Application Express :: Format Mask For Percent Sign
May 16, 2013
Is there no format mask for Percent sign. My customer is creating a Computed field and wants to have the percent sign added to the result. (like a dollar sign). I saw some posts about adding jQuery..??? Is this going to be added to the APEX code some day?
Just like the Money format, FML999G999G999G999G990D00, where did FML come from? it translates to a dollar sign. Isn't there something that could translate to a percent sign
990D000PCT 75.328%

By default number that "starts" with a leading zero with decimals - zero is removed. 0.49 => .49
I'm adding for e.g. the mask "FM990D0999". 0.49 => 0.49
Ok this is fixed.But if I have an integer without decimal. 1 => 1.0
If I change the mask to FM990D9999 1=> 1.
I would like to have a zero leading when it's 0.49 but also no decimal when it's an integer => 1

In 10G forms the date format mask in all the items in forms are removed.
As the nls_date_format in database is (dd-mon-rr) the same is expected to come in Oracle 10G forms. Now it is coming as (DD-MON-YYYY) in 10G forms. I tried looking into the nls_session_date format in runtime in forms it is showing as (dd-mon-rr) but in item it displays as(DD-MON-YYYY). How will i display the date format set in the DB or were is the setting done in Oracle 10G forms.

I want to add format mask on my field...
my field datatype is char in forms and in database VARCHAR2(30) and I want to add format mask as follows
12345-1234567-1
in format mask of this field property I give it to format mast like as
FMAAAAA"-"AAAAAAA"-"A
when I run the form and when I write and exit from this field then it returns the error.
FRM-40209: Field must be of form FMAAAAA"-"AAAAAAA"-"A
EDIT by VK: Seems your CAPS lock is on or the Shift is stuck.

I have one NUMBER field with size 15. I have set format mask 999,999,999,999,999 on this field. This is formatting the data I am entering in that field. But the problem is if I enter a value in that field and moves to another field. And if I want to edit the previous field again I have to keep the cursor at the left end of the value.
For example I enter 3,000 in the field. If I want to edit the field again, I have to edit it from left like 1,233,000. I cannot edit it at the end(like 3,000,123).
Even I can click anywhere in that field where I have the format mask. check the screen shot in the attachment. In the red square, you can find a value with space in between.

This is my query
select to_char(exp_Date,'Mon-YYYY') dt, count(*) from exp_main
where exp_type like 'Income%Photo%'
group by to_char(exp_Date,'Mon-YYYY')
order by exp_date
When I run this I get :not a GROUP BY expression
If I remove the order by, it works fine.
Is there a way to order by since the output of the query is character-sorted.
I did search online most have suggested to use order by column_name. But does not work for me.

I've used custom written statistics gathering scripts that by default gather statistics on large tables with a small estimate percentage and FOR ALL COLUMNS SIZE 1. They allow the estimate percentage to be set higher on individual tables and allow me to choose individual columns to have histograms with the maximum number of buckets. The nice thing about this approach was that the statistics ran very efficiently by default and they could be dialed up as needed to tune individual queries. But, with 11g you can set preferences at the table level so that the automatic stats job or even a manual run of gather_table_stats will use your settings. Also, there is some special sampling algorithm associated with auto_sample_size that you miss out on if you manually set the estimate percentage. So, I could change my approach to query tuning and statistics gathering to use AUTO_SAMPLE_SIZE and FOR ALL COLUMNS SIZE AUTO by default and then override these if needed to tune a query or if needed to make the statistics run in an acceptable length of time. I work in an largish company with a team of about 10 DBAs and a bunch of developers and over 100 Oracle databases so we can't really carefully keep track of each system. Having the defaults be less resource intensive saves me the grief of having stats jobs run too long, but it requires intervention when a query needs to be tuned. Also, with my custom scripts I get a lot of hassles from people wanting to know why I'm not using the Oracle default settings so that is a negative. But I've seen the default settings, even on 11.2, run much too long on large tables. Typically our systems start small and then data grows and grows until things start breaking so the auto stats may seem fine at first, but eventually they will start running too long. Also, when the stats jobs run forever or with the automatic jobs don't finish in the window I get complaints about the stats taking too long or not being updated. So, either direction has its pros and cons as far as I can tell.

Apex 3.2 I have a field called P14_START_DATE.The display as type is Date Picker (DD.MM.YYYY). Now if the user uses the pop up calendar, the field is populated with eg 07.12.2013. I have 2 standard validations, not null and item specified is a valid date. If the user decides to type in the date, they can use a different format, eg 07/12/2013, which I do not want to happen.How can I validate the field, so they get an error if they do not use format dd.mm.yyyy.

RE: Partial install of SSO leaves orphaned instances.
Background: Lost connection to Linux system while attempting SSO install. During reinstall installer states instance name already in use - suggests using different name.
Using deconfig.pl tool (user: cn=orcladmin) to remove SSO configuration, but error encountered. Reason: incorrect SYS password. Note: Can access db using SYS password with no problem.
Question: Does deconfig.pl completely remove SSO configuration? If not, what other steps are required to completely remove SSO?

I have following table: tab1
id configured_size current_size percentage
1 500 100 20
2 300 100 33
... ... ...
When I launch select * from tab1 I get :
id configured_size current_size percentage
1 500 100 20
2 300 100 33
... ... ...
My question is is there any way how to edit the abovementioned select to get something like :
id configured_size current_size percentage
java_eml 500 100 20%
java_hdl 300 100 33%
... ... ...
I want to append two things:
sign of % in row percentage
when id =1 then in output have java_eml
when id =2 then in output have java_hdl
The problem is I cant update the table (not sufficient rights) so is there any way how to adapt that output?

The below query is taken from the procedure
SELECT l_stafnum = stafnum,
category,
duty,
date,
signon,
signoff,
l_rest = rest,
valid,
FROM SESSION.valid_pf
WHERE invalid != 'I'
In the above query has set of data which each staff may have more than one duty.
For example
stafnum categoy duty date signon signoff rest valid
232 M a/c 2/3/12 5:00 8:00 12:00 I
232 M Sup 2/3/12 10:00 13:00 8:00 I
111 M Clen 2/3/12 9:00 12:00 12:00 I
232 M Sw 2/3/12 15:00 20:00 12:00 I
111 M Wp 2/3/12 10:00 14:00 06:00 I
121 M a/c 2/3/12 5:00 8:00 12:00 I
The select query will retrieve the value which mentioned this example.Now, First I need to take how many duty has been allocated for each stafnumber.
232 staff allocated to three duty (a/c,sup,sw) Then need to compare signoff value for first row addition of rest value for the same row i.e, i = 08:00+1200
Then need to compare value of signon for the same staff 232 for the second row which is 10:00 if (i>10:00) then valid;
how I can take same staff number and find it how many duty the staff has.And how to take sign off and rest field value of first row, for the same staff then compare those value with the same staff number second row signon value.

If the temp space left is 0%, i.e. all temp space used up, is it possible to make new DB connection ( can new users still connect to the DB)?
Or re-phrasing the question... How much of temp space (if at all ) is required for a new user to login to DB? Like SORT_AREA_SIZE in PGA. So, as memory sort area is already used ( Temp space is 100% full), can DB make more new connections?
