Could an increase on the redo log file sizes solve this problem? Unfortunately I do not have a test platform, where I could have tested this.

When I try to update a date column with this:
UPDATE
event_request
SET
REQ_EVENT_DATE = TO_CHAR(REQ_EVENT_DATE - INTERVAL '1' HOUR, 'yyyy-mm-dd hh24:mi')
WHERE
eventID=123
Oracle returns this error:
ERROR at line 4:ORA-01861: literal does not match format string
where line 4 is REQ_EVENT_DATE = TO_CHAR(REQ_EVENT_DATE - INTERVAL '1' HOUR, 'yyyy-mm-dd hh24:mi').The REQ_EVENT_DATE field was originally populated with this stripped down query:
$date = '2007-12-25 08:35'; INSERT INTO (REQ_EVENT_DATE) VALUES (to_date('$date', 'yyyy-mm-dd hh24:mi'));
So - what is wrong with the UPDATE query?

We have standby dataguard set up namely CRMSTDY of 3 node RAC clusterware. It has been observed that log sequence number 1 is generated since last 4 days on standby database. There is nothing more information in alert_standby.log file and the same file is visible when we checked with ASMCMD utility. Check the attached print sceen and suggest. Below mentioned system information.
DB : Release 10.2.0.4.0

As stated in "Determining which Oracle database session is being used by a specific Siebel user session [ID 863771.1]":
On the Oracle database side, you can query the V$SESSION table (make sure you are logged in as the tableowner) using the following WHERE clause format:
WHERE PROCESS='XXXX:YYYY'
XXXX = Server PID
YYYY = Thread ID
So querying v$session, sessions opened by windows clients have in the PROCESS column values like "12345:876", where 12345=process id and 876=thread id.
Our application servers are installed in AIX, which is also multithreaded, but in the PROCESS column only process id is stored. Is there any way to find thread id?

I encountered error ORA-00338 while performing incomplete database recovery:
ORA-00283: recovery session canceled due to errors
ORA-00338: log 3 of thread 1 is more recent than control file
ORA-00312: online log 3 thread 1: '+DG_REDO/dbase/onlinelog/group_3.267.814820795'
Recovery Manager complete.
I performed this recovery on oracle 10g, ASM database.
1. What are possible causes behind this error ORA-00338 ?
2. This error occurs at the start of media recovery, while RMAN is applying archived logs. So does RMAN apply "online REDO" logs after applying "archived" logs required for recovery or before them ?
3. How does rman come to know that online log 3 is more recent than control file ? How can I get scn of online log & control file in my environment ?
Following are few details related to checkpoint scn/change# info. I found in my environment..Before recovery:

Our organization has recently decided to go for storage metro cluster solution for disaster recovery. In a Data guard environment, we normally calculate how much archive log is generating and based on that value we calculate the required bandwidth.
For storage metro cluster, we need to find how much block is changing in our primary database, and the same rate of change would apply on DR cluster. Now, i need to give the assumption how much changing is happening in my system. How to calculate the change.

CREATE TABLE EMP_MASTER(ST_CODE NUMBER,EMP_CODE NUMBER);We would like to insert records in such a way that there are 10 st_codes and for each st_code we need to insert 100 records.
FOR EX : for st_code 1 we need to have emp_code from 1 to 100 and then we need to insert st_code 2 and the emp_code must be from 101 to 200 and so on...... It must go in this way till we have st_code 10 and hope the emp_code will be in the range of 901 to 1000.
We need some thing similar to proc or PL/SQL block(declare begin..... end)

I have query in that query i should display the number of row. I have tried to select the row num but when i use it the data will be duplicated. I have found something that related to use temporary table, or subquery but all of them will not work because the query depends on many tables and if i use temporary table filling the table and then reading from it will take too long time.
