Server Administration :: USERS Tablespace Reached 96 Percent After Manual DB Creation?
Mar 14, 2011
I created manually a database in 10g, after succesfully creating the dB, I created a single user re: LAMS. Now, I noticed that my USERS tablespace is currently at a 99.96% usage:
SQL> @check_space_used.sql
Monday, March 14, 2011 2:46:22 PM SGT
The DB was created but when i log in again, it is looking for the pfile in the another DB's location rather than from "%ORACLE_HOME%DATABASE". Where i missed out to create new oracle_home folder?
i am creating database manually in oracle 9i os version ibm-aix5.3 it showing following error
CREATE DATABASE "varathu" * ERROR at line 1: ORA-01501: CREATE DATABASE failed ORA-00200: controlfile could not be created ORA-00202: controlfile: '/backup/varathu/control01.ctl' ORA-27040: skgfrcre: create error, unable to create file IBM AIX RISC System/6000 Error: 13: Permission denied
i'm facing a problem while i'm inserting millions of record from table to table that undo tablespace reach 100% full and execution aborted. , how can free the undo tablespace ??? many of extendes are offline. will it flush automatically ??? or what i should do
i have a tablespace which contains 121 datafile(max limit reached) as a dba what we have to do?
creating a new tablespace with a datafile and assign the users to the current tablespace which i created now.iif the above process is correct, after some time the tablespace which was filled up got freed up.now can i give the access to the users previous (i.e. freed up tablespace) and current tablespaces
Problem Description: There are five range partitioned tables which are partitioned by date, designed by previous DBA.Four tables are in one tablespace and one more table is in another tablespace. For every three months there are two tablespaces are created autamatically in new names for future dates. There is no scheduled job for this. How they are created?.This is our question.
How to import dump into specific tablespace instead of default tablespace users.
I want to import my dump file to newly created tablespace ,so how can i do that . I have created new user called cvm and while creating it i mentioned default tablespace to newly created tablespace . But when i try to import my dumo file it goes to users tablespace .
If the temp space left is 0%, i.e. all temp space used up, is it possible to make new DB connection ( can new users still connect to the DB)?
Or re-phrasing the question... How much of temp space (if at all ) is required for a new user to login to DB? Like SORT_AREA_SIZE in PGA. So, as memory sort area is already used ( Temp space is 100% full), can DB make more new connections?
We have a 2 node RAC installation on IBM AIX 5.3 with Oracle Standard Edition. We need to create a manual standby database (becoz Standard Edition does not allow Dataguard confign). Can we do this on a different platform (eg: Linux/Windows). This is to make use of existing servers for the standby environment.
while importing data i got this error in my log file.and i cannot import my data successfuly
in my log file error i found like this
ORA-01658: unable to create INITIAL extent for segment in tablespace USERS IMP-00017: following statement failed with ORACLE error 1658: IMP-00003: ORACLE error 1658 encountered ORA-01658: unable to create INITIAL extent for segment in tablespace USERS IMP-00017: following statement failed with ORACLE error 1658:
i can import my data using imp utility using this syntax
C:UsersAdministrator>imp tiger/****@tcs file=E:DUMP s. dmp log=E:DUMP s.log fromuser=tiger121 touser=tiger statistics=none
this my user tiger default tablespace its uses and its a auto extend on and locally managed tablespace, and i have enough space on my drive also.

My database is OLP system.
My question is what are the advantages and disadvantages having one single tablespace versus multiple tablespace?
Easy to maintain when you have single tablespace. but hard to track the IO issues if you have one single tablespace.
I need tablespace name, tablespace total size and used size of every tablespace for my 106 databases. bcz I am planning to prepare tablespace growth report for my 106 dbs. If I have the 2 months data from now in xl sheet, then I can predict the growth rate of every tablespace accurate almost.
it is not a easy task to fill the space detail manually in xl sheet everyday.Hence I need some mechanism to do this activity automatically.
I know we can collect this detail in a csv file every day while running the script. but is there any mechanism to store these detail in a particular xl sheet one by one column automatically?
It's been 2 days from now that I'm bugging with this kind of error in my manual dB creation. I used DBCA first but we had a default directory settings, that's why I resorted to create the db manually. The dB was already created and currently has a status of STARTED.. I cannot mount it due to this error:
SQL> startup nomount ORACLE instance started. Total System Global Area 247463936 bytes Fixed Size 2235856 bytes Variable Size 177840688 bytes
I've used custom written statistics gathering scripts that by default gather statistics on large tables with a small estimate percentage and FOR ALL COLUMNS SIZE 1. They allow the estimate percentage to be set higher on individual tables and allow me to choose individual columns to have histograms with the maximum number of buckets. The nice thing about this approach was that the statistics ran very efficiently by default and they could be dialed up as needed to tune individual queries. But, with 11g you can set preferences at the table level so that the automatic stats job or even a manual run of gather_table_stats will use your settings. Also, there is some special sampling algorithm associated with auto_sample_size that you miss out on if you manually set the estimate percentage. So, I could change my approach to query tuning and statistics gathering to use AUTO_SAMPLE_SIZE and FOR ALL COLUMNS SIZE AUTO by default and then override these if needed to tune a query or if needed to make the statistics run in an acceptable length of time. I work in an largish company with a team of about 10 DBAs and a bunch of developers and over 100 Oracle databases so we can't really carefully keep track of each system. Having the defaults be less resource intensive saves me the grief of having stats jobs run too long, but it requires intervention when a query needs to be tuned. Also, with my custom scripts I get a lot of hassles from people wanting to know why I'm not using the Oracle default settings so that is a negative. But I've seen the default settings, even on 11.2, run much too long on large tables. Typically our systems start small and then data grows and grows until things start breaking so the auto stats may seem fine at first, but eventually they will start running too long. Also, when the stats jobs run forever or with the automatic jobs don't finish in the window I get complaints about the stats taking too long or not being updated. So, either direction has its pros and cons as far as I can tell.
get the actual password for the database users. If we talk about the dba_users account we have password in the encrypted form how to decrypt them and get actual password.
I have one database which is recently upgraded from oracle 8.1.5 to oracle 10.2.0.4.The database is having around 300 tablespace and total size of the database is 1.5 TB.
The database was created in oracle 8i and all the teblespace were DMT(Dictionary Managed Tablespace) .Usually after up gradation all the tablespace are in DMT mode. Now my requirement is to convert all the tablespace into LMT (Locally Managed Tablespace) so that I can AVAIL ALL THE FEATURES OF LMT.
This database is a mission critical database and very less downtime can be allowed.
I want to compare two users on different databases, actaully there are two users one in user a on database a and another user b on database b they have same tables, and everytime when a table or object is created on user a (database a) i will take the table name ,procedure or any other object from user_objects based on ddl_created date and then i need to recreate the same on user b on database b, is there a way to find out tables which are not only created but also i need to check whether if there is any column added or any change in procedure or any other objects. Is there a way to generate the scripts based on list of objects selected from user_objects. all i want is.
a)Find out the list of objects added along with creation scripts b)find out the list of objects modified along with creation scripts.
I'm getting a "TNS disconnect" after database creation script creation in DBCA. Haven't figured out what's going on. I'm attempting to create a 2nd database on one linux 64 server. I get all the way through DBCA, but it won't go the final mile. Any thoughts? I've tried setting the port to a different port from the existing LISTENER, creating a LISTENER2 and associating it with the 2nd instance.
