paper below....)Index Memory.
As mentioned above, cached $I entries are flushed to disk each time the indexing memory is exhausted. The default index memory at installation is a mere 12MB, which is very low. Users can specify up to 50MB at index creation time, but this is still pretty low. This would be done by a CREATE INDEX statement something like: CREATE INDEX myindex ON mytable(mycol) INDEXTYPE IS ctxsys.context PARAMETERS ('index memory 50M'); Allow index memory settings above 50MB, the CTXSYS user must first increase the value of the MAX_INDEX_MEMORY parameter, like this: begin ctx_ adm. set_ parameter('max_index_memory', '500M'); end; The setting for index memory should never be so high as to cause paging, as this will have a serious effect on indexing speed. On smaller dedicated systems, it is sometimes advantageous to temporarily decrease the amount of memory consumed by the Oracle SGA (for example by decreasing DB_CACHE_SIZE and/or SHARED_POOL_SIZE) during the index creation process.

1) To apply this procedure (ctx_adm.set_parameter) required me to login as CTXSYS user. Is that right? or can it be avoided and be done from the application schema? This user CTXSYS is locked by default and I had to unlock it. Is that ok to do in production?
2) What is the value that I should use for the max_index_memory should it be 500 mb - my SGA is 2 GB in Dev/ QA and 3GB in production. Also in the index creation what is the value I should set for index memory parameter - I had left that at default but how should I change now? Should it be 50MB as shown in example above?
3) The white paper also refer to rebuilding an index at some interval like once in a month: ALTER INDEX DR$index_name$X REBUILD ONLINE; We are on Oracle 11g and the white paper was written in 2003.
